Best Chinese Takeout

I’ve been ordering g from Emerald Garden for years. Foods always hot, always delicious, always a generous portion. Sometimes it takes a little longer than I would like...my ONLY complaint! Great food!!

Probably best served delivered

We were exhausted from a long day on the road-- arriving home-- so we opted to eat in. Tables were dirty-- not clean at all. I dragged my wipes out of my purse to clean the table-- but it really needed a scrub down. Family siting in corner table studying and on computer. The food was excellent-- and plenty of it-- even with requesting smaller portion. I had the cashew chicken and it was excellent. He had the house Chow Mein and it was equally excellent. Strange little things like only one fortune cookie for two of us and we asked for water so we got large paper cups to get water from a small fountain. I like the food-- I'm not a Chinese food expert by any means. I would recommend it delivered or take out.

Good Food + Delivery = Totally Worth It!

I have seen some not so good reviews of this place, but decided to try it myself when I was on bedrest and craving chinese! It was good and I ate it 3 days in a row! After a few months break I decided to try it again and yep! it's still good....I love the terriaki chicken (aka chicken on a stick)-it's the best I've had anywhere, crab rangoon-excellent!!, egg rolls-crisp and not too much wrapping just like they should be, cashew chicken-yum!, chow mein-delicious and a lot of food, and the egg drop soup is very good also so I ordered a large and ate on it for several days. They give you plenty of fried crispy things for the soup also. The best deal is the lunch menu, you must order before 3:00 to get the lunch. You get a ton of food plus their fried rice (or you can sub soup I think). The fried rice is my only complaint. I stopped getting chinese for the rice anywhere anyway because most places rice isn't that good (japanese fried rice is the best!). It looks like yellow rice, there isn't anything in it and it's not "fried", but it tastes fine enough to mix up with your main dish. My advice is try a few items so you can see what you like and order it at lunch, take some with rice, some with soup, and you will have enough food to share like your own little buffet.

This restaurant is designed mostly for takeout. The dine in area is very Spartan. I got a bad vibe when I drove up at dinner time and the door was open and the air conditioning was not working. The staff were just sitting around without any other customers in sight and the phone never rang while i waited for my food. I went ahead and ordered takeout anyway. The food mostly tasted fresh. The egg roll was an exception and tasted stale.The other food was very bland and no interesting flavors at all. I may have come on an off night, but this place has all the signs of a restaurant in decline.

Best on N side of town

I usually get carryout but sometimes delivery. They give really generous portions of everything. My fav selection is Sweet & Sour Shrimp. Really good size shrimp and yummy sauce. Easily the best of north side Chinese carry out places. Great lunch special prices and often coupons to be found in big coupon mailers. I eat from here at least a couple of times each month. Consistently great.

OUTSTANDING CHINESE/AMERICAN EXTREMELY NICE PEOPLE

FlyGurll has it right! This is a fantastic place and a Tallahassee Iconic Chinese-American Cookery for at least 15 years!! The Triple Delight, no mushrooms, add cashew nuts is the true Quadruple Delight. Unbeatable. Their varieties of hot, delicious, fried and steamed rices is second to none. Their delivery is fast, and prices quite reasonable. They have a wonderful system, and the drivers are quite friendly. The Shrimp Lo Mein was wonderful for my girl also. Don't forget the eggrolls!!

Overcharged and no receipt offered

I have gone to this place for years because the food was decent, but I'm finding somewhere else. I not only got overcharged for my order, but the cashier happily took my cash and simply gave me change out of the register. We all know why people do that.

My neighbor recommend Emerald Garden to me. The selection and the many styles of cooking is great! I've ordered many times and it has always been delicious!!!! If you are in Tally, it's a must!👍

Terrible delivery service and customer support

First with the good: They have a good selection and the food when you get it is usually very tasty. Now for the bad: This is the third (take out)/home delivery in a row that has been messed up. The first order that was messed up was we were shorted our appetizers (2 ordered of crab rangoon). The next order, my daughter's sweet and sour chicken was over cooked. Today, 2 of our 3 orders were delivered without the rice. I notified Emerald Gardens as the driver was pulling out of my driveway. 45 minutes later, I called to find out where our food was. The owner told me that our rice was on the way. I asked him why we were expected to eat meals that were 1+ hours old with just new rice. He stated it should still be warm and that was all that was missing. He also stated that they were very busy,, said it was just rice and apologized. If I ever get a delivered meal again, I will check it before paying the ticket. I suggest everybody else due the same.

Wonderful Chinese American, Easy to Make Take Out Order

The same family has run the EG for what must be 15 years. They are always so nice, the food is excellent, and rarely is a mistake made. Their delivery range is excellent, and we love eating their food. They have regular coupons too!

Fast- very fast. Easy to order, easy to eat in or take out.

We do love our carry-out Chinese food, with sweet and sour chicken with yellow rice at the top of the list. Emerald Garden's is just perfect and the dinner portion is good for three full meals if you add a small salad with each meal. You cannot go wrong here. To be honest, the employees are on the quiet side, maybe not wanting to interact overmuch with customers. But they are efficient, pleasant, and they've never ever made an error on charges or getting the right meal orders in the bag - and we have place orders for small crowds that could be confusing. Always very, very good.

Enjoyed Emerald Garden ever since I came to Tallahassee. Seems like a family run operation and the same owner always answers the phone and is incredibly nice. The food is awesome to this day. Enjoy Emerald Garden. We see them once a month

We ordered our food to be delivered during an FSU game. The food arrived early, hot, and delicious! The delivery man was quite cordial as well. This was the most pleasant experience with a Chinese restaurant we've ever had.

Terrible, food is terrible

I decided to give it a try and boy was I disappointed. Egg rolls are bland, beef with broccoli was even worse, I know you aren't going to get filet mignon, but I didn't expect the beef to basically be rubber. They even managed to mess up fried rice ( how is that possible? ), well at least the employees are friendly.

Very poor quality

We have ordered from them before and my wife never liked their food. I found it to be barely acceptable until our last order. I only know of one other chinese food carry-out place that is worse. If you don't believe us, try the Pu-pu platter. It gives you a wide range of things to eat, all of them bad. We threw away most of our order.
