Took visiting family to the river. Everyone who had beef and pork were gtg. Chicken not so much. Chicken was dry and looked like it had been on the serving line for a while and we dinned at 6:20pm. Sides were good except for really bland and plain collard greens. Overall it was good, but ask for samples before diving in.

The sides were large portions and really tasty. We had fried okra, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and fries. The brisket was tender and the pulled pork was delicious with a little smoke. Cornbread was really awesome too.

Not the best I've had, but maybe the best in South Tampa. The ribs were good, as were the sides (collard greens and baked beans). The brisket was tasteless. If you can't do brisket well, you shouldn't do it.

Four of us decided to give this smokehouse a try and when four people agree that this was a very poor choice, there is something definitely wrong. First, the portions were nothing like the photos on the wall menu. Second, after a long wait, the rice in our meals was under cooked. Third, the manager was rude to say the least when we returned our meals for an exchange of menu/meal or our money back. Three strikes and you're out. Keep driving when you see this restaurant. A bad choice in a town with so many other great choices.

The brisket and ribs here are always outstanding. Jalapeño peppers, beans, fries and bread pudding are excellent sides. Great bakery with delicious pastries.

The pulled pork quesadilla has no flavor and is lacking bbq sauce, my husband said his ribs are cold. I don’t know if we’ll be back.

Good BBQ everytime, they are consistent. I think they should stay with the basics and stay away from this new Cheer Wine flavored stuff. Great BBQ leave it alone

Great food and uplifting service. I would recommend the burnt ends. Very tasty. This place has good value. We are outside and had a nice, quiet dinner.

We stopped at the 4 Rivers mid-afternoon on a Wednesday, so the noon crown was gone, and evening crown hadn't arrived yet. We were greeted with enthusiasm by people at the walk-up counter where we could plainly see what was available for order. (wish I would have taken a pic of the counter for ya all !) Anyway, I got the pulled pork / brisket platter with sides of the most AWESOME "Smokehouse" corn and 4R BB beans. Wife had God knows what, I was so concentrated on what I was eating. Oh yeah ... they have chocolate chip cookies too.
The place is spacious, and I'm told gets VERY busy at lunch and dinner hours, especially on the weekends. The on duty MGR. took the time to stop and ask ho our meals were, which I thought was a nice gesture.
If you read other reviews of mine, you'll see I check out the restrooms. So important! 4Rivers didn't disappoint. Clean and tidy, and the floors were dry.

Looking for some delicious comfort food to go, I arrived Saturday afternoon and ordered a rack of ribs and 10 chicken wings. Inexplicably, the staff put the ribs in a styrofoam container, lid closed, immediately, setting those on the counter in a bag. I proceeded to wait at least 10 minutes for the wings to appear. And those wings, as it turns out, were undercooked, perhaps dangerously so. I am befuddled by their process - do they always box the ribs so far in advance of filling the rest of an order, or did the staff that day simply not care about the quality of the food they were serving?

Really enjoyed the food here. What was better than the food was the service. The staff were all very friendly. Place was very clean. Will definitely come back.

The brisket is really good - ask for lean if you don't want a bunch of fat. The baked beans are very good. The collard greens are meh...I make them better. Green beans are good. Biskit was terrible and hard only my dog would eat it.
This barbecue is not an expensive, it's rather spendy... so brace for a bill that's higher than you think it should be.
The barbecue is good the burnt ends are good.

Nom nom this place is delicious!! Found this place driving by on the way to another restaurant. Was so impressed that when we reached our destination we decided to change plans and come back here. What a great decision!! Our food was amazing! Everything we ordered was great. Will definitely return next time we are in Tampa. Looking forward to visiting the Orlando location next month. Definitely recommend you give it a try.

I have been a repeat customer since this location opened. I have Celiacs and can not have gluten. Every time I have dined here the employees have been more than happy to change gloves before they handle any of my food. They also are very clear on what is gluten free and what is not. I like the ribs a lot and I have had the corn, potato salad, and collard greens. All of the sides are just ok in my opinion. My husband loves brisket and he likes it here a lot. Its good enough to satisfy a craving. The restaurant is pretty large and open and there are always employees walking around waiting to assist you. Outdoor seating is really nice in the Spring/Fall when its not too hot. Definitely cheap eats.

The BBQ chicken at 4 Rivers is tender, seasoned well, and served in a generous portion on the platter, which comes with three sides and a biscuit, which I substituted for the delicious cornbread. The slaw was tasty and not overly sweet, but the baked beans were too syrupy and sweet and the fried okra was too heavily battered and salty.
