Whiskey Joe's bar and grill Tampa on the 60. They've got a really neat looking barefoot beach area swimsuits are allowed, not sure if they're required, Nice lounge area restaurant and waterfront bar eating. The food is really good fairly plentiful. The House Margarita considerably overpriced for bottom shelf liquor and container margarita happy hour was $15 in glass The service there was not very good at all The host didn't recognize us or acknowledge us when we came in we were seated right away we were never checked on to see if we needed anything else after our orders we ordered a couple extra glasses of water and some ranch for our barbecue wings and vegetables that never did show up. Oh waitress never return to even apologize and say she was too busy with too many customers and the place was fairly empty at the time. Food is a bit overpriced 24 bucks for a fish and chips 20 bucks for 10 barbecue wings.

I'm writing this review for out-of-towners with kids. If you're staying at the Grand Hyatt or need to kill time before a flight this is a good spot. We rode bikes from the hotel along the dedicated bike lane to Whiskey Joe's and ate on the deck. Great view. Food was ok but it really wasn't the point of our visit. If you want to eat a meal I would suggest sitting down at Whiskey Joe's and not trying to order food from the Barefoot Bar next door. We then wanted to check out the sandy area (at Barefoot Bar) and get dessert. You have to order at the main bar down there. The kids wanted the $16 chocolate sundae but we were told they don't normally serve that there but they were willing to accommodate. The sole bartender had to leave the bar and go up a flight of stairs to retrieve food and understandably didn't seem too interested in that. It took forever but eventually she went up and came back down with a plastic bag with multiple take out containers of ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauces, brownies, whipped cream and cookies. I didn't order it to go so I wasn't expecting that but I happened to bring some plastic cups from the hotel in my backpack and the kids used those to DIY their sundaes which I guess was fun. They then spent an hour playing in the sand. It had a few cigarette butts in it but they didn't understand and showered when we got back to hotel. Bottom line: Decent excursion from the Hyatt. Ride bike. Eat at the main restaurant, take dessert to go and plan for drinks only at Barefoot.

The food was good and it was fun eating outside looking over the water. Unfortunately our server was nice but not a good server. It took him about 10 minutes to get to us to take our order. We ordered our drinks, an appetizer and our main courses - which included someone ordering a side salad. It took about another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Then, our ENTIRE order - including the appetizer and side salad - came out all together. While the server apologized that the appetizer had not come out first, he did not offer to comp it or take it back. Having it come with the food misses the point of being an appetizer. As he started to leave, we had to point out to him that we did not have napkins or silverware. After delivering the food and silverware, he did not come back to check on us or ask if we needed drink refills - which we did. We finally were able to flag him down. When we were ready to go, we asked for 3 to go containers and our bill. He brought us 2 containers and then announced the total of the bill without offering an opportunity for us to look at it. The bill came to $99 for 3 people for lunch: 2 sodas, 1 burger, 1 fish and chips, 1 salad with fish, 1 side salad and 1 appetizer. (No alcohol.) On the plus side: we did notice other servers who were much more attentive to their tables, the restaurant has free valet parking and the view is beautiful.

Reserved a table when picking family up at the airport to show them beautiful Tampa water views, and after waiting 45 minutes took my order to the hostess who said she couldn't take my order and would find a server. (it was 1:30 and not crowded) waited another 10 minutes while others around us were served. An unhappy server finally made her way over with no apology or offering to of complimentary appetizer or dessert. No manager ever approached us. Sad and embarrassed will now go to Bahama Breeze when bringing family and friends from airport … food was mediocre at best seemed prepackaged and uninspired.

This is the perfect spot for great views, appetizers (but not the grilled oysters) and some drinks, but the main course left a lot to be desired in my opinion. At first glance this location is beautiful, literally sitting in the water, so if you decide to dine in, or out on the patio, it really doesn’t matter, the views are endless and amazing! Yes, order the conch fritters, they are nicely done, well-seasoned, moist and full of conch, the sauce gives a hint of horseradish, lovely! I can’t tell you not to order the grilled oysters because nothing was technically wrong with them, they were simply small. When I spend my money on oysters, I expect them to be plump, bursting with juices from being grilled, topped with loads of cheese so a bit of grease runs down my chin, and these were just not that. Like I said, they weren't bad, just very small and not much of anything. Now let’s get into these fish n chips. I may have been spoiled in London and decided to self reflect a second before I came to any conclusion, but no, this just wasn’t a good plate of food. For starters as soon as I broke a piece of the fish, it was mostly batter and very greasy, secondly it was extremely salty, lastly, not much fish could be found amidst the batter. Now I am not one of those folks who complains to get free food, sometimes we have a bad meal, and this was simply my day. Will I go back to Whiskey Joe’s? Yes, definitely, like I said the location is perfect and I enjoyed my conch fritters, I just know that this might not be a spot for me if I desire a meal. Now, I might try a salad, but definitely not the fish n chips! For those on a budget looking for a $5.00 foodie find, most of the sides are $4.99 and you can find a drink during happy hour for $3.00. So if you find yourself flying down The Courtney Campbell Causeway looking for a place to pull over, catch the spectacular views of Tampa Bay, sip on an adult beverage and enjoy some appetizers, Whiskey Joe’s is a spot to consider and who knows, you may love the food! Enjoy Unnerved Traveler

