The space at Surfing Deer is upscale, pretty, glittering. Lots of glass and aluminum. For dinner, I felt that diners (men) would want to wear pants and collared shirt. So, not as casual a place as most beach restaurants. Dinner presentation was, as with the...space, more formal than the typical beach place. It had the feeling of a James Beard Award contender. The prices were about right for this level of service and atmosphere, and in line with a more well known, very touristy location on PCB's Grand Lagoon where you can, I theory, "watch the fleet come in." Complimentary valet parking is available and I suggest you take it, otherwise, you will spend a lot of time looking for a unicorn parking place. The only option for shrimp on the night we dined was fried. Oysters were also fried but a raw appetizer might have been available. The Old Fashioned was very good. My wife had the short ribs which were very tender, served off the bone. If you are looking for a fried shrimp/oyster basket with fries, there are plenty of really good restaurants like that around Seagrove, but this is not that type of place.More
