Having lived near Lancaster Pa. my entire life, for this place to say it's like anything Amish is totally misleading. I understand they are really Mennonite but even that is a stretch. The gift shop was why standard gift shop, no Amish made or inspired...items. (Amish dolls, quilts, woodwork, etc). The buffet was very small with meats floating in water, mashed potatoes(?) brimming with oil, and really not much of a selection at all nor Amish foods. The bake shop has bagged goods yes, but no shoo fly pie? In face the Mennonite woman gave me a disgusted look when I asked saying"we don't make that here". Really? (And she had no idea what birch beer tastes like?) I was very excited to learn of an Amish area in Florida, but it's a2 block "town" of small houses and trailers, no farms, nothing Amish. Overall I was very disappointed.More

Well, it depends on your definition and experience. The welcome is warm and genuine from the young waitstaff. The food is wholesome and mostly simple and tasty. The pies are especially noteworthy. You could bring 60-80 of your friends or family in what is nearly...a mess hall sized couple acre dining room. We stopped for a breakfast and a dinner here while staying at the adjacent and co-owned Carlisle Inn. Here is a tip: the complimentary breakfast at he hotel is budget motel awful, with a few good items from down the street. If you prefer drinking real orange juice and coffee, come here and skip the complimentary orange and black water next door. There is a large bakery and gift store attached, but the focus should be on the food. Nothing exotic. Meat and potatoes, chcken, turkey, ham, meatloaf, etc.Non-alcoholic beverages run the gamut from milk, soda, coffee, juice. This is Amish country cooking, hearty and wholesome. Nourishing and a bit bland. Reasonable prices. You won't leave hungry. Satisfied? It depends on your objectives.More

Along with a pretty good blackened fish wrap I had an absolutely delicious carrot cake cupcake with a hot cup of coffee. Nice large cupcake that would perhaps make me order a smaller lunch to have more room for desserts.

We visited this restaurant as the reviews for their competitor didn't sound promising. I personally wouldn't come back. I grew up near the Pennsylvania Dutch and frequented Miller's Smorgasbord Restaurant in Ronks PA which has an amazing fresh buffet with a meat carving station. I...was disappointed as I found the meats underwhelming. The Roast Beef was dry, the Ham was just ok, the Roasted Turkey was mostly dark meat and sat in a tub of liquid. My husband liked the Broasted Chicken but the piece I got was dry. The sides were okay. They make fresh mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese but the yams tasted like they came out of a can and had brown sugar and marshmallows added as the topping. The frosting on the chocolate cake tasted like it came from a can and was overly sweet. The bread pudding was my favorite part of the meal. Just don't go with high hopes. Maybe ordering from their entree menu would be better but cannot confirm.More

The food was awesome! Bread and fried chicken and mashed were delicious. We had cream pie to go and I’ve never had better. The store was gigantic. Of course we had to try the cupcakes. Portions are plentiful.

Went for lunch here on a Tuesday because Yoder's was closed for the week. The dining room was sparsely populated at around 2pm which we didn't mind at all. We could either order off the menu or get the buffet - we opted for the...menu and both got broasted chicken and a side - mashed potatoes and home made noodles. The chicken was good and moist. The mashed potatoes were fine and the noodles were good as well. We opted for a slice of Dutch apple pie for dessert which was oddly underwhelming as we expected that to be the best part of the meal.More

Had been to Der Dutchman 3 other times over the years. My family had menu items and I ordered the all you can eat salad and hot bar. Salad was good with a variety of fresh vegetables and mixed salads such as Potato Salad, Pasta...Salad and desert salad with cottage cheese. Hot bar contained their Broasted Chicken, Sliced Turkey, Ham. Meat Loaf, BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese, slaw, red beet eggs, chicken salad, hot bread pudding, several cakes, hot rolls with their homemade apple butter and peanut butter. You will find a plethora of crafts and specialty gifts in the gift shop upstairs and baked goods, candies and confections downstairs. Great value for lunch and you will leave full.More

We just made a stop in for a pie but of course came out with more! So many choices and the prices are reasonable. Restaurant is located in the Pinecraft area of Sarasota. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We went to the bakery for morning treats. Great selection of cakes, cupcakes, fudge, donuts and apple fritters. We had an assortment of donuts and one apple fritter (huge) and they were delicious. They even had a cold case with a variety of milk. Very...friendly staff too. It’s worth a visit if you want some bakery treats! Ps this is all to go and entrance to bakery is on the side.More

This place is a return to real, minimally-processed food. They had meat, veggies, and salads, and I could tell that everything was whole food with simple ingredients while still being flavorful and tasty. They had seasonal specials that were unique and appetizing. I appreciated that...they had some gluten-free friendly options and they were clearly marked on the menu. There was enough free parking around the building, and the restaurant has a bakery and large gift store on the property as well.More

We arrived forty five minutes before the close of the buffet. The sausage was picked over and full of grease. The eggs were in a single glob. The fried mush was all stuck together. The bacon was crispy to the point of falling apart but...tasted wonderful. The gravy was way too thick. The orange sections and mixed fruit were the star of the meal. This was just a step better than Golden Coral for a couple of bucks more and way out of the way. This meal used to be much better here?More
