If you can appreciate Authentic Italian, in a small venue and Great personal service this is the place. When we visit Sarasota this is or favorite place to eat. We never miss an opportunity to dine there. You have to try this great little hidden secret in Sarasota and you will agree! I almost forgot to mention the homemade deserts ! Be sure to save room for one.

We recently booked the restaurant for a family event. The five course meal, the wine, and the service were all fantastic. The family that runs this place has roots in Italy and I’m certain old world recipes had a play in making the taste and freshness so authentically delicious. They made us a spectacular cake to commemorate the event with white chocolate frosting and strawberry filling.

We decided to try this restaurant after it was recommended by our City Trolley Tour Guide. It’s a small restaurant and I would recommend reservations because it filled up quickly after opening. The chef and his wife were very friendly and took time to talk with everyone. My husband loved his lasagna and I had THE most amazingly light gnocchi with spinach, cheese, and cream sauce. I would highly recommend a visit as soon as you can!

Let’s start with the absurd. Our bill included one glass of house chianti charged at $37. This was not the glass price, not even the bottle price. When called to the server’s attention, she apologized even before I explained the issue. Though I cannot be sure, it didn’t seem accidental. Now the food: the very expensive veal was not fresh veal, but a pounded veal patty. The red sauce tasted as if from a supermarket jar. The $11.95 cup of soup ( yes $11.95) tasted like water. The so-called Caesar salad was ordinary greens and a sad dressing. Here’s another way not to run a restaurant: bread service was six small slices nicely served in a cloth bag. If you want more bread, it will cost you another $4.50. The eggplant parmigiana was tasteless and swimming in the same apparently bottled sauce. Menu prices were an affront for what is not even an ordinary Italian restaurant. Stay away.

Cozy environment though a bit tight with too little space between tables, and very very loud on a Friday night in season. All that would be OK but I ordered one of the veal dishes and the cutlets were definately not hand pounded. Understanding restaurant distributor/vendor options I am confident that these very uniform (in size and thickness) veal "patties" were processed. They lacked flavor and texture, were tough and were not worth the $32 price. The pasta side was not much better. Sorry guys, I do not ever write resaurant reviews but could not let this stand.

Started with the Italian Sirpasso Toscana wine, to the Caprese Salad. The Lasagna Bolognese was AMAZING. Our group went back 2nd time in a week and I was able to then try the Gnocchi and Spinach mmmmm flavors. Sampled the many things friends enjoyed like the salmon and appetizers. Not sure everyone there is family but pretty sure- many speaking Italian and I'd guess it's a family owned "mama in the kitchen" place. Off the beaten path from downtown - therefore very fairly priced combined with a genuine home cooked Italian experience. Will go back again. Highly recommend. Get there early with a large group - it's a small restaurant but very intimate and memorable.

I have been to this restaurant many times in the past couple of years with many friends. During covid we were often one of two or three tables, but we supported them because the food was always, at least, very good. Now I find my calls not returned and the final insult this past Thursday. I made a reservation for 4 but received no call back to confirm, one of the other guests called to make the same reservation - miracle, someone answered the phone and confirmed. Our reservation was for 7PM and we arrived about 2 minutes before. It was a busy night and most tables were occupied. We were directed, not lead, to an area where there were two tables. We awkwardly stood there for about a minute before we could get someone's attention to tell us which table. After sitting down we waited 5, 10, +more minutes and no service. The staff walked by many times and spoke to the tables around us, but not a word to us. No wine, no menu, no water, zip. After a few more minutes we decided to give them a couple more minutes. Three minutes later we left, not to return! We had a wonderful Italian dinner at one of our other favorites. It is very disappointing that our past patronage (a couple of thousand dollars over about 2 years) was totally unappreciated! They have our phone numbers, but are apparently too full of themselves to bother to apologize!

This was our first visit to D’Corato and I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. This is a very nice, friendly family-run restaurant. To me, it doesn’t rise to 5 stars, but they do very good job, albeit on a small scale. It’s a bit of a hidden gem. My wife and I split the caprese salad starter. The tomatoes were quite good, considering they are not in season locally. The fish of the night was cod and we both ordered the Cernia presentation - a light tomato sauce with shellfish - delicious! The wine list wasn’t extensive, but it was adequate and the prices were reasonable. At the end of dinner, we made a reservation to return in two weeks with friends.

My husband and I went on a date night and had the absolute best evening. The food was incredible. Starting with the appetizer; Shrimp and Calamari in red sauce, my husband continued to roll his eyes in love because the sauce was spot on incredible. Our main course was even better with Lobster Ravioli and the Barase fish which both melted in your mouth. You will not be disappointed with this restaurant and we will be back with friends.

D'Corato Ristorante is the epitome of Italian family dining pleasure. The atmosphere is authentic. The food is always amazing, "Mama" and her son Vincenzo make all the food from fresh locally sourced products, then the magic combination of flavor and ingredients takes place. The presentation is immaculate and the portions reflect that. Accompanied by an extensive wine selection every visit is a family affair as Dad prepares cocktails and Vencenzo greets you before retiring to the kitchen. Dessert....Trimasu to die for, generous portions, is our favorite accompanied by fresh brewed Cappuccino finishes a leisurely interlude

We have been coming to this little family owned Italian restaurant for years. The food is always delicious. We decided to have an early New Year’s Eve dinner. They have an outdoor patio which isn’t used much but works for us due to Covid concerns. We each chose a homemade pasta special. Pear and ricotta ravioli in a parmigiana cheese sauce for me and gnocchi stuffed with Asiago and Gorgonzola cheese for my husband. Both dishes were amazing. I used the bread to clean the plate of every drop of sauce! There was only one dessert which was sfogliatella Napoletana, described as a traditional many-layered seashell shape and rich semolina and ricotta filling for this classic Neapolitan pastry. This was probably the best pastry I have ever had and we both finished every bite. This is truly a hidden gem in Sarasota!

We discovered this place a few years ago and to me it was like reliving my trip to Italy. The Italian music set a beautiful atmosphere and the small size made you feel like you were in a little cafe in Italy. Then came the BREAD. Wow! Best freshest bread and crust I have had since my Italian mother made it over 50 years ago. I had the chicken marsala and my wife the ravioli and both were fantastic. Went thru 4 little loaves of bread. The topper was the Taramizu which was the best I ever had. The service was great as the 2 sons were attentive while their mom prepared the meals. We took our friends who also loved it. We will dine here at least 8-10 times a year from now on. Great for romantic date.
