We chose the restaurant based on friend’s recommendation and we were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent! Special shout out to Nico for his attention to detail and great recommendations for meal and wine selection.

We have eaten here many times. The food is always spot on with homemade pasta and bread. The lamb chops are fantastic. Most dishes are large enough to split and they will do that before they bring them out to you. We had an extra special experience as our waiter, Robbie, found out my birthday was near and brought a special dessert and hand written card. The ambiance is very cozy in the wine room but on sunny days we like to sit on the enclosed part that we refer to as the porch. I am particular about ambiance and find Gabbianos the best of all the Italian places. The only negative - which happens nearly every time we go- is the visit to the hostess stand. The gals are very unorganized and being seated is a production. The bathrooms also need updated decor. Neither of these are much of a problem but changes would make the experience even better.

My wife and I decided to help support local restaurants who are offering take out service. Last night we chose Cafe Gabbiano because they are close by and we have enjoyed many dinners in their beautiful restaurant in Siesta Key Village. I have to admit I expected the food to be good but not as good as eating at the restaurant. I thought it would be in flimsy containers and would need to be warmed up before eating. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I ordered the Pollo Mama Lucia and my wife had her favorite, Lobster Ravioli. Both entrees came in sturdy containers and were hot and fresh. No need to warm them up. I decided to eat my dinner out of the container because the presentation was so nice and I did not want to screw it up by putting it on a plate. My dinner came with rice and vegetables, which I did not expect but were a wonderful addition to my meal. They also included fresh and hot bread and butter for our dinners. The helping sizes of both entrees were very generous. Needless to say, we were very impressed with this take out experience and highly recommend Cafe Gabbiano for those searching for hot and delicious Italian take out. We will definitely order it again.

Because of the good reviews of this restaurantfrom others, we decided to give it a try to celebrate two anniversaries with friends. There were 4 of us. We are locals and wanted to try this Italian establishment. Although we had reservations, we had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. That was acceptable. Our server came fairly quickly and stated she would get 4 glasses of water, they came fairly quickly. Then the rest of the service came very slowly. We sat with water only for at least 20 minutes. The server came for our drink order. This took another 15 minutes. We were given thier bread and olive oil dip and butter. My 3 olive, Bombay Sapphire gin martinini arrived made with two olives and the martinini glass filled with some sort of fruit liquor, which tasted like raspberry? Table mate's drinks were as ordered- one had wine. I had to wait for another 5 minutes for the correct martini which was received. We then ordered our entrees. a guest from another table approached us and she noticed how long it was taking for everything and we had no food. We had to agree with her. We finally received our entrees and we all had the same reaction upon tasting our meals. Their sauce is not good. It was so acidic and tart. We all ate about half of our meals and had the rest boxed. This restaurant is certainly not an inexpensive establishment, and we had high hopes for an extraordinary experience, but just got very mediocre food and service. Sorry, but none of us will return. I really wanted to give this restaurant 2* but I gave it an average.

Thank you to Cafe Gabbiano and the entire team for respecting social distancing and staff wearing masks during this unprecedented times. We had a reservation last Saturday and it was our first time dining out during the pandemic. Other restaurants in Siesta Key seemed very packed and we got nervous. However, at Cafe Gabbiano we got a table inside the wine cellar where only two tables were set up apart from each other, after a while we have been the only guests in there. Friendly staff was wearing a mask at all times and respected a safe distance to us still very friendly and attentive. We highly appreciated the service. Food was amazing, cooked to perfection and nicely prepared. We will definitely be back and wanted to express our gratitude during this difficult time!

Recent visit for four people was a disaster. We are Siesta residents and live around the corner from them so we frequently take guests. Our most recent experience was a staff that could not speak English well enough to bring a glass of ice. Lighting so poor it had to be adjusted to before we could see the menu and order. Specialty pasta that was overcooked and average in taste. Once we received our bill we completed it and left in five minutes or so from gathering the cards and receipts. Before we got up the primary server rushed in and grabbed the completed charge slips and mumbled how backed up they were and people waiting everywhere. I certainly won't let the door hit me in the backside next time because there won't be one. I'm not a great fan of Flavio's in the Village either but at least there the food quality is close, the prices better.

First of all we ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter brought the wine already opened, I asked him, " Why is the bottle opened and before he could say anything another guy came and asked " if we wanted our wine in a decanter?" As, he is sitting the full decanter on the table. The waiter had opened the bottle at the bar and the cork shredded into the wine and they had to strain the wine from the bottle to get the pieces of cork out. We should have sent it back. A bottle of wine should not be opened at the bar, but at your table. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiana, which had some type of hot spice on it, which was not in the description on the menu. We asked the waiter, "Why is this so spicy? His reply, " No, one has every complained of it before." and walked away. There were four of us at our table and we all thought it was very spicy. I had the Lobster Ravioli, very disappointing for $26.00! I had 5 not very big ravioli's and I bet only one had a piece of lobster the size of an M&M. The sauce was good though. This restaurant is over priced for the portions. Lasagna is $29.00 and very basic. I would recommend saving your money and go somewhere else. For those who are Covid conscious, the tables are close together, and not really any social distancing going on.

