Fine Italian food in downtown Sarasota with outdoor dining and a nostalgic bar that is family friendly. Memories are being served. Caragiulos became one of Sarasota’s most popular eateries in much the same way the family found the cozy storefront on Palm Avenue, with… ease. From his bakery in Brooklyn, Tony Caragiulo and his five sons came to Florida in pursuit of an agreeable location to open a simple Italian restaurant. After an exhausting, two week long car trek around Florida with no prospects and tempers flaring, Tony signaled for the car to pull over; “Stoppa the*#!*#!!!!car!,… This is it,” he declared, pointing to the vacant stucco location… And it was.
Absolutely excellent meal and terrific service. From appetizer to incredible dessert. My friend and I agreed that it was one of the best meals we've had in Sarasota and I've lived here for almost 50 years. Even with the covid virus we felt safe, well...taken care of and the prices were very reasonable. We will be coming back very soon with other friends for another enjoyable experience. Went late on an October weeknight so it was quiet. Inside of the restaurant is very attractive, but we asked if we coudl sit outside as the night was so nice. Lovely outdoor seating patio. Friendly, attentive wait staff. Interesting cocktails. Had the calamari fritto...misto to start...nice. Wife had the Rigatoni Pasolini, I had the lasagna. Both were very good. Prices were reasonable, too. Will definitely return when next in Sarasota.More
Food and service below average. I recall this restaurant offering a much better experience. Food taste and quality just not that good and service was slow and inattentive. So many other good choices downtown, cannot recommend
CAUTION!! Stay away if you value your health more than the acceptable food at this place.
Picked up take away food and about half the staff wasn’t masked or had them AROUND THEIR NECKS!!
The fellow who asked for my payment didn’t have his over...his nose and the bar tender served food to patrons with NO covering.
Even the manager (I assume he was, ashe appeared to be directing the staff) had a bandana around his neck. Guess he wanted to look like John Wayne, but I wasn’t amused.
When I complained that many weren’t following CDC recommendations, he asserted he was 6 ft away — but I never saw a tape measure; his 6 feet is shorter than mine.
I wonder what went on in the kitchen (occurred to me after eating!! OMG...)?
Why don’t these people understand that a mask AND distance are the best mitigation for spreading a disease that can spread from folks who are still feeling WELL!!
I’m staying away, maybe forever, and I strongly suggest YOU DO Too!!!More
We arrived at 5:45 PM, (opens at 5 PM for dinner), but all the tables were full. We were lucky enough to grab 2 of the four stools at the bar. The service was better than table service we have experienced in the past. Food...was wonderfulMore
