Excellent restaurant. Large space, I think they do allot of weddings. We went for a couples brunch. Have been several times and never fails to please. Easy valet parking. Suggest making reservations ahead of time. Hostess always takes us on time. Good service and experienced...bartenders. Were able to make our custom melon martini cocktail to perfection. Recommend the crab stuffed grouper, wedge salad, mojitos and martinis.More

Our family has celebrated several special occasions at Rusty Pelican & enjoyed them. Just checked on celebrating Valentines Day 2024 there. Shame on Rusty Pelican for charging $30.00 more for window seating on Valentines Day. What a money grab! In addition, they have a set...menu for Valentines Day. That makes it very difficult for people that have food allergies to dine there. Very disappointed in Rusty Pelican!! Not sure if we will give our business to this restaurant again in the future.More

This was an enjoyable evening. We visited on Christmas Eve. Service was fairly slow, but acceptable for a busy holiday evening. The food was amazing. Our party had a variety of starters and entrees and all were great. This is the first restaurant I’ve ever...visited that came close to cooking a steak as good as I can. It is not cheap though. Don’t expect low prices. My only real complaint is the wagyu beef was overpriced in my opinion. Other than that, it’s awesome.More

Since having lived in Florida for many years, I had never had the opportunity when living there to try out this Tampa eatery, I’d only often frequented their location at Key Biscayne. Low and behold, not bad. Their replication of service, atmosphere, and foods are...very good. We decided to stop in for a late morning brunch and we were glad we did. Our brunch eats began with their rendition of Conch Fritters with a very, very good Piña Colada Sauce along with Lime and Cilantro – I should have had two orders! Then we went on to our breakfast end and my Wife’s well put together Eggs and beautifully browned Sausage, and my incredible serving of their Hangover Hash… which was terrific! They braised super tender strips of Prime Rib with nice buttery mashed potatoes, a perfectly poached egg and some very good Hollandaise sauce. Did I mention we were sipping on delicious Screwdrivers’ all the while? Yeah! Overall, they seem to carry the baton from what I remember them to be. Enhancing one’s meal is the remarkable view of Tampa Bay, the surrounding skies, and billowing clouds making the atmosphere exactly what you come to Rusty Pelican for. Ahoy Mates, don’t spare the yard arm!More

The food is terrible! Nearly every menu item features chilis or jalapeños. Calamari was small, greasy and flavorless. With chili peppers, of course. Fried grouper was not hot and too large for plate so very hard to eat Rice underneath was cold, sticky and flavorless....Portions are huge, but nothing you’d want to take home. Avoid!More

Had Sunday brunch here twice, with great service from Sandy and lovely views over the water of Tampa Bay. Easy booking from the Rusty Pelican’s website via open table. Had the lobster, shrimp and mango salad on both visits - really good salad both times...(although slightly different each visit); generous portion of seafood, really nice salad leaves and dressing - a big salad, enough to make it a decent entree. On our table, we also tried some breakfast items, the conch fritters, some other salads, and the brunch platter for two. All was good. The brunch platter is really big; a nice selection of breakfast, meat and seafood, with a nice salad too. On trying the chicken and waffle, I was glad I hadn’t ordered this for my meal - I didn’t love the waffle batter in flavour or texture. The restaurant is quite smart: an old-world interior and (required to use) valet parking on arrival. It has a private dining room adjacent to the main dining room, both have lovely views over the water of the bay.More

Our last night in Tampa and we found this online. It was charming to walk it. But we waited to check in. the woman who seated us was taking out garbage, took off her rubber gloves, and then seated us. The views are spectacular! Our...waitress was nice.. not super friendly, not rude.. just nice.. We ordered coquet shrimp, salmon tartare and oysters. My daughter enjoyed her salmon tartare, they oysters were tiny and cool.. NOT cold even though they were served on ice.. I had 1 and there was a rock in it. They did not clean or chill appropriately. The coconut shrimp was good. For diner we had the lobster - shrimp risotto and stuffed salmon. My daughter enjoyed her salmon. My husband's risotto was warmer than mine. Mine was Luke warm to cool. We both noticed the SMALL shrimp were white.. maybe freezer burned.. not really sure about that. We waited a very long time for the waitress to remove our dinner dishes. I ordered tea. They were all out.. umm ok? We shared the key lime pie - delicious! For the price, the service needs to step it up, and the food needs to be better.. a big miss. But the dining room is lovely and the views are spectacular.More

What a complete disappointment this place was! Took my Mother here for her birthday dinner last night. They pretend to be a higher end restaurant. But the food is just over priced, really not good! Three of us ordered ribeyes, one salmon and one Mahi...Mahi. They were out of scallops. So we opted for Brussel sprouts and calamari as appetizers to share. I ordered the steak. As did Mother and my daughter. All three were just awful! So fatty they were almost inedible. I expect the fat section on a ribeye, but this entire steak was fat. Very little meat on it. My Mother's was exactly like mine. A complete fat blob with rendered fat oozing all over the plate. It was absolutely dripping with fat! So gross! My daughter's steak was the same way. Horrible! They charged 54 dollars per steak, ala carte too. Had to pay extra for potatoes and vegetables. Which I would have been ok with if it were a decent steak. But honestly, you can get a better steak at Winn Dixie. So be advised. The Atlantic salmon was hidden under sauce because it too was a measly slice of fish. We ordered the Mahi Mahi as a take out for my husband since he was not with us. I specifically asked the waiter to include the corn bread in the to go order for my husband as he loves cornbread. (And that is what they serve with the meals.) When we got home there was no cornbread. I also ordered a side of brocollini to go with his meal. He did not get any. He got steamed brocolli instead. Which is what cones with the meal. I was charged for the side order and didnt get it Which is ironic AF because my mother asked for steamed brocolli with her meal and she was served the roasted root vegetables instead. We also had to ask for more iced tea, and then sat there for quite some time with nothing. Our waiter was VERY inattentive in general. I still tipped him 20% as I always tip. But the truth is he would have gotten a better tip had we gotten better service. (I waited tables when I was young so I tend to be a generous tipper.) In short, this place = Lousy service. Lousy food and way, way overpriced for what you're getting. The only positive about the whole experience is the location. It does have nice scenery over looking the water. Also, The Brussel sprouts and calamari appetizers were very good. The cornbread was good too. We didn't bother with dessert since the entrees were just subpar. Which was probably disappointing for my Mother since it was her birthday. But I'll make it up to her. We are locals, not tourists. And we won't be back. Color this place a very expensive tourist trap. Might as well have mouse ears.More
