My girlfriend took me here for a late birthday celebration and we ordered the Tokyo Boat which comes with Ginger Salads and Soup and four Chef's Special Rolls. We chose the Fireworks, Yellow Tail Jalapeno(very spicy and was my favorite), Jason's Roll and Mango Spicy Tuna Roll. The Avocado Appetizer was amazing as was the Cucumber salad. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Great place for sushi!

I typically order massago, cucumber salad, and avocado salad. Occasionally, I order the vegetable tempura which has great texture!

My family and I have been coming here for more than 10 years and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing and the servers are friendly.
On the recommendations of friends, we have tried other places, but they are never as good as Tokyo Sushi.
My favorite rolls are Bev, Rus, Ira, and Kitty.

Thumbs down! The rolls have become SMALLER, even tiny, compared to other sushi restaurants. They do NOT know what their specials are and they differ from online vs their menu in the restaurant. Unfortunately, we will not be back. Yokohama in Brandon is awesome!

This was my first visit. Very friendly and good service. They will make anything you want which is nice. Lots of different rolls to choose from.
It was all fresh and tasty. The best item was the crazy roll. The mackerel nigiri was also nice. I will come back.

We were told about this place about 10 years ago. I was never a sushi eater - the seaweed was always too strong at other places. We were assured this place was good, so we tried it and have been coming back ever since. The original owner sold it a few years ago, but we've found that the quality remains. We will continue to drive from Brandon to get our sushi fix!

Met some friends here yesterday for a quick bite. The Saturday special menu was fantastic!! Lots of choices and good prices. The Green Monster roll is my favorite. Other people's favorites included the Paul Roll and and Volcano Roll. Don't expect a ton of atmosphere, but the food will make up for that.

Charmless, in a strip mall with radio playing loudly behind sushi bar. At least the light was low. Spoiled seaweed salad, indifferent miso soup, green tea full of grit in a cup with crusted food on the rim, tasteless gluey sushi rice and freezer burned ice cream. Do your self a favor and go to Sake House, it's right down the street. You could walk. Walk, walk away from Tokyo Japanese Restaurant. You're welcome.

This is our local "go to" sushi place and their sushi is as good as better known ones. They are very friendly and service is good. We particularly like the "boats". All the spicy sushi offerings are delicious.

We have been going to this restaurant since it opened several years ago and were great friends with the owners. Since then it has changed hands 2 times. The food is excellent, but now the service is very slow--whether or not there is a crowd. If the service was better, I would have rated it a 5!

This is our favorite sushi place. its not much when you walk in, but dont let the quaint place fool you. The sushi is noting short of amazing! Fresh and quality ingredients. The sushi list is HUGE and they have some great combinations! Some of our favs are Jason-K roll, Bev roll, Godzilla roll, crab wonton roll and Regina roll. But I have never tried a new one I didnt love. its inthe plaza where Applebees and Planet Fitness are on Fowler and 56th. If you love good sushi, you will love it here.

My son took me for my first taste of sushi. To admit I was hesitant, but I was good. I have no idea what ordered for us, I enjoyed it. He ordered 3 different rolls, and we shared so I got to taste a broad spectrum.
My only complaint was that the service was slow.
I will go again whenever he asks.

I went for dinner while on business since it was only a couple of miles from my hotel and boy am I glad I tried it instead of driving to Tampa for my "Go To" Sushi restaurant, because now I have a second favorite on the North Side. I had the *Lava Roll with fried grouper & crab meat special topped w/ red tuna, white tuna & 3 kinds of spicy sauce. It was great, but wasn't really spicy. I also had a *Steve’s B Roll which is a Dragon Roll around spicy tuna salad, which had a little more kick, but still just the right amount of spice without overpowering the taste of the tuna. I also had the Fried Banana with Green Tea Ice Cream which was also very good. The staff was very friendly and didn't make me feel rushed. I did pick two of the most expensive specialty rolls, desert and a drink and the meal only came to $40. There were lots of inexpensive rolls and other items on the menu if you don't want to spend that much.