I will keep this review simple. 5 stars for the location 5 stars for the service 1 star for the food and drinks The restaurant is located literally on the beach with the patio over the water. The space is perfect for anyone visiting the area and wanting a nice spot to hang out and eat. The inside dinning area is pretty big and there is a large bar with Planty of seating. Unfortunately, food here is disappointing and beer is expensive. I came here for dinner and ended up ordering crab cake topped grilled grouper. The entree showed up with well done plantains. I love plantains but these were overcooked and dry. The grouper had a fish smell and crab cake looked more like a pancake. The yellow rice with veggies was locking flavor. The drink selection here was ok, unfortunately small beer will run you about $9. Overall, this place is nothing but a convenience spot for tourists and anyone handing on the beach but I don’t see it being a goto spot for me when visiting tampas.

I convinced my wife to try this place on a Sunday night while we were visiting Tampa even though we were pretty sure it was an overly touristy restaurant. The location is right on the beach, but parking is a bit of an issue on weekends. The parking lot was valet only Friday - Sunday and cost $5, I believe. There is additional parking along the beach in city lots for 55 cents an hour. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, and we were advised that it would be a 30 minute wait for a table. There is a large patio that overlooks the water, but it was chilly and we were not dressed for the cold. We decided to wait in the large bar area, but could never get a drink ordered from the bar. Fortunately, we only had to wait less than 15 minutes for our table to be ready. Service was better once we were seated, but we still didn't see our waitress very often. I ordered the carnitas burritos (3 for $14.99) which were the skinniest burritos that I had ever seen! They were filled with just shredded pork, but it was a bit on the dry side. The side of cheese-covered rice was actually the highlight of the plate. My wife ordered the jambalaya ($18.99) which was fine. The noise level in the place was quite loud, but fortunately, we were seated in a booth with high sides which blocked out much of the nearby table conversations.

The hostess was amazing, friendly and helpful.....that is the only positive comment. We were told there is a 30 minute wait, so we went to the bar.....during our walk to the bar there were at least 20 open/ dirty tables just on our side. We sat at the bar, and neither of the 2 bartenders even acknowledged us, after 10 minutes, we got up. Got our table and waited 15 minutes for acknowledgment, food was cold and sub par...not worth the money or hype

I went in on a Saturday evening and sat on the deck with a view of the bay. A man was playing music which was nice. The service was good and I ordered a chicken breast marinated in ginger and garlic and topped with mango and pineapple. It was served with rice, black beans and plantains. The rice and plantains were delicious, but the chicken was pretty dry. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the meal. Not sure where it was coming from but it smelled like raw sewage. It was so bad that my sinuses clogged up and I couldn't even taste my food. I recommend eating inside! It was disappointing. I had been here years ago, though not sure if it was Whiskey Joe's then. I had good memories of that visit. Parking here is horrible. They basically close off their own parking lot and charge $10 to valet park your car there.

It's frustrating and It's definitely disappointing when you order something expecting a certain quality or ingredient and end up with something else entirely. Transparency and honesty from establishments are crucial, especially when it comes to food. I paid over $260.00 for lunch Lack of response from management only adds to the frustration expressing our dissatisfaction and potentially prevent others from encountering the same disappointment as my Family has. If you decide to dine and spend your money you chose another location your future dining experiences will be much more enjoyable and satisfying elsewhere.

Worst calamari ever and slow service with an attitude. The calamari was unlike any I have ever been served. It is described as "crisp calamari strips, banana peppers and onions". It came heavily coated (like chicken-fried) and over salted. The banana peppers and onions were also heavily coated and deep fried. And all of it came clumped together in one fried mess. Had to get up and find the waitress to ask for the chipotle mayo it was supposed to come with. When we first arrived, it took 15 minutes before our waitress showed up to even take our drink order, and this only after we had to ask for a server. She clearly didn't like that we had to ask for service. Restaurant was only moderately busy and tables, seated after us, were being attended. On the positive side, it is a great beach view at the end of the Courtney Campbell causeway.

