The Bijou is an institution in a town with many fine restaurants, because it is a cut above. I am happy to support its reopening on my friend’s birthday. She enjoyed a fine Shiraz, and I had a gin basil smash that was a refreshing...cocktail. The Shrimp Piri had heat but was not a tastebud killer. For our entries, we both ordered a specialty, the rack of lamb, medium rare. And oh, those au gratin potatoes were perfection. For dessert, the carrot cake was creatively deconstructed, with cream cheese filling inside a sweet and gooey treat.
Both of us are Covid Cautious, and we sat on the lovely patio, recessed from the sidewalk, to enjoy dinner and the balmy breezes. The tables were appropriately distanced, and our debonair server Grayson wore a mask.
The Bijou also has carry out and curbside pickup. If you want to celebrate a special occasion or the joy of being alive, I highly recommend it.More
