Our favorite place to eat in Tallahassee...food choices vary frequently but they keep several of the staples on the menu such as the steak...my personable favorite, along with the lettuce wedge. Food is always fresh and made to order. They allow corkage for a reasonable charge of $10. No reservations taken so we try to arrive early so we don’t have much of a wait. Service is good. We enjoy sitting at the bar to watch the cooking.

This is a funky, colorful place with an unusual menu and helpful waitstaff. It was hard to make up our minds because of the choices available. There were four of us and everyone enjoyed their entree. My husband had delicious lamb patties and I had a huge stuffed tuna melt with the best sweet potato fries ever. This is really worth the visit.

We went for lunch on a weekday with a group of 6 and were able to immediately get a table and be seated. It was a beautiful day and they have nice outdoor seating, but our party chose to sit inside. The service prompt and friendly. We had the pecan-encrusted trout and were able to substitute for one of the sides. It was served hot and was good. The portions were not large, but were adequate.

Kool Beanz has a nice laid-back vibe, cute decor and healthy, tasty food. My scallop entree was delicious, healthy and a generous portion, but it was so salty I was drinking water the rest of the evening. Also, service was very slow for our table. We arrived early and were seated as soon as the restaurant opened, but it still took an hour for our entrees to arrive.

Great time out for dinner. We tried Pink Salmon and lemon dressing which was very filling. Also had the opportunity to see the New York steak with potato prepared. Social distancing was enforced, all wait staff waiters wore face masks. Quick, friendly service and prompt food delivery. Will be back hungry for more. 😀

Very impressed with the Brunch menu offerings for our Sunday visit and we knew from friends that the menu each day may change according to what is fresh and available.
The restaurant was busy but the staff were handling it all quite well.
We were seated across from the open kitchen and we watched as the kitchen staff worked their skills on the line - impressed again.
Our entrees choices were the Grilled Salmon on a bed of fresh mushrooms and rice with Tomato confit and Shrimp and Grits topped with fried kale - both were excellent.

Hubby and I were in Tally and decided to give Kool Beanz a try. They change their menu regularly and have interesting dishes. A lot of fish dishes, vegetarian, and beef. I had some blood tests and decided I needed some red meat.
I had the flank steak, it came with a gorganzola butter and was delicious and tender. DH had the mojo chicken. He enjoyed it, but it was a bit spicy. We finished with their coconut cake, oh my was it good.
We would recommend this restaurant and return.
Staff wore masks and placed patrons every other table for social distancing.
Their credit card machine was down so you could pay cash, check or let them write down your credit card info.

Met my daughter for lunch; had a nice time; socially distanced outdoor seating; pleasant weather; nice hostess and waitress; only drawback was the pesky fly that hung around the table, lol! My daughter ordered the spinach salad and the mojo chicken, chorizo, and shrimp rice dish with black beans; I ordered black bean cakes and fried plantains (maduros) on the side. OMG, sooooo yummy! I did not, though, care for the citrus garlic dipping sauce that came with the plantains. The menu is not standard and is subject to change, which is great; love trying different dishes; one of my go-to lunch spots...

By the time the restaurant opened the parking lot was already full. It was impossible to get out of your chair without smashing into someone else's chair. Minutes after opening they were already out of the item I wanted to order so I chose the Mojo chicken and though it was good I was disappointed that all the ingredients were mixed together. The prices are somewhat high for the quality and don't bother checking the online menu before going because it's different than the one in the restaurant.

We went for a late lunch (around 1:00pm) and had about a 20 minute wait for a table. It was worth it. The inside was a little noisier than the patio area, but it did not impact conversation and was tolerable. The food was fantastic! My husband and I split the Mojo chicken, chorizo and shrimp dish and some pork tacos I don't see on their menu online. High marks for both. Flavorful and perfectly balanced. He had the Munich lager and I had a red wine from Uruguay. Both complimented the dishes. Ended with the Pavlova which was stellar. The service was terrific. I think her name was Cassie. Very friendly and helpful. When my sister and her family went to dinner there that night, she stopped by to introduce herself even though they had another server. A would consider this a must-visit restaurant if you are in Tallahassee. I will certainly be back again.

My husband and I arrived around 6:30 on a Thursday and were immediately seated even though the parking lot was full. We had the fried calamari as a starter and the shrimp linguini as a main course. Both were very good, but the star of the evening was the dessert! We had a cream brûlée and a panna cotta. They were excellent! The service was a little slow between courses, but I’m sure that’s due to how busy they were. This is one of our favorite restaurants, and even though it is an hour drive for us, we will continue to go every chance we get.

I normally refrain from reviewing popular restaurants because I like to focus on the unknown gems and hidden treasures. I will proudly deviate from my normal routine to tell you about one of my favorites, Kool Beanz. Our Pastry Chef, Sylvia Gould is a semifinalist in the James Beard Award.
I have eaten at Kool Beanz for years, decades even. SO much good food that I am usually too stuff to have the dessert. With this nomination, I was determine to save space for the dessert. In fact, I asked for the dessert menu before the appetizers.
Chef Gould did not disappoint. In fact, we had two desserts. Both were unique and delicious. The variety in the Kool Beanz menu is part of its charm. I have never had the same thing twice. If you are looking for a unique dining experience, Kool Beanz is it. Arrive early, and save room for dessert.

At very reduced capacity but staff seemed confused as if this was their first day open. It took a long time to get a drink menu because the waitress was more concerned with chatting up another customer. My Brussels sprouts were just that...I saw some walnuts and a few onions but no where was prosciutto or havarti evident. That was $16 for a plate of Brussels sprouts. I had eaten there once before years ago and it was good. I’m not sure what happened.

First time dining and it was great. I had fried oysters with grits and a half size salad with grapes and goat cheese. My friend had linguine with seafood. All of the food was awesome. Reasonable for the quality of food. I can’t wait to go back. There were so many good things on the menu.
