Try to go on a weekend so that you can witness the traditional Cuban dancing and music. If it is a special occasion try to reserve a balcony seat. The food is incredible- pretty authentic- my Cuban brother inlaw approves! I love the 1905 salad and Cuban bread they mix the salad table side. Ropa vejas is to die for!!... More

I think this place itself is an attraction in Tampa ! I was attracted by the decor and review when we decided to try the restaurant, upon our arrival, our server told me that this restaurant was actually the oldest restaurant in Florida which opened in 1905 ! I love the dining experience in here! The food is great too... More

Not to be cliche with my review of this restaurant but order the 1905 salad! The sangria is also a must and I'm not even one to normally drink sangria. Everything is awesome. Check it out

The atmosphere was awesome and the food was even better than what I expected. We went in the early evening without a reservation and got right in. The staff was great and the whole experience was perfect. We will be back.

If you are visiting Tampa (or have lived here forever and just never get to Ybor City), you owe it to yourself to visit the Columbia. I recommend lunch as your first experience. The ambiance is very special and very Cuban. I am a huge fan of anything pork, with rice and beans (I'm a dirty rice afficianado) and of... More

This restaurant and the family that owns the restaurant group are part of the very fabric of Tampa old and new. The dishes are not only delicious but crafted by Adelita, the wife of the founder, and so the food is not only very cosmopolitan but also family oriented and comforting. From the traditional 1905 salad and warm Cuban bread... More

I am astounded that this place has a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor. Our family of 21 people had 8:00 PM reservations for dinner last Saturday night. We were never let into the restaurant until 8:45PM and were given the excuse that another large party had not vacated their table(s). Our table was served by two people from the... More

The husband and I had lunch at the Columbia and it was fantastic. Located in the small Spanish town of Ybor (pronounced EE-bore) perfectly situated on the corner of the main strip. The outside building had beautifully hand paint murals all along the sides. The restaurants main level seemed to be separated into three to four dining areas. Two of... More

I have been here several times and the food is always terrific, as well as the atmosphere! House red wine, Sangria, salmon, chicken and rice, Kai lime pie, and so much more! There isn't a bad meal ever here!

Friend and I had an early dinner at Columbia which was delicious. We started with the 1905 salad and shared a 3 part tapas dinner. Had lobster flat bread, chicken and chorizo skewers and empanadas. Lots of food. It all was very tasty. The place itself is well cared for and the staff was helpful.

Description
Open 365-days a year, including all holidays. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Reservations accepted. Children's menu available. In addition to award-winning Spanish/Cuban cuisine, Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City features Flamenco dance performances nightly, Monday - Saturday. There is no show on Sunday. The Café offers live jazz Tuesday through Saturday. The Hernandez Gonzmart family has been making restaurant history since 1905 when they opened their landmark Columbia Restaurant in Tampa's Historic Ybor City, which today is Florida's Oldest RestaurantSM. Today, 4th & 5th generation family members work hard to preserve the family's legacy that their great-grandfather Casimiro Hernandez, Sr. created over 111 years ago when he opened the Columbia as a corner café frequented by local cigar workers. Casual attire is fine, but we don't allow sleeveless shirts on men. Our guests enjoy many of the same century-old family recipes that have made the Columbia famous like Paella "a la Valenciana," Snapper "Alicante" Pompano en Papillot, The Original Cuban Sandwich, and Filet Mignon "Columbia". Don't miss Columbia's Original "1905" Salad(R), prepared tableside with our delicious, freshly-made dressing, a family recipe of fresh garlic, oregano, wine vinegar and Spanish extra virgin olive oil. Enjoy an ice cold pitcher of Sangria or Mojitos, or sample a fine Spanish wine like Montecillo or Campillo from our award-winning wine list.
