During this Covid crisis, we are all concerned about social distancing and the wearing of face masks, which makes dining out a bit tricky. This restaurant followed all social distancing guidelines and also went a step further as all workers/employees wore face shields. My friend...and I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant and the food was amazing. I will definitely go back again in the very near future.More

We ordered take out twice over the last four months having been a decade long customer. The staff was curteous and prompt in taking and preparing the orders. Unlike years past where their menu was predictably good the first time the food was so-so and...the second time it was uneatable. Not sure why this is the case but unfortunately we will not be returning anytime soon.More

We have been here before in the past for their pizza and wine with pleasant memories. This time unfortunately, not much went the right way. I mean if you like your bartender dressed in a denim shirt with two or three gaping holes about 3...inches in diameter, burnt pizza (also burnt for our neighbors order next to us), sandwiches stuffed with very bitter broccoli rabe, warm red wine in a water glass then have at it but it wasn't our cup of tea. Granted some will say, well broccoli rabe is bitter and you should have read the menu more carefully. True, I will concede that but why any kitchen would even consider compromising all the other tasty ingredients in any nice sandwich with such a bitter vegetable that literally ruins a sandwich is puzzling. For a so called wine bar, there was a very small selection of decent wines by the glass. Perhaps it was an off night we but can't understand people raving about this place with all the special competition around. That said, I write this not to hurt the business, which probably needs all the help it can get these days in this environment, but in the hopes that management will improve the experience. On a positive note, our son ate there recently and raved about the take out chicken piccata and he is quite discriminating as he is a cook himself.More

Was so excited to return to one of my favorite places for good Italian in Stuart. Upon walking in we observed a couple employees wearing masks and the tables were clear of anything on them such as salt and pepper shakers, etc so it looked...promising. First mis-step was being handed their normal plastic menus. The other restaurants we’ve been to are giving away disposable paper copies. Felt uncomfortable with the plastic menus but we had hand sanitizer so we cleaned our hands after ordering. They brought salad and we noticed no gloves on the servers hands. A little unsettling. Then they brought salt and pepper shakers and cheese in a shaker. That wasn’t good either. Every other place we’ve been to brings the paper throw away salt and pepper and other condiments in disposable fashion. There is no telling how well these were cleaned. Even Carrabbas gives the paper menus and individual salt and peppers. As we waited for our food we got more and more unsettled. We saw the person preparing the pizzas and although wearing a mask he had no gloves on. That didn’t sit well with us either. The wait staff and hostesses looked uncomfortable in their masks...no doubt only wearing them because it is now mandatory in Martin County. They kept pulling them off when not in front of us. We decided we didn’t want to continue on and alerted the server. Although polite they were also a bit defensive stating that the person preparing the pizza is not required to wear gloves because the oven is 500 degrees. We still find it very unsettling that our food has been touched. I didn’t really appreciate being told the board of health doesn’t require gloves for preparing food that goes into an oven. COVID is unknown and unique. Every precaution should be taken. Most places we’ve been to take WAY better precautions. They didn’t charge us for our drinks or salad but we will not be back.More

Fresh pizza, pasta, salads and, of course, desserts. Prices are very reasonable. Staff went above & beyond as my husband was coming in from out of town to pick us up. They let us wait at our table for him to arrive. Restaurant & bathrooms...were very clean. Recommend for a cozy dinner with family.More

Open again now that COVID restrictions have been relaxed and they are taking all the precautions. Great to see and we will continue to support them because of it. Solid, consistent menue, great friendly service. Let’s support those establishments that take COVID seriously. Thanks

We have eaten at Carmela's at least 4 or 5 times since we moved here. It seems to be hit or miss. The first time we ate there, we thought we found our new forever pizza. After this last visit, we're not quite so sure....The pizza was the most "blah" pizza we ever have eaten. There was no real taste to the sauce. It tastes like we were just chewing on crust and canned tomato sauce. Such a disappointment after such a great start. We were going to southeastern Stuart, so we were not going to drive all the way back to return it after we tested it. I don't know if it's worth trying once again.More

Unfortunately like several other customers the service was worse than the food was good. Not with it!
