Went last weekend, and had steamed clams. Only $6 a dozen! They even offer to go raw clams, for $3 a dozen, that you can make at home. Friendly staff, place is okay, but food is great!

We decided on Monks based on Trip Advisor reviews. I was not sure my GPS was working right as we entered this little side street. We saw a number of little restaurants and by the end of the street we found Monks. We sat outside and got a drink and while the menu was small, it had little neck clams which is my wife's flavor of the month. She ordered a couple dozen and we also ordered the shrimp, seafood bisque and Monk Bread. It was soooo good we ordered the whole thing again. We left fat and happy. The prices were quite decent. Our server was friendly and efficient.

Lived the personal Playlist. “Amy”. The clams were awesome. Only wish I had som crushy bread to soak up that fab garlic butter. Crackers worked in a pinch. Oysters didnt need anything but a squirt of lemon. Bigger gulf coast ones tasted great with the addition of a lil horseradish. You know oyster livers what I mean. Good oysters stand alone on their lovely liquor. Guys that took care of me at the bar. I felt the love. Thanks. ❤️💋😘 Ill be back!!

Why ruin good seafood? We have had really good steamed seafood at other restaurants and at our own home. We found this place to be very disappointing mostly because they completely soak their food in oil. Cheap oil at that. They also serve fake butter to dip the over steamed crab legs in. The crawfish had soaked up so much oil it was more like drinking them rather than eating. They were left on the plate. We spent $90 and left hungry. One and done.

I've been going to Monk's for 20 years now. The bartenders are good but waiters have attitudes and the Gulf Gate area has become really bad there. Homeless people in area. Multiple tattoo parlors. Dirty!

If you are a foodie and want to pay for delicious seafood do not eat here. The “Cajun” crawfish had no flavor. The oysters were so discussing looking and huge we couldn’t eat them. We’ve had oysters from all over the us and this was the first time we got nauseas.

We're always on the hunt for fresh oysters on the half shell and this place didn't disappoint. They were awesome! We also had the peel and eat shrimp and the mussels. They were THE best mussels we've had and that's a compliment from an east-coaster! Also, buy a jar of their serrano hot sauce. So good! We look forward to coming back!

This place is great! We love Monks, the staff, the food, and the environment. The environment is casual and the food is EXCELLENT. Everything on the menu is good but our favorites are the Oysters, Steamed Shrimp, Snow Crab Legs and Mussels. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been going to Monks for ten years or better. The seafood is consistently good and the service is consistently quick and friendly. This is not a fancy place. It is a nice size bar establishment with covered outdoor seating, lots of TVs with sports, a steamer table and limited menu involving steamed seafood and a few things to placate those who don't like raw or steamed seafood. There's a review on here that says the oysters were too big and therefore it was an awful place. Monks has gulf oysters. A. They don't normally have east coast or Pacific oysters the size of a quarter. I like gulf oysters and

Monk’s is the most legit oyster/steamer bar around. Small establishment and the 3 guys running the shows were BEASTS. Well oiled machine for sure to be able to handle allll the patrons with just 3. Food was excellent and VERY reasonably priced. Tyler knows how to make some good drinks! Can’t wait to come back!

Been 3 places this afternoon cruising. This place has the best service, the best steamed seafood AND the best policing of social distancing. Not invasive, just "Welcome, 5 of you? Let's have you sit over here." Pleasant, fast and good pours. Why wouldn't you come here?

The crawfish and shrimp were exactly how they should be. I like to go early before the bar crowd settles in. Great spot to hit at 4:00pm for a warmup before dinner at 7:00pm. Atmosphere reeks of 1997 but it didn’t bother me a bit. Food alone is worth a stop in, at least once. I go back every year I visit Siesta Keys.

The wait staff are beyond friendly. We just randomly stopped in. The waitresses were so sweet. We had clams and Oysters Monkefellas at the recommendation of our waitress. The prices are also reasonable. I will hope to go back for sure!

Worst restaurant I've ever been to. The Florida Snow Crab is not from Florida. I wasted $35 on that fraudulent rip off thinking it was Florida crab. Nothing on the menu is from Florida as is claimed. The waiter will tell you the truth about the countries such as China where their food is shipped in from. The oysters are gross and inedible. My friends order the shrimp as it's the only item not misidentified and overly priced, but it looks dark and gross.

This place has no business being so good. Every time I come with family, friends, or solo it’s so delicious and the drinks are strong!
