Recently, I had breakfast with my photographer friends at The Breakfast House after a birding shoot on nearby Lido Beach. This is our go-to place after a morning of photography in the Sarasota area. Most of the seating is on the patio under big umbrellas behind the cute Old Florida house. Our party of 7 was sated there. Lindsey, our server was just great. I had the Make Your Own Omelet with sausage, mushroom, provolone cheese and I had a side of cheese grits and sourdough bread ($13.99). It was all delicious. We just can’t get enough of this place and look forward to returning soon.

This is an absolute must for a great breakfast or brunch! We sat outside on a hot day, it was shaded with fans so it was quite nice to be in the lovely garden. The inside looked great as well though. Loved the unique menu, different than other favs in the area. We ordered the Lavender Blueberry pancakes - they melt in your mouth with the tastiest of flavors. The delicate lemon with the other flavors will have your mouth doing the happy dance. I can see how the pancakes are award winning! We then ordered the Lobster/Shrimp eggs benedict. I cannot believe how much lobster we got for the price! The best eggs benedict I have ever had!!!! The english muffin appeared to be homemade, the egg perfectly poached and the hollandaise was delicate and fresh - and the perfect amount to complement the food and not drown it. Had with a side of cheese grits, which were excellent on their own. We loved all of the delicate touches too - the little flamingoes peeking through the plants, the loose leaf tea served in its own pot (not having to wait for more), the tiny watering can for the check, etc. Can't wait to go back - the most difficult thing is figuring out what to pick from the menu because it all sounds amazing!

always loved breakfast at this adorable and quirky place but had not been back for years due to our travel schedules. It was on our must-do list for this sarasota trip! Lucky for us they were OPEN (wow!) the morning before hurricane Helene, when most businesses were closed and boarded up. We were so glad they were open. We had a lovely late breakfast. The french toast stuffed with cream cheese and berry compote has always been my fave and it is still so spectacular and delicious. Also very pretty. Highly recommend!! Husband got corned beef breakfast hash, side of lemon blueberry pancakes and a side of grits. We ate everything! Service was excellent and friendly. Our meals came out quickly. Thanks breakfast house! We will be back!

Upon our visit to a quaint, aged residence converted into a dining establishment, we found the cuisine to be quite satisfying. However, the atmosphere was marred by an individual, who I believe to be the owner, exhibiting signs of severe stress. Their negative demeanor was palpable, and their interactions with patrons were far from cordial.
From the way she walked, wiped tables and seated guests without able to even fake a smile, her negative energy could be felt from a mile away.
We were a party of four, including an infant in a car seat, and were graciously provided with toys to entertain the children. The children were seated and engaging in play, not causing disruption or roaming about. Despite their behavior, the owner saw it fitting to reprimand them for "screaming". She positioned herself merely two feet from their faces, emphatically uttering "shhh" for approximately twenty-five seconds, thereby creating a spectacle and discomfort amongst the other patrons. The adults in the establishment were engaged in conversation at a louder decibel than the children, yet the room fell silent upon hearing her admonition. Following her departure, the general sentiment amongst the patrons was one of shock and disapproval towards the owner's behavior.
Subsequently, we were pressured to vacate our table, by her snatching the toys from the children and insisted on seating another party. This occurred a mere twenty-five minutes after our arrival.
Upon our departure, i communicated our grievances to the woman, who defended her actions by claiming the children were disruptive. This was not the case, as the children were well-behaved and not causing a disturbance.
Should one seek a welcoming, amicable environment, I would recommend exploring alternative dining options. There are, indeed, many other establishments that offer a more pleasant dining experience than this particular, compact residence with its discontented proprietor. You can look up similar negative experiences by clicking LOWEST in the top right corner of the review section.
Added is a photo of my son (8) sad and uncomfortable and confused after she scolded them.

Pineapple, pancakes, eggs Benedict were delicious! The potatoes were okay. The place was really busy, but I made sure the tables got moved along. She actually asked one table to take their conversations somewhere else because they were just sitting talking after they had breakfast.. Being a business owner myself I think I would have been a little more tactful. As far as the food you can’t go wrong.

Visited for breakfast. There was a wait to get a table but it was reasonable.
Pancakes are good, they have a rustic flavor to them.
Service was decent, could have used a coffee refill sooner and flagged down the busy server.
Eggs were cooked nicely to order. Potatoes were good.
The corned beef has was not to our taste; it had a meatloaf like flavor to it.

Both the omelette and the blueberry pancakes were very good. The only downfall is the thinly cut ham. You get two pieces but very thin, reminds you of packaged ham slices instead of serving one thicker slice of ham. Service is very good. Be prepared to wait as it’s always busy. Indoor and outdoor dining.

