It is Greek to me....

El Greco has been around for a long time. There are very few Greek restaurants in Sarasota so this has become our go to place. Is it great? No, but if you want good chicken kabob or Greek salad....these are very satisfying. Do not forget to take a ouzo flavored hard candy before you leave.

Nice interior with large unobstructed windows to pedestrians and traffic. The seafood appetizer with octopus was the main reason we dined here today. It was accompanied by 6 nicely grilled shrimp and lightly battered calamari rings. The real star was the delicious marinara sauce. One of the best meals I’ve eaten. The next time we dine there, I’m ordering something... More

Had a great dinner with attentive service at a very fair price. I could tell that El Greco was being frequented by locals and tourists alike which is always a good sign.

Wow what a nice surprise ! My wife Sylvia and I are snowbirds and have been living downtown for 6 years after spending 20 on long boat key. The kids wanted pizza, so of course we picked El Greco whenever the grand kids are here. We love the Greek salad ! When we noticed that there are some new Great... More

I have never gone to a Greek restaurant and was disappointed. This must be my first. The gyro platter which my daughter ordered was very dry. You would think they should be able to make that in their sleep. I ordered the special pompano fish. That was also dry and tasteless. The only good thing was the service.

Much of the food was good. Moussaka, spanakopita, pastichio, stuffed grape leaves and mixed appetizers. Ranged from good to very good. Soup was fair. Gyro was the worst I have tasted, I think it was spoiled. Service was very slow and inattentive. We had to wait one hour and twenty minutes between ordering and main dishes arriving. The apps arrived... More

The Restaurant is very nice, the staff is kind and nice, the owners are very courteous and, most of all, the FOOD is delicious, well prepared and FRESH. You can feel that you are really eating good quality food. Also, said by an italian, their Stromboli is very good. We always take a chance to go to El Greco when... More

I've eaten here for business lunches several times because it's a good central location, reasonably priced and decent food. Plus you can eat inside or outside, and they have tablecloths. The food, Greek or otherwise can sometimes be hit or miss, but is mostly pretty good. I keep coming back. Gotta park, though, which is difficult during tourist season. Good... More

Four of us dined here on a Sunday night. The salads were fresh and plentiful. But the lamb shish kebab was very disappointing. Although I ordered it medium, it arrived well done with gristle and fat, making it difficult to chew and pretty much unidentifiable as lamb. The portion of accompanying rice was skimpy. My companion had the gyro platter... More
