The Columbia is the oldest Spanish restaurant in the US. It's Spanish and Cuban menu is outstanding. You will feel like you are in Spain throughout your visit. From the courtly wait staff to the very traditional meals, it is Tampa at its very best while the evening flamenco shows will make you wonder if you are in Seville. Don't... More

Came out of the adjacent museum and saw there were Cuban sandwiches to eat! Had to do it and wasn't disappointed. Great with the signature "1905" salad. Beer was outstanding. Ethnic menu but something for everyone.

We were invited here for dinner with friends. Was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews as to what we would experience with food and atmosphere. How ever, all of our questions and concerns were put to rest once we set down. It was great! The food starting with the bread was wonderful. A great menu, interesting layout... More

Ok so I can really only comment on a couple of things here because I LOVE the 1905 salad so much I never get anything else. The Cuban bread is to die for and my sangria was delish. I've eaten at at few other locations for this restaurant but it was super cool to eat at this original one. The... More

We celebrated an event by dining here and splurging on the flamenco show (described below). When I called for reservations, they specifically asked me if we were celebrating something--which impressed me--and they took note of the cause. Service was slow at first. To make up for it, everyone in our party received dessert for free! In addition, they surprised the... More

My husband was born and raised in Tampa. I've often heard of his dining experiences at The Columbia, and on our vacation he took me to see for myself. I'm so happy he did, the food was amazing, the Moitos are awesome and my very first flan was great. I can't wait to return

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening with another couple at this restaurant. Although the place is crowded we still felt well looked after in a private setting. The waiter did not hurry us at all and courteously waited a long time until we were ready to eat and order. And the food was good!

This was our first time at the Columbia. First of all the service was outstanding. I couldn't have asked for better. We ordered Mojitos and they were the best I've ever had. The speciality 1905 salad was amazing, as well. For the main course, I had a Cuban sandwich, which was good, but not outstanding. My friend had a pork... More

We have visited the Sarasota location of the Columbia Restaurant for the past several years. When our annual conference was seated in Tampa this year we were glad we got to try the Tampa location. We arrived here on a Sunday evening, headed right to the restaurant at 8 PM. We located the restaurant in Ybor City area of town,... More

Famous Spanish restaurant in the Ybor area. This is a historical area with cigar rolling stores, restaurants and numerous bars. Food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. Our waitress took time with us and helped us pick out dinners we would like. Just walking around and seeing the history was great plus the bar and wine rack area made... More

Description
Open 365-days a year, including all holidays. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Reservations accepted. Children's menu available. In addition to award-winning Spanish/Cuban cuisine, Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City features Flamenco dance performances nightly, Monday - Saturday. There is no show on Sunday. The Café offers live jazz Tuesday through Saturday. The Hernandez Gonzmart family has been making restaurant history since 1905 when they opened their landmark Columbia Restaurant in Tampa's Historic Ybor City, which today is Florida's Oldest RestaurantSM. Today, 4th & 5th generation family members work hard to preserve the family's legacy that their great-grandfather Casimiro Hernandez, Sr. created over 111 years ago when he opened the Columbia as a corner café frequented by local cigar workers. Casual attire is fine, but we don't allow sleeveless shirts on men. Our guests enjoy many of the same century-old family recipes that have made the Columbia famous like Paella "a la Valenciana," Snapper "Alicante" Pompano en Papillot, The Original Cuban Sandwich, and Filet Mignon "Columbia". Don't miss Columbia's Original "1905" Salad(R), prepared tableside with our delicious, freshly-made dressing, a family recipe of fresh garlic, oregano, wine vinegar and Spanish extra virgin olive oil. Enjoy an ice cold pitcher of Sangria or Mojitos, or sample a fine Spanish wine like Montecillo or Campillo from our award-winning wine list.