We found ourselves at Whisky Joes about ten years ago and my husband loved it so much that he’s been waiting to go back. So, we made a special effort to return to this restaurant during this summer’s vacation. We arrived to find that we either had to use the public beach parking which was pay by plate via an app. As visitors from the UK this was not possible as I had no data…or, Whisky Joes car park was valet only. It cost me $6 plus tips for some guy to park my car about ten foot away from the door. Seriously? I felt pretentious and ridiculous, but I guess it gave someone a job so we sucked it up and went in. (I’d have preferred to park the car myself and put the money in for a ticket - less weird). Anyway. on entering the restaurant, the girls behind the reception desk were not particularly welcoming or friendly. Someone else wrote ‘aloof’ and that is the perfect way to describe our first interactions with staff. It took 30 mins to get a table…as I had paid for the valet parking, we waited. I visited the loo whilst waiting and it was OK. Not as bad as some of the reviews suggest it could be. The outside deck was closed as it was being refurbished and we had a booth seat about as far away from windows as possible, so we were a bit disappointed…but hey, we remembered good food. The waitress was more friendly than the other staff and offered us menus. Service was a little slow. We didn’t order alcohol as my husband was driving and I don’t drink. That seemed to go down like a lead balloon, I don’t know why? Surely they are aware that drink driving is zero tolerance? Or is everyone thinking of big bills and even bigger tips these days. Food arrived and I had ordered a pineapple glazed something burger. It sounded very tropical and delicious. It turned out to be a Bob basic cheeseburger with no other discernible flavour. It was fine, probably compared to the burger from Cracker Barrell. We didn’t bother with dessert once we tasted the burger. There were just two options, Key Lime Pie and a Brownie and to be honest, we guessed they’d be ‘ok’, so saved space fro something else. Food prices were not too bad I suppose, but then the food was average. We paid the bill and left, handing over another tip for the valet to bring the car a few meters back to us. Again, it felt utterly ridiculous. This place has a great view when the deck is available. Otherwise it’s overrated, average food and prices and disappointing from car parking to eating. We won’t be back again.

I went to Whiskey Joe's on a Friday and spent a couple hours enjoying the atmosphere and the sun. I ordered the Fish and Chips and thought both the fish and the 'chips' were quite good, although I was disappointed with the number of fries I got compared to someone else at my table who also ordered the Fish and Chips. The place was clean, the servers really friendly, although I did have to get his attention a couple times when someone at the table needed something. Almost the whole area was shaded, which was really nice as it was a hot afternoon. The price was a little higher than I was expected to pay, especially for the serving size, but it tasted freshly made and had a lot of flavour. We also ordered the calamari and a half dozen oysters for an appetizer and those were delicious. Probably the worse part of the experience was the number of bird around. They 'cawed' at people incessantly and even would walk around our chairs trying to eat food off the ground.

Love the scene. Beach with chairs, inside hokey gators, and more. Nice bartender server who was forgetful, first with the wine we ordered, then the appetizers didnt come out and when they did, the cocktail shrimp that I think were to be on ice were part ice, and part water. The oysters were raw vs. what my wife ordered. They figured it out. The fish and chips were what you would expect, large portion, fried. One odd thing was it was superbowl so we sat at the bar and they said the audio for the game would be on, so we invited another couple and others showed up. The manager said no to the audio so they would just play their standard music. She said it wasn't a sports bar, it was a family restaurant and they didnt have the ability to play the audio from all of the TV's in the bar. We paid our $200 bill took our friends and told others who also left. I can see why locals dont go.

I was in town (Tampa) for work and wanted to have dinner by the bay this evening. Several people suggested Whiskey Joe's Bar & Grill, so I thought I would give it a try. Got there and waited for 45 minutes for a table outside despite half of them being unoccupied. I get it that restaurants are short staffed these days, but things really moved slow at this restaurant. Once finally seated, it took another 15 minutes for the waitress to come to the table the first time. I promptly ordered, not knowing when she would show back up. However, she did show up 10 minutes later to say that the kitchen was backed up and my food would be another 45 minutes. Really?!?!?! I proceeded to leave after waiting over an hour and a half. Worst part about it was that, not once did the waitress apologize for the poor service. She didn't even seem to care that I was prepared to get up and leave. Lesson learned: the view of the bay wasn't that great to put up with this poor service at this restaurant. I'm sure Tampa has better places to dine on the water.
