We had been waiting for the right moment to try out this wonderful restaurant ...and WOW!!! ...it was simply FANTASTIC! ...really cool decor with its exceptional artwork and design ...wonderful background music ...followed up with an incredible band ...really great and tasty Chingona Mojit cocktails ...a glorious chefs pasta special prepared PERFECTLY ...glorious Thai Bouillabaisse, Adelsheim BTG, Croquettes ...and a great finish of Chocolate Cake and Sarasota Still! ...WOW! ...what a fun and tasty ride! ...oh! and our server Marley G guided us through the whole process with professionalism, courtesy, and a touch of history about the Ringling era fabulous structure. We will DEFINITELY be returning soon! Rick & Barbie

Pretentious and expensive . Expensive for NOTHING! The portions were tiny and had no flavor . I am a gourmet cook , and i can tell good cuisine from the rest . This place is not worth the trouble . Of course if one wants to he impressed by appearance and pay fo that , bon appetit!

We went with two other couples pre theater. The decor was lovely and the waitress was great, but the food was awful! Couldn't even believe it. We all got different entrees, and no one had a good meal! I almost felt like they forgot to season or sear my "seared" fish dish

We had reservations this evening for my husbands birthday. He wanted to come back after his great experience prior. Tonight was a disappointment.. our server was sweet. Salad okay, martini s ok, foie gras okay, our meals terrible. We ordered signature bouillabaisse, cold awful, husband excited to have the veal tomahawk, tough and tasteless. $295 dinner times for DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE.

Good meal but maybe overpriced. Started with foie gras and caesar salad. Both good but $28 for one piece of foie gras, too much. Veal tomahawk very good and wife’s chicken excellent. Again, almost $60 for Veal Chop. Service almost too attentive.

The roof top bar was not terribly busy, but the bartender did not ask me for my order for 20 minutes, continuing to take orders from customers that arrived after me. I finally told her I was ready to order and received a my drink shortly. Several more members of our party arrived and they waited for nearly 20 minutes to order. The bartender forgot one of the items and when asked for it she told my friend that she was “busy”, and that he needed to wait. The customer questioned her response and she called her manager who proceed to tell us to get out, returning my credit card without a charge. The manager never asked us for an explanation of what transpired. We will never return - the employee is now more valued than the customer at this location.

Pretentious and pricey menu and slow slow service. Food was excellent but added a 20% tip for non existent service. Never going back!

I found the menu difficult because there was nothing I like. I don't like pork, Boullibase (aka fish soup), Pea soup which BTW is served chilled but does not tell u. hunk of chicken, or creamy corn. Brazino is $62.00 seems like too much for 1 person. The cocktails start around $20 and up. very different. Drinks are strictly poured. We went to the roof top where the drinks were not the same as the restaurant, cheaper and horrible.

From the minute you walk in at the front desk until you have to leave pleasure. I had Jonathan for a server he was very knowledgeable and pleasure to talk to start it off with a vouvray white wine then the Caesar salad it was scrumptious then the evening was topped off with seafood diavolo. Impressive service food atmosphere!

Sage is without doubt the restaurant we look forward to visiting with greater anticipation than a child waiting for Christmas. Sage is more than a restaurant. It’s an escape, an outstanding experience from the moment you’re greeted until the moment you depart, looking back over your shoulder as though you’re leaving a long lost love, Sage captures you with its history, its deep wood tones, gentle, unobtrusive music, beautifully schooled staff and comfortable seating. The menu sets the imagination alight with promises of adventures in cuisine not normally found outside the gastronomical centers of this planet, Sage and it’s chef Christopher Covelli are equal to and surpass the exceptional presentations and creations of many of the world’s leading restaurants. Their timing is perfect. Each course arrives exactly when it should, a plated parade of colours, aromas, visual artistry and promises that cause the guest to inhale deeply in awe. First bites are delightful surprises; memories in the making, like falling in love for the first time. There is no second guessing anything Sage presents; they’ve achieved perfection with each new course. Our server Tim was our guide and he helped point us in the directions we wanted to go. If food is a passion for you as it is for us, go to Sage. It’s simply not possible to come away without promising yourself you will return.

Excellent service, great bar drinks, and fine dining in a cool venue. As a bonus, a violin player added music the great experience. He is so damn talented! Wine prices are super fair with a great list. Surprised at the negative reviews. All five of us LOVED it. It goes on my short list of Sarasota Favorites!

Ridiculously pretentious. On requesting very cold, shaken martinis, they were brought Luke warm and ice had to be added as had to also be done to the ‘iced’ table water. The food was abysmal, scoring out of 6 diners, a 20/100. The waitress, was obviously brainwashed by the. Management. The fact she brought warm drinks and water, did not register in her small, tip orientated demeanor. She really believed she was worth a $120 tip from our 3 couples. Frankly, she wasn’t worth $20. Menu items which bore no resemblance to the online menu photographs were slovenly delivered, with no style whatsoever. A 1x1/12”FoieGras dish @$32+ + was totally lost amongst fake deritrage. A bison dish @$40 + + was totally inedible. Tough, Dry and Stringy ordered by 3 of our party but after pointing out nobody actually ate their dish, the owners scratched 1 of 3 from the final bill.

From the outset, owner Sharon Carole and chef Christopher Covelli knew what they were doing. In 2019, they bought and renovated a space in the historic Sarasota Times building in Sarasota, Florida, and turned it into Sage, the best new restaurant in a very savvy restaurant town. The landmark building was designed in 1925 by renowned architect Dwight James Baum, who also designed John and Mable Ringling's famous Ca d'zan mansion. The building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Located at 1216 1st Street, east of Route 41, Sage has quickly become a favorite go-to destination for locals and tourists. Open from 5 to 10 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 5 to 11 on Friday and Saturday, Covelli has developed a delicious menu that is highlighted by his signature Thai Bouillabaisse with fresh seafood, coconut curry sauce and black lotus rice. So how did my wife and I navigate his menu? For a first course, we chose bowls of lobster and English pea soup with basil and asparagus and Poblano corn chowder with cotija fritter. Also a roasted red pepper and garlic Caesar salad with prosciutto, parmigiano and tomato chips. For her entree, my wife couldn't resist the house's signature Thai Bouillabaisse, which she vowed is as good as advertised. I couldn't resist one of my favorite dishes, Branzino en Croute, with roasted zucchini, summer squash and lavender beurre blanc. If you like fish and haven't tasted Branzino, a flaky and light and tasty Mediterranean sea bass, I would heartily recommend that you order it at your next opportunity. For dessert, we shared banana pudding with caramelized bananas, dulce de leche, vanilla ganache, candied hazelnuts and vanilla streusel and Blueberry Pavlova with lemon cinnamon meringue, blueberry compote, lemon gelee and coconut whipped cream. Another great addition to a great restaurant town.

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary there and it was the most wonderful anniversary meal of all of them. The food is fabulous. I had the cucumber soup as a starter and Coq au Vin and a special French strawberry shortcake that was beyond words. Tim, our waiter has perfected the art of service. I only wish I could give it a perfect 10 rating. Chef Covelli is an Amazing chef with the most creative menu in Sarasota. We will be back and more often. Thank you for making our special day so memorable. ❤️
