Wanted to have breakfast at a mom and pop place. Stumbled on Ranch House There were no new reviews to go by but decided to give it a shot.
We walked in and immediately fell back to the 70’s. Not even kidding. Tchotchkes all over the walls, and wood paneling that hasn’t been touched since it opened.
Greeted by the server right away and took our drink order before she even set the menu down.
I ordered the hot Mexican omelette with potato and toast. Hubby got Ruby’s breakfast with sausage, toast and added a chocolate chip pancake.
The ladies at the next table were regulars. Very nice and struck up a conversation with us. Actually they have been going there over 30 years! The waitress told us she started working here at 16, serving these ladies. left and came back 20 some odd years later and these ladies still coming in.
Our food came out quickly. Everything was great. Coffee never ran low. Service was on point!
A place like this can not be made overnight. This place evolved into the great little breakfast /lunch gem that transports you back in time.
Highly recommend!!!

I have driven by this place many times in the 17 years I've lived in Tampa and had heard many times that it was a staple in the Town n Country neighborhood and I finally decided to try it out. It is a very, very old place, which I can appreciate...seems like there's a lot of history there. I had a delicious bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on Cuban toast. My husband had the $4.49 breakfast special. The food came out maybe 7 mins after we ordered! Very fast service. The menu has A LOT to choose from. We will definitely return.

Parking lot was nice. The diner was not crowded even on a Sunday after church. Service was not spectacular, but the food was. Prices were wonderful.

We wanted to check out a good breakfast place while staying in Tampa. Ranch House Restaurant had good reviews. They were not wrong! At first glance, the strip mall it is located in is not the most up to date. Located at one end of it, parking was easy. We got a table right away & our server was prompt. She was so nice & friendly!! Unfortunately, I did not catch her name. My wife had a Monte Cristo sandwich, which was huge & delicious. I had a breakfast burrito, which was also fantastic. My youngest had a chocolate chip pancake with whipped cream. The cafe con leche was just what I was hoping for. Prices are reasonable too. Not a pretentious place, but a great menu with good food at reasonable prices paired with excellent service really can't be beat.

the service was terrible, we watched the “servers” sit there and stare at everyone while we didn’t get 1 refill, the food came out fast but my grease came with a side of fries, and it smelled like rotten eggs mixed with urine. we were so excited to come here to walk out with the worst experience i’ve probably ever had at a restaurant. as a server, it sucks having such a crap experience. i’m SHOCKED that this place hasn’t been shut down yet.

I walked in & walked out. Not only did I see dirt & grime on every surface (floors, windows, ceiling, tables & the exterior), the restaurant smelled like sewage. It appears no cleaning or maintenance has been performed in decades.

My girlfriend and I stopped here on Sunday around 11:30 AM because there was just too long a wait at the restaurant we usually go to. The place is frequented by people who are undoubtedly WalMart shoppers.
My BLT sandwich had so much mayonnaise on it that I had to open it up and scrape some of the mayo off. Same with my girlfriend. She went to use the ladies room and came back and told me that the restroom had human feces on the floor. needless to say, we will NEVER go back!

I've had several meals there, at least twice a week !I was very upset because I was there on a Sunday and had so called scallops! They weren't scallops at all two of us ate them and they can say what they want but I know scallops and they weren't, it was some kind of fish but not scallops! $20.00 was a waste ! I've had them there many time but this was a waste of money,if you call them scallops that's what they should be not the catch of the day cut up small and very fishy !

Went here for breakfast this morning with the two babies and husband. It had a good family atmosphere but the food was average. I would only go back for the pancakes which were huge and yummy without needing butter or syrup. My husband was very disappointed in the rib-eye though and wouldnt even eat it which is a big deal.

I am reviewing 4 different breakfast restaurants that are all located within a mile or so of each other on Hillsborough. The other ones are Village Inn, The Garden Grille Cafe, and the Omelet Shoppe. My qualifications for these restaurants are that they serve breakfast any time of the day...which is my favorite meal not just in the mornings.
Ranch House has been there forever it seems...but it is currently owned by a very nice Colombian couple who have added a number of unique Latin twists to the menu. Since I work part time in Colombia and other Latin countries...I like the flair of Colombian cooking. They also have their family and friends working here which I like to see in a local place. Extra pride and service is evident based on that.
The atmosphere is pure "greasy spoon"...but that's what I like about this little place. Between their breakfast specials and regular low priced menu, it is hard to get a better value breakfast than the Ranch House.
I really like the Colombian omelet and a few other options that have Spanish flavorings or style sausage. I like that you can see right into the grill and who is cooking. I would suggest they probably have the prettiest quick order cooks in the county.
You don't want to miss their "melt in your mouth" muffins...freshly made and hot every time I have had them. I also like the breakfast tacos and breakfast burrito for a change from the other area breakfast spots. They also serve the old style thick cut ham off the bone which I like much better than the packaged processed ham you typically get at breakfast places. Their ham and eggs is stellar.
The crowd tends to be a lot of elderly saving money on meals out because this place is so reasonable...but a few of us motorcycle riders can be caught there as well hanging out at the counter as our coffee cups are constantly refilled.
This place is only upon early mornings until mid afternoon...during which they seem to get plenty of business. Give it a try...you will be glad you did.

We've stopped in here a fewl times on our way out of town but I've always ordered just a couple of eggs and toast. this time I thought I would try something different with a ham and cheese omelette. I think the cheese was Mexican I couldn't tell, it tasted like plastic, i poked around that part of the omelette.. the chunks of ham were quite large but no flavor. The biscuit was ok. We won't be back.