Wendy (the owner) mixes her own recipes with those of her mom and grandmother for a delicious breakfast (or lunch). They have lots of gluten free options and are very accommodating in the kitchen if you have food allergies. All of the food was outstanding and they have some unusual combos (eg caprese eggs Benedict with sun dried tomatoes). You’re gonna like this place. They have outside and indoor And they are so nice too!

Thought we’d try one of Sarasota’s acclaimed breakfast places, what a disappointment. First asked server for internet password, said she couldn’t remember but ask owner, asked owner and she stated that she had no office on site and consequently no internet. Funny how the internet worked when it came time to use a credit card and a cc processing fee added to all checks. Maybe there’s a dial up modem somewhere and they are processing the old fashion way.
Dropped my set up on floor and realized how dirty the place was, early AM so obviously floors had not been cleaned from night before.
Ordered an omelet, it was dry, warm at best and canned olives were cut to precision, let alone tasteless.
So the food was mediocre, the place could have been cleaner and the owner was maybe less than honest. Lots of upcharges on menu, easily solved by just charging more across the menu. Realize it’s tough time for restaurants during Covid, but no excuse for shortcomings.

I normally don’t write bad reviews about places but I feel the need to warn people not to come to this restaurant. For starters there was flies at our table, which the only reason I didn’t complain was because we were seated right next to the door and I really wanted to give this restaurant a try. My niece ordered a tea that was watered down so we kindly asked for another beverage, my french toast was so soggy and did not have a pleasant taste at all, so I respectfully advised the waiter I was not satisfied with it. We didn’t even complain about our watered down hot chocolate and the omelet that was microwaved eggs with sliced toppings thrown in, the cheese wasn’t even melted, we just dealt with it because we didn’t want to complain anymore. Two minutes later the owner Wendy walks over speaking very loud“ I heard you didn’t like the tea or the french toast Jesus we can’t do anything to make you happy” she then tells me next time if I don’t like something to don’t order it because she had to throw it away. Well if I knew the service and food was going to be awful I wouldn’t have came in the first place and I’m sorry if you can’t afford to loose a couple slices of French toast to make sure a paying customer is happy and satisfied so that you can have returning customers then maybe you shouldn’t be in this field of business. Our server was so embarrassed and apologetic as we left the restaurant. Although it was the worst experience I’ve ever had dinning I will say that I am at least grateful that our sever Chichi had the decency to apologize for our bad experience and for the owners behavior.

The first time it was just the two of us and it was good but not great. Same issues as this time. We figured we give it another try bc the food itself wasn’t terrible. It is cute inside with all the color themed tables. However the older woman greeting at the door has a bad attitude to everyone. Pushy and extremely dismissive. We tried to look past it and sat at our table and the waitress seems high on some sort of upper my guess. She was rushing the older woman out of her way as she was trying to get to other tables by motioning for her to move without verbally expressing. The waitress was then short and to the point. Coming from the medical field we would refer to this as no bedside manor not sure of the jargon for restaurant business. Just to have our food slammed on the table not in a rude way but in a rushed way; it was bland. Our 17 year old daughter who eats everything wouldn’t even eat the food.

Awful treatment of a service dog. Wasn’t sure if we’d be allowed in and were unwilling to sit outside in 90 degree sun. When explained that this was a service dog she said the area is small and we understand her worry completely, she gave us dirty looks and attitude about it and then no actual answer if we would even be allowed to eat indoors. being that rude was uncalled for. Immediately felt unwelcome and did not want to give any money to this place. No rude words were exchanged, we didn’t treat anyone badly to be treated like we were a problem. Food might be great but being treated like that wasn’t worth waiting for food. Treating all service dogs like they’re fake is a terrible business practice. Costs nothing to be nice to people.

This was one of our favorite meals of the trip - went late morning on a Saturday and only had to wait about 15 minutes for indoor seating. The blueberry pancakes were some of the best I’ve ever had and the sausage gravy and biscuits were also amazing. Bacon was thick and crispy, orange juice was fresh. Not badly priced for how much food we got/how full we were!

We love it here. All the food is good. When you order something with maple syrup they give you a whole pitcher of it and do not charge extra. Good service and good food. A little on the pricey side but worth it

After dining here many times in the past, it was always something to look forward to with Its Key West charm.
Tasty food and good service.
Well, todays visit was disappointing.
The restaurant looks tired and unkept. There are flys flying around ( maybe they should think of a way to control this) painted walls have dirt on them and corners of floor filled with dirt. It needs fresh paint and a good spring cleaning both inside and out. The service, like a good deal of restaurants today, was spread thin. Food comes out cold and you feel bad sending back. It will
be some time before I think of dining here, especially when there are so many cute cafes with ambiance as well as good food.
