Welcoming and serving staff are excellent , Chef is a Culinary Institute of America graduate (a.k.a., CIA) and the plates show and taste that way. A bit pricey however it is in a pricey neighborhood. You will not be disappointed It is also a Inn with an inground pool. The restaurant has a full bar. if you order pancakes or french toast, maple syrup costs an extra $1.50 but at least it is available.

I just had, hands down, the best crab cake sandwich I’ve ever eaten. I’ve had crab cakes up & down the East Coast, & nothing compares.
Blu’ Island Bistro just reopened after a change in ownership, we were told (but w/other chefs intact,) & they really haven’t missed a beat. It’s not as crowded as usual—no wait—guessing b/c people didn’t know it was open or b/c of the pandemic (obviously.) The restaurant seems very clean, & there is hand sanitizer at the tables & wipes available as well. If you are going out, the Blu’ Island Bistro would be a great choice. Friendly service too.

This restaurant is adjacent to the inn where we were staying. We walked over for a lovely breakfast outdoors and great service. The waitress even gave us coffee to go as she knew we were off to do some sightseeing. Next time we will try the lunch menu.

I'm so sorry to give this review, but this has always been our very favorite restaurant to go to when we visit the area. We had no idea Chef Alan was gone (although it does show on their website the new owners in the "about" section). Trip Advisor reviewers don't mention it. When you pull up to the restaurant there are large banners touting BEST restaurant 2018.... well, I'm absolutely certain that was true when the former owner Chef Alan owned it. It is the same menu, with the high prices but it is not at all the same restaurant. We've had better Breakfast at McDonald's. You would think you can't mess up eggs/bacon/hash browns, but they did. The hash browns tasted like they were leftovers from during the week. The bacon was thin, tiny and unexceptional.. The bread tasted like store bought (not like Chef Alan used to serve). I had the banana French toast. Although we were the first ones at the door, the French toast was not hot. I ordered real Maple Syrup ($1.50 extra) but was served regular syrup... not much you can do once you've poured it over your meal. The bread used was unexceptional. Unfortunately, we will never return. It would be helpful to take those signs down. This is now just a sadly run restaurant attached to a motel but with premium prices.

last week on morning around 11 ish I called to place a take out order for a grouper sandwich . A guy (might be the owner) answered and said they are real busy and not really taking orders but he would find a girl to take it. I heard him ask 2 girls and they said no. Then another came on the phone to take it. I drove 25 minutes and went in and they could not find my order then one girl remembered it. They had not started on it but said they would and Manager said he could put it on priority and get it out in 10 min or so. About 7 min later a girl came out and said it would least be 30 minutes. I told her i had to be somewhere and would not wait. What a waste of precious time and gas on vacation. I ate there a couple times before and the food is real good but it is so cramped, insanely busy, crowded and unrelaxing. Vacation should be relaxing.

I stopped in with my wife and one of our friends we were visiting . I know they are not the original owners and it shows . The food is just a step above average , thats why I wish T/A would have "good" as an option , not just average or very good . We all had salads and they were again just a step above average . My Cobb salad had very inexpensive turkey and ham on top with very little blue cheese . I know my cold cuts very well slicing hundreds of pounds for Boars Head cold cuts for caterers for many years and these were not even close .
It is a little pricey for the quality of food with nice service . And to the reviewer below , there is no chef in the kitchen ! Just line cooks , trust me I know . And if you dont believe my review thats fine but you should have seen how well they were rated years ago .

I have had the privilege of eating here for years and years. Recently I got my usual (breakfast burrito and a blueberry pancake) and I was BLOWN AWAY with how good the pancake was. I have always enjoyed the food but this time it was culinary perfection. You bet your sweet bippy I’ll be coming back again and again.
Oh, and you aren’t going to find a better waitstaff anywhere!

Ate here for breakfast. Great selection of creative dishes if you prefer to eat more adventurous and different food. Food was a bit slow, guessing it may be a rather small kitchen. Server was very friendly and we are on vacation so the wait didn’t bother us.

WE had breakfast outside on a cool morning. Really lovely atmosphere and friendly service. The food was beyond good. The eggs were especially delicious--apparently local eggs. We had a great time and the meal was excellent.

Ordered the egg salad on croissant with side potato salad. The croissant was dry and old, no avocado on sandwich and potato salad was definitely not fresh. The price online was $10.50 but when I went to pick it up the price was $13.00. I asked why and was told they changed their prices a month ago.

We had friends from out of town and were at Blu' Island Bistro for Sunday brunch.
We only waited a few minutes for a table. Our server Brooke was efficient and very funny!!! It was a ballet watching the servers as they all worked together. I was most impressed with the young people busing and RUNNING food and bins of dirty dishes. Their faces were red from working hard! Very impressive! It is my husband's favorite place for corned beef and hash and mine for the ham eggs benedict with seasoned hashbrowns.
We LOVE this place!!!!

Food & service were good, however We were very disappointed on the host, sitting arrangements and the appearance of the place. We were a party of 9 and were sited on two different tables/booths that were not even facing each other( the host never told us that’s how he had arranged it until we walked in and he basically threw the menus on the table, had he given us the choice when we told him and was 9 of us we would have waited until a table to accommodate all of was was available. When a family or friends go out is to gather together and interact with each other, we couldn’t do that today… we spend more time outside the restaurant catching up! I suggested this place because when chef Alan and Kim own it this place was impeccable clean, the service was phenomenal, food was delicious and the ambiance of it was inviting. I have to say today was A MAJOR disappointment and we left very dissatisfied with our experience. Our server Anne Marie was great and the food was ok but the place needs a good dusting and cleaning there are webs on their ceiling and dust in their light fixtures I can only imagine what the rest of the place looked like. 😳☹️ If Kim and chef Alan were to see they too would be very dissatisfied. So I give it thumbs down 👎

CLOSES at 2:00 pm; kitchen stops serving 1:40-1:45. It’s up to the chef when they close.
BUT, if you’re in here in time, great little spot. We had crab, asparagus Benedict, breakfast burrito, frittata and chicken pot pie soup. All were delicious. Donuts only served on weekends. Service was excellent. Shout out to Steven. Nice side patio with tables, front tables are a little noisy from traffic. Inside in quaint and clean. We’ll be back.

Stumbled on to this place for breakfast….. absolutely delicious.
My group had a variety of choices with highlight being pumpkin muffins. Whiskey bacon was amazing!
Service was fantastic, Brook and Michelle running the entire place like they were the owners. Non-stop, drinks, refills, butter etc for any table requesting assistance.
Always smiling and pleasant!
To the contrary, the manager guy, although nice, was sitting at different tables and ignoring customers. He was helpful at times but seemed uninterested in helping.
My guess is Brook and Michelle could run the entire dining area flawlessly on their own.
Had a minute to thank the chef as well, his dishes were creative and delicious especially for breakfast!
Did suggest doing donuts on weekdays, if they are big draw on weekends, why not do on slower weekdays to increase business😎

Busy place, great servers but not the best brunch I’ve ever had. Recommend their homemade donuts, a little cake like but warm and yummy. Biscuit & gravy the guys didn’t care for which is why the score was not 4. Tiny servings of fresh fruit for $3.50, English muffin & coffee good but bacon well done. Seems popular with locals, can have outside or inside seating.
