Love the ambiance of this place. Lots of plant decorations, although they're plastic and I'd prefer real plants, they're still lovely and add a lot to the atmosphere in this spacious restaurant. Of course it's a more expensive vegan restaurant and we paid $85 for two people (including tip) but had a great time and left satisfied because thankfully, the portions were a good medium size! My mom enjoyed the papaya avocado salad, although we needed more lemon dressing and they charged us an extra $2 for that without telling us even though I assumed it would cost extra. The vegan escargot is salty, as you should expect, but has a great flavored butter nooch dip. The risotto in the stuffed tomato entree had a wonderful flavor, although it wasa bit oily and I would have preferred chopped up bell peppers in it rather than grilled mini whole ones on the side in a plain bed of lettuce (the extra salad dressing came in handy there). The skillet cookie with custard is piping hot but super tasty, and the piña colada mocktail's flavor is Perfect but I would have preferred it to be blended rather than on the rocks. The mother and daughter owners work there, and the mother served us our entrees and was super sweet, so go support this newer restaurant! It was only the two of them and one female server working there, and everyone was friendly. Service wasn't speedy at first but didn't take too long either, especially when they got going on the courses. Would love to come back when I'm back in town and try the spinach artichoke dip next.

My husband and I went for dinner and we’re blown away by the ambiance and food. Neither of us are vegan, but are in the midst of a health journey so have been trying to remove gluten and dairy from our diets. The food felt inspiring to see how delicious meals can be made solely from plants. PLUS… there were 3 women running the whole show, helping each other out with the serving cooking and cleaning up. These are the types of local establishments I love to support. We will be back!!

Six of us came to the restaurant tonight. We ALL had great meals, and the service was 5 stars! Our waitress Elissa was so attentive and eager to go the extra mile to check on dietary issues. As we ate, we were greeted by one of the owners who came to the table to welcome us. A very nice touch. As we were leaving her daughter, the other owner, came out to talk to me about the menus and my restrictions. She was very helpful, caring and explained to me how she could make the menu work for me. SO VERY THOUGHTFUL and appreciated. Oh, and did I mention the food was fabulous? and the service? This is a MUST GO TO restaurant. Can't imagine anyone being disappointed.

I cannot comment on the food because after 90 minutes I gave up. There were four in our party and two got appetizers (all four of us ordered them) after an hour another showed up 15 minutes later and mine never came. Another table waited 2 hours for food and their first course was a salad! If you’re not ready to open do not open. There are serious issues with the kitchen that need to be ironed out before you go. Did the owner get up that morning and decide she wanted to ruin people’s dinner? Of course not but that’s what she did. We all left after 3 appetizers and 90 minutes. I would avoid this place until they figure it out. If you don’t mind a 90 minute wait or even a 2 hour wait and have the patience of a saint give it a try now.

My husband and I went for dinner several weeks ago for the first time. When I made our reservation I spoke to Kim, one of the owners, to see if she could accommodate my dietary needs. I am not only vegan but also can’t have any sugar, sugar substitutes or oils of any kind. She was happy to make adjustments to the menu which would satisfy my needs. My husband is not vegan, he’s a meat and potato guy. We BOTH LOVED our dinners! In fact, we go back twice every week and have not been disappointed, it’s our new favorite restaurant!
The food is creative, unique, most delicious yet reasonably priced. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and will go out of their way to satisfy dietary requests. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Kim and her mother, Bella, own the restaurant. They are both warm, charming and strive to please the customer. Ka Papa is by far the best vegan restaurant in Sarasota. We are lucky to have it!

My wife and I went with three friends for the first time. While it is Vegan, Whole Food Plant based, we cause issues because we don't do oil or nuts. They worked with us and it was just fantastic. I don't do vegan wine so we took our own for which they had a corking fee (not sure if they charged us or not as I didn't look at the itemized check when I paid the bill). What a great find as we already made reservations to go back this coming week with my wife's parents.

So, they are working out the kinks and it will take some time for the kitchen to get into a rhythm with the crowds but the food is well prepared and delicious. The atmosphere is laid back and it can get really loud but fun. I would highly recommend the French onion soup and the stuffed tomato. The mocktails are so-so. they are tasty but don't really taste like the actual drink they are mimicking. Still, I enjoyed my "mojito."

I am vegan, my husband is plant based and we took one of our adult daughters who is in no way into plant based food. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, decor, wines, service- did I miss anything? It is not a fast food restaurant and we didn’t get our food instantly but not a long wait and all three courses we had were great. So happy to be able to choose any dish on the menu and not have to check for dairy, chicken stock etc. we will be returning soon with our

Beautiful atmosphere, friendly and sweet staff, and OMG THE FOOD. 😍 There were such incredible aromas coming out of the kitchen that we hoped every one of them was ours. The shiitake escargot is one of my new favorite things and holy smokes, the warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and caramel. 😋 This was our first visit and we’ll be back very soon.

We went for our anniversary dinner. The food was exceptional, and our waitress was excellent. It is so wonderful to be able to eat in a nice upscale restaurant without having to order a salad or a couple of side dishes for dinner.

OMG! I was having a beet salad and avoiding the feta, then realized it was ALL plant based. These chefs know how to prepare truly delicious plant based meals. The pasta with pesto, my favorite, is far better than any of the pesto dishes I've had in local Italian restaurants. My dessert-could not believe a plant based whipped cream could be so close to the real thing-my favorite indulgence. With meals like this it's easy to eat out and eat healthy. Most do not realize the preparation that goes into producing a fine plant based meal. Meat eating husband enjoyed as well. Cannot wait to return.

Liked the food, place and service. But the evening ended with the seven of us trying to figure out who owed what and passing cash across the table because the restaurant would not split the bill up four ways. Also, the automatic addition of a 22% tip was excessive. Bottom line I will not go back.

Hi James! Thank you for your review! We apologize for the confusion with the check and automatic tip. There were definitely a few bumps in the road being a new'er restaurant and smoothing out the front of house interactions. We absolutely split the checks as many times as needed with our current system and there's no automatic 22% tip for any regular dining. I think you may live in China, but if you're in our area please stop in and we will gladly make it up to you! We have a few new items on the menu as well! Thanks again, KaPapa Cuisine

Had dinner here last night. An amazing experience. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Our server, Tucker, was great. She was knowledgeable, friendly, professional and just the right amount of attentive. My wife, my daughter and I were all greatly impressed with our food and the overall experience. We all absolutely loved the Cast Iron Cookie desert. We will definitely come back.

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and was totally amazed. I am not a vegan and everything I ate was absolutely incredible. I would highly recommend everyone check this treasure out. The owner was truly a delight as was our wait staff, Yoga.

We visited Ka Papa when it was very new. We were delighted by the plant-based menu and the fact that this is a lovely date-worthy restaurant. The menu variety was fun, the service friendly, and the food delectable. We'll be back.
