I try to be very fair when writing any establishment review For example, I feel I'm somewhat benevolent giving three stars to Sailor's Return. Why? Because for a dinner check for two the totals $110 I simply expect more. The restaurant is in a beautiful...location. Watching the sunset over the inlet at Stuart, Florida is really quite a sight. But the food.. well it certainly doesn't match the highly rated view from the table. The grouper was tasty but relatively dry. The mashed potatoes average at best. Green beans? Well, it's Florida, fresh green beans don't require a genius in the kitchen to prepare. Crab cakes average at best. For at least one of the diners who was born and raised in Maryland, they rated well below average. Do I feel ripped off? No. Sailors May return but we certainly won't. I can watch the sunset from the nearby Riverwalk and spend my money for a dinner elsewhere. Frankly, I'm surprised how this restaurant was so highly rated by many of the readers of Tripadvisor.More

We are not knew to Sailor’s Return but I have never been so embarrassed to bring guests to this restaurant. Yes, it is season and our waiter,Tyler did his best but even a charming waiter can’t fix bad food, slow service and both hot food that...was cold and desserts that were too cold. After a long wait our cocktail arrived after we received our calamari which was extremely salty with a red sauce that tasted as if the chef simply opened a can of Hunts tomato sauce and poured it directly from the can into the sauce boat. The grouper set before my husband was inedible, impossible to cut. (How do you prepare a normally flaky moist fish to be tough?). Unfortunately , the blackberry sauce had started to separate and the string beans and potatoes were cold. I looked forward to the pork chop prepared in a Milanese style but someone needs to teach the chef what that means…the chop should have bern hammered to a thin cutlet before it was breaded and fried. My chop was a good 1”+ and topped with an excessive amount of over dressed salad. So many waiters and the assistants scurrying about and we still were ignored. When we finally got the waiter’s attention he suggested that my husband have a hamburger which wasn’t on the menu so we waited and waited. Why suggest an item not on the menu ? Why wasn’t his replacement meal expedited? This evening was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Did I mention our finished plates sat on the table as other cleared tables to our left and right? I could continue as stated I was disappointed at every turn.More

Stayed in a houseboat at the marina…….loved being able to walk to this upscale restaurant with water views! Place is crazy busy…..would recommend making reservations. Drinks were great and food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the filet mignon!

We went to Sailor's Return to celebrate our 60th anniversary. Dinner was excellent and service was great. We had a nice view of the marina also.

Such a nice ambiance on a chilly Florida evening. Susan was our waitress who was bubbly and attentive. She recommended the fish dip which was amazing with hot peppers, crackers, celery. and carrots. For dinner we split scallops with rosotto and mushrooms. What a delight....So flavorful and hot. I will definitely return and sample more on the menu.More

We recently celebrated a special surprise birthday with a party of 25, and Sailor's Return handled everything with perfection! Amanda, the event coordinator, helped customize a menu with great suggestions and accommodated all our requests. She was wonderful to work with from beginning to end....Tracy ensured the space was ready for us to decorate, and took care of the early arrivals. Niko and staff were beyond attentive and genuinely wanted everyone to be happy. And the cake! If you have not tried their house orange cake - it is a must! Their in-house baker, Crystal, decorated the most beautiful birthday cake in the same theme as the party, and the food could not have been better. Everyone, especially the guest of honor had a wonderful time, and I cannot recommend Sailor's Return enough. Thank you team for making my mom's special birthday, so special for everyone. -xoMore

We have been here many times over the years, so we were quite surprised by the low quality of the luncheons that we were served. There were 9 of us, and though complaints were not unanimous, I heard no praise. I ordered a lobster tail,...and my husband ordered chicken tacos. Mine was undercooked; his was cold. I had two glasses of wine. He was driving, so he had only 1 beer. The bill was just under $100-not worth half of that! One bright spot-Kylie, our server, was very attentive, courteous, and quick.More

Reservations recommended. Valet parking is a bonus as it was very busy on a Saturday. We were seated promptly in the outdoor patio of the resturant overlooking the dock. Service was prompt and a bit too fast for us. Enjoyed the Sailor Salad, Bread, Grilled...Salmon, Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops, Pecan Crusted Grouper and Chicken Cordon Bleu. Wines by the glass were good. Overall a nice meal but rushed as we were done in a hour.More

Our last night before heading home and we picked a winner! The food was excellent. We had a huge portobello mushroom with crabmeat on top it was unique and delicious. We had steaks and they even accommodated our request to add shrimp and scallops to...make it our own version of surf and turf. I wish I remembered our waiters name he was excellent (a local born and raised).More

This use to be a great restaurant, but now the food quality is awful. My husband and I both had fish dinner one grouper and one mahi, both were dry and tasteless, even the sides were awful. I couldn’t even eat the side that was...a coconut rice it was dry and tasteless. For the price they are charging you would hope for better food. The only saving grace was our server. Don’t waste your hard earned money. Both dinners cost $77.00 with tax not including gratuity and drinks.More

If you just want the view, a drink and listen to music this is the place, but not for food. We went for Thanksgiving dinner which was $40.00 and was very disappointed. One came out cold, the other was served with no dressing and the...other had to be sent back and redone and by the time the redone came out the rest had finished their meal. The food was nothing to rave about but I do have to say we had the best waiter We met another couple who told us they went there for Christmas last year and they would never return. Too bad because it could be the place to go.More

The food is as bland and of the same quality as anything you would get at an airport. The chicken salad was dry, tasteless, and served on a stale croissant. The “steak frites” had GRAVY on it but it still had no flavor. So disappointing...because the setting in the Marina is fabulous. Go for the lovely view, have a glass of wine. . . forget the food. ☹️More

We enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. I had the crab cakes and my husband had a pork chop (it was huge). Both meals were served with mashed potatoes and vegetable. We were given complimentary bread. Everything was tasty. There were nice waterfront views. Fortunately, we...were able to get a table without a reservation. I would go back.More
