We eat out way too often; and find ourselves at Mediterraneo quire a lot. The staff are pleasant, and very attentive, the atmosphere warm and cozy. A good Vino selection, although not a very generous pour for the price. Osso Bucco is always delish, and the pastas are never a disappointment. For an intimate evening, this is the place to... More

Being across from the Hollywood 20 cineplex makes this place one of the very first places visitors to Sarasota go to on their first visit. I know it was for me. It has a wonderful atmosphere with a sort of homey spirit. The menu is diverse with pasta, seafood and pizza. The one thing the menu needs to "beef" up... More

Friends had recommended this Sarasota mainstay for years. Last night, Aug 27, 2016, we finally joined them there. I regret waiting so long. This is a tremendous restaurant. Elegantly decorated & lit, quiet & sumptuous. I enjoyed probably the best leg of lamb, osso bucco style, I've ever eaten. Another guest enjoyed a stellar Rockfish (striped bass) special. Another ate... More

When we saw the salads cost $11, we figured they were huge, and maybe we should split one. We asked the waitress, and she made a bowl with her hands and said the salads were a pretty good size--not enough to be a meal but big enough to share, along with an entree. Well, I had what is commonly known... More

Stopped in with my wife, my son and his girlfriend after dropping him off at New College. Really a nice, authentic Italian restaurant with a solid mix of old standards and modern entrees. Excellent apps and entrees... can't comment on the desserts... we were all too full. Great bread, too!

Wow! We absolutely loved this restaurant!! We recently found it by visiting another restaurant nearby. We had no idea that they've been open twenty years. Recently renovated, this restaurant has a nice lounge area out front and beautiful warm dining area in the back. The food was simply delicious! I loved the wood oven baked mozzarella with Speck. The veal... More

This restaurant seems to be the place to dine prior to theater or other production. Last night 6 of us were shown to a nice round table. The place is so loud no wonder staff forgets to bring requested items to the table. Pasta, pasta and pizza seem to overwhelm the menu. The Osso Buco special was chosen by two... More

Food was good, but not amazing. Jumbo shrimp was tasty. Risotto a little undercooked. They service was lacking. Not very friendly and seemed a little judgey.

Although a Sarasota mainstay, the food here is mediocre. Eat the pasta - and walk around like a slug for the next two days - and very expensive for what you get. Restaurant is extremely noisy as well

With its modern but classic Italian cuisine and emphasis on artisanal and contemporary Northern Italian style, Mediterraneo is often credited with being the first restaurant to bring authentic contemporary Italian cuisine to Sarasota when it first opened in 1996. Still under the same ownership, Mediterraneo has consistently been rated one of the top restaurants in Zagat. The restaurant has received numerous accolades including the acclaimed Insegna Del Ristorante Italiano awarded by The Minister of Agriculture & Commerce in Rome. With its highest honor, inducting the restaurant into its Accademia Italiana della Cucina "Fine Dining Hall of Fame." Mediterraneo has been rated as Best of the Best in Sarasota Magazine since the first year of opening. So whether you're celebrating a special occasion or grabbing a quick bite to eat, at Mediterraneo you are always assured the best quality food accompanied by excellent service. All of it thoroughly Italian.
