Visited this gem while visiting dear friends in Tallahassee. The sorrel drink was just like an authentic one from the island of Jamaica. Food was delicious and very generous portions. It's a shame they are closing. The syrup was warm with a hint of cinnamon....If you have a chance to go before the close, highly recommendMore

When they open first time it was good but slowly the was deteriorating. I really do not know how they got the excellence award! Last Saturday we had a dinner there, the chicken was bad or spoiled three off us we had chicken we were...sick with a sever stomach upset. So be careful! It is not a cheap restaurant but the food is very bad.More

I visit often to participate in Black on Black Rhyme. The group meets every Tuesday from 9pm - 11pm,doors open at 8pm. The atmosphere is great as people share poetry, song and sometimes rap or stepping. The restaurant itself serves awesome food with a lot...of choices for vegans and vegetarians. There are great choices for meat eaters too. No matter what I choose from the menu, I always get a slice of the vegan cheesecake. The food is good, the prices a little high. Just watch out for the receipt which auto includes gratuity but has a spot to add additional gratuity.More

I ate here with a colleague sometime in the last year; we both enjoyed the distinctive, flavorful food. Returning to a hotel near Nefetari's this week, I chose to have dinner at Nefetari's two nights in a row. The first night, I had the Honey...Eggplant dish with tofu: savory, complex complex flavors that continued to delight my tastebuds . . . and I'm not a big fan of eggplant as a rule. The second night, I had the coconut curry with lamb, with sides of grilled veggies and basmati rice. Phenomenal! A word of caution: while neither of the dishes I chose were too spicy (the curry, in fact, is mild, though richly flavorful), I know that the "pepper" on the menu means really hot, outside my personal comfort zone. Great service, too. I'm definitely keeping Nefetari's on my "adventurous" list for Tallahasee.More

The lamb burger is heaven. I brought my friend from VA. He is in love with the food. Cooked to perfection along with a salad and sweet potato fries.

Delightful brunch with friends at Nefetari’s. Excellent food and service. Stunning African art decor. We started with cranberry and mango mimosas then had great samosas for appetizers. The wild mushroom ravioli was superb as were the royal omelet and tofu scramble. Best meal I had...in Tallahassee. Highly recommendedMore

There is a dead stuffed lion in the entrance of this restaurant. I was shocked and appalled that Nefetari's would have a dead threatened species and I left very upset without eating at the restaurant. I would greatly appreciate it if the owners would please...consider removing the lion from the restaurant. I understand that it is the owners' choice to do what they would like and that the decorations of the restaurant are Egyptian themed; however a dead animal is not an object or a decoration - and most definitely not a trophy to put on display. It also implies that it is okay to hunt and display threatened species. I feel it is incredibly disrespectful, especially at a restaurant that prides itself in serving many vegan options. I cannot support this restaurant unless the lion is removed.More

Inside the humble exterior is a sensual African and Asian influenced journey with beautiful decor and delicious food. I had the Coconut Curry Chicken (bone-in) that was one of the most balanced curries I have ever had. Chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. Side of...collards were flavorful with enough acid and heat. The rice was fragrant and fluffy. My friend had the honey eggplant, also well prepared. Will save room next time for dessert! The chef visited and explained that everything is made from scratch. So many items on the menu to try. Will definitely be back next time in Tallahassee.More

One of the first things you notice upon entering is how clean the place is. They have a very eclectic healthy menu and I think everything is cooked to order. Try the sample juices! I had the juice rather than their wines. The owners give...a personal touch. I highly recommend the eggplant! You feel well tended too. This is an underrated jewel in Tallahassee run by lovely people. One note- unless you’re going in for just drinks & dessert, this is not a place to go if you’re in a hurry. It’s a true dining experience where you can hear your partner(s). Reserve this table for a Royal dining experience!More

From the moment you walk in, the place is an overwhelming collection of artwork, statues and other objects on the brightly painted walls. The dining room surrounds a large table for 6 that is very ornately decorated to the extreme. We actually thought it was...an Indian restaurant and were quickly aware that this was not the case. We tried a Somosa appetizers and Thai spring rolls to start. The Somoza's stuffing was not as flavorful as we expected but the crispy texture was good. The dipping sauce was very strong. The spring rolls were nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered the Ethiopian meat platter and the Morrocco fish dish. Both looked very nice on the plate. But after tasting both dishes, it was apparent that the chef does not taste the food. The seasoning was not only overpowering but almost bitter in taste. I would summarize the experience as being equivalent to going to EPCOT and visiting one of the restaurants there. They try very hard to present authentic cuisine but end up serving a very commercial product that succeeds in appearance only. We opted to skip dessert and would not recommend it.More

Our visit to this restaurant while traveling through Florida was excellent. The food was very tasty, properly prepared and delicious. Each of us(4 people) had something different and each one of us enjoyed our dinner. The wine selection is acceptable and all their wines are...available by the glass. The jerk chicken was spicy and flavorful, and the Talking spinach side was spicy and very different, it enjoyable. The desserts where exception, particularly the Lemon Dream cheesecake. The first bite grabbed your taste buds and delivered an exceptional taste. The pistachio cheesecake was delicious but much more subtle in flavor. Chef Sharon visited with our table and we had interesting discussions about food and travels. Highly recommend this restaurant.More

Just a block walk from the Residence Inn and Hampton Inn, a stuffed lion and Egyptian statues welcome you into a large room in violet and turquoise hues with intimate tables. The menu is a wonderful eclectic blend with unusual combinations featuring lots of fresh...and healthy ingredients. Red snapper or Ethiopian Stew (misnomer as it is served in a large round specialty bread) were lovely. Sides include vegan Mac & Cheese or Talking Spinach. Many vegan selections. Cheesecakes are made from scratch with quality ingredients (pistachio, dark cherry chocolate, lemon, berry bliss, sweet potato) or you can choose banana coconut chocolate pie. Waitress shared a taste of 2 different juice drinks (non-alcoholic). The ginger citrus one was so good we had to buy one. Margaritas were 2for1. Brunch sounds wonderful. Sometimes they have live local music on stage.More
