Covid 19 could have something to do with our rating but we were disappointed in this highly rated restaurant. When paying $150 for dinner for two, we expect a very pleasant experience. First of all, our table did not have table cloths and the table...was sticky. My $14 glass of wine turned out to be about 6 oz. My wife thought the $40 grouper was dried out and ok but not great. We feel there are better options in Tampa Bay.More

Met friend for dinner who I haven't seen in months and had the privilege of being served by Natalie (5+years of service at Oystercatchers). What a great experience. Dinner and wine was excellent, service was over the top.

Met friends for lunch on the outdoor shaded patio at this restaurant located on the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay property but away from the main hotel. Service and server were outstanding. The views of the bay are fantastic. Even though the outside temperature was 93...degrees and sunny, the shaded patio with ceiling fans and wind off the bay made for a pleasant hour lunch. I had the Gulf Grouper dinner. The Grouper was perfectly lightly blackened as I asked for and served with a saffron rice and fresh baby asparagus that were extremely tender. Because this is a upscale hotel, be prepared to see an upscale bill. People who review this restaurant should know that all upscale hotel restaurants are pricey and if you feel this is too pricey, do not go in the first place and then complain!!! My Two Cents Worth!!!More

Oystercatchers has an amazing location that could really make the full experience amazing all by itself. Add the great service we received both at the bar (we were there on a Sunday for Brunch) and at the table and you have the makings for spectacular....Unfortunately, the food is just ok. We ordered the seafood tower for $165. The king crab legs were way overcooked and had little flavor. The oysters were off in some way - we love oysters and eat them a lot. Today was not the best oyster day. The curry soup was too salty and the flavors didn't seem to match the rest of the menu and the Crab Benedict was uninspired. At First Watch, this breakfast would have been considered decent, but at oyster catchers, where our bill was 173 per couple for breakfast, we just wanted a better food experience. There is also a fruit fly issue at the bar which seemed to be a regular occurrence from our conversations with the bartender and others we know. To end on a positive note though, we loved the service and our pre and post experience at the bar. Two people in our party ordered the short rib and grits dish and they said it was great...it looked like it was great as well. Views are terrific and in the winter, sitting on the deck will probably be awesome!More

We are here as we were at the Hyatt and it sounded good. Friday night and no reservations but two of us were able to snag a table at the bar. Bartender took good care of us with good cheer and Covid precautions. The drinks...(smoky Old Fashion and a Chocolate Martina were done well. The food was all tasty from fresh oysters to a light salad and well prepared seafood that brought out the flavors but didn’t overwhelm the fish. Pricey but worth it if it’s a special meal.nMore

If you're staying at the hotel (on an expense account) then you can't go wrong with Oystercatchers. However, for the price, there are certainly other options I would likely recommend first. Also - just in case management is reading this - not impressed with the...Ceasar Salad for what was served....seriously, $13 for that??More

We went for Oysters and was not disappointed! Absolutely loved them... we ordered 3 dozen and enjoyed some great wine and the sunset! This is a must for a date night or even a business meeting. So worth the price I paid!

The good news: Great atmosphere, service (hostess, bar, server, manager), food very tasty. Complaint: Skimpy portions. Caesar salad was tiny, Seafood Trio was one scallop, two shrimp, and a small lobster tail, with a bit of veggies. Expected more the the high price. Both server...and manager sympathized. Questioned bill with $20 for one Jack Daniels. Manager corrected to $8. With bottle of wine ($80) came to $215 for two before tip.More

Spent well over $100 for two people. The quality of the food combined with the price are a little bit of a mismatch. $54 for a ribeye steak worth maybe $30. Dont get me wrong-the food is ok. It really is. But for the price?...Nah.More

EXCELLENT. Nearly 5 stars. YES we would go back. LONGER VERSION: I am from Tampa, and I was entertaining a out-of-town client (who is a world foodie blogger) and we decided to go to Oystercatchers. Been here multiple times over 20 years and always great....SERVICE: It was not busy for a Sunday night, and we were seated in a Bay View table by request. Service from Nathallie - our main server - was Outstanding. She was there when you needed her and had a great attitude - especially considering the world events of early 2020. Nice job. WINE and COCKTAILS: By the glass (and bottle) had a small but adequate selection, and we opted to go with a couple of wines by the glass. Very good. FOOD: We started with the Calamari and Blue Point Oysters - fresh and Excellent. My companion had the fresh Whole Fish (Snapper), and I had the Black Grouper (blackened). Both were Excellent as well - very tasty. All perfectly cooked the way we liked it and we would order them again. The homemade bread they serve with the special salt/butter was yummy. OVERALL: A great experience with a short walk from the Grand Hyatt. A nice happy hour bar menu. Tip: Time your seating just before sunset (by 30 minutes or so), you will very much enjoy the view. Higher end for pricing, but reasonable given the freshness of the meal. YES we would go back. Two Thumbs Up from my client the foodie critic.More
