Best in Tallahassee

I do think this is the best restaurant in Tallahasee - please being back your chicken dinner! Comfort food is needed when dealing with legislators all day! 😀

Cypress. Sigh. It's been on my list of places to visit for some time and when we finally went there, we thought that we had eaten at the wrong restaurant. It's incredible that this place has survived for so long if this is the best that they can do. The service was particularly bad. For some reason the tables were... More

We went to Cypress restaurant on a Saturday night after my son's FSU commencement ceremony. We were a party of six, and this restaurant was definitively the best place we could go. Our table was ready on time, service was good, but the food was very good. All six entrees and appetizers were a delight. I definitively recommend this restaurant.

I love the brunch and the Bloody Mary's. The service is super friendly, and the original art on the walls adds a nice local flair. Parking can be a challenge, so carpool if you can.

If I didn't like Cypress' shrimp and grits so much I might be better off because then I'd feel free to try other dishes. But they. are. so. good!! My DH actually does explore other dishes and he has never been unhappy. The bartender serves up a mean good drink. Other than the dim lighting (hey! these bifocals aren't to... More

My wife and I finally went to Cypress last week. My wife had the steak au frites, and I had the lamb. The lamb was excellent. The steak was cooked well but was unfortunately very salty. The fries that came with the steak were good, but certainly not flavorful enough to not come with any sort of dipping sauce. We... More

The menu is very limited and they are trying too hard, in my opinion, to meld different flavors together. I am a fan of this trend, but the mixes here seemed off to me. The service was good, very attentive, but that is to be expected. The portions were a good size, no issue there. I do take issue with... More

We had the Roasted Broccoli salad, Pimento cheese fritters (yum!) and I had the classic breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the service had a lot to do with that; attentive but not hovering. We will definitely return for another visit.

We had the parsnip apple soup of the day, a huge ribeye, tuna with plantains, sausage & tropical fruit salsa and blackened grouper over rice & gravy with fried okra. All were outstanding, although the soup & the tuna were the highlights. The ribeye was actually 2 steaks and was so big, we could not finish. Great experience my 2nd... More

Cypress is a lovely place, not cheap but never a disappointment. Great food, Great service. I had the Scallop dish and enjoyed it very much. This is one of the few places that will allow you to bring your own wine if it is not on their wine list and of course for a small fee. The staff is courteous... More