If you are planning a large party or just an intimate dinner for 2 Cafe' Gabbiano is Siesta Key's BEST choice! I have been there for several meals and never disappointed. We needed a place for my mother's 90th and after checking several places, my sister Jill and I decided Cafe Gabbiano was the place. WE WERE AMAZED at the level of care they took to make every part of this party special. From extra flowers on the table and balloons that we never expected to every meal being excellent... We could not have been happier! And also surprising was how comfortable the bill was for 18 people! I want to thank everyone there for all they did to make my mother's 90th birthday so perfect. (They even sent her a card!) WOW!!!! Sincerely, The Bonaro Family

We only come to Siesta yearly but this is one of regulars. We did it a little differently this time as we let our server, Ricco, select our wine and dishes. We were not disappointed. Lobster and osso bucci ravioli were both delicious. Veal/eggplant dish and mixed seafood dish also ver, very good. Finished with two desserts, one lemon, one chocolate that topped off the meal perfectly. Ricco's wine selection was a perfect pairing. We will be back!

This restaurant continues to provide excellent food and service, even through the pandemic. the fried calamari was fresh and breaded to perfection. The veal parmigiana, on the bone, was superb. If you're in the area looking for a great Italian restaurant, this is it.

To be honest I don’t even know where to start but what an amazing and pleasant experience. My friends and I decided to go on vacation to Sarasota / Siesta key and our first dinner experience was “ CAFE GABBIANO” Wow ! From the moment we walked in with no reservation the hostess was very nice, helpful and charming. We really wanted great food and experience and as we saw on the internet they had great reviews. The manager Chris I think was his name, helped us to get a table in a full house on a Friday night. Ambience was very cool as well the place looked elegant and cozy. Our server Tommy came and rapidly started getting us set and welcomed as we looked at the menu. Tommy had excellent food knowledge from the way he described all the ingredients and textures of what their food specials were. We had very tasteful clams and a bruschetta to start with. Dinner was phenomenal chef specials were our best choices, the Grouper, the veal, seafood pasta and my Pollo mama Lucia. Honestly there is no words to describe what great flavors, plating and timing. Since we were having such a great family and friends time we asked for a nice Bell gloss bottle and as well we were so undecided because their wine menu was very top notch, as well great prices. Definitely highly recommend this place if you want to have a quality dinner and affordable for such a great experience. And leaving last but not least the tiramisu for dessert was just the cherry on top. Definitely coming back when I’m around !

Staffing is in place but in great need of training and experience. Facility, ambiance and menu all pluses. Delivery of food in a timely fashion and at proper temperature needs much attention and oversight. The order goes in correctly by the way and comes out correctly but our appetizers were really late and 3 or so minutes later our entrees arrived lukewarm. This is of course not the way one would like his dinner to served. Yes we complained and Gabbiano responded positively with no charge for the appetizers on our bill. The problems we experienced are all solvable with capable hands on management. For the moment however you may be well advised to wait until they get back into their prepandemic groove. I would like to add that our waitress Sireana was a delight and Perro (Peter ) our bus boy was a great addition to the staff.

We left the area and then moved back two years ago so it had been awhile since our last visit to Cafe Gabbiano. We were looking forward to returning to a place that was once a favorite spot. Sadly, the place hasn’t aged well. Although the food was still good, the restaurant itself looked neglected and in need of a good scouring. We saw dirt on the ceiling sound panels, styrofoam and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling rafters, dead plants, food on the sheer hanging curtains (which were held back by nails) and dirty, spotted plastic dividers. It’s time to call in a window treatment company. The plastic window coverings are scratched and dirty and don’t appear to work very well. During our visit, a staff person struggled to open one of the coverings several times, finally gave up and stuck a plant from outside under the covering to keep it slightly open. Someone tell the owners there’s a new thing now: it’s called motorized window treatments. A note about the music: trying to talk over “Build Me Up Buttercup” or “New York New York” is blaring overhead is really aggravating. Soft background music would be much more appropriate and appreciated, thank you very much. You can easily expect to spend over a C Note here for dinner. Add wine at $15-30 a glass or more and you’re up there on the tab. It’s not, therefore, unreasonable to demand cleanliness and attention to detail particularly in a post CoVid environment.

All personnel appropriately wearing masks. Had really good fried calamari for sharing. Husband had fried veal chop—was great& large portion. I had the fish of the day which was grouper with a vegetable loaded sauce. Their happy hour special was the best we have had anywhere—house wine for $5 & it was a good wine with generous pour. Would definitely go back when in Sarasota.

We made reservations for a group of 10 at the last minute and the staff at Cafe Gabbiano were accommodating from the start. We were a bachelorette party and they did everything possible for our bride to feel special and included the whole group without taking anything away from our bride. The food was absolutely amazing and our server Robbie was awesome. Robbie was so in tune with our group he knew exactly what to recommend to each of us. His knowledge of the menu plus his absolute stellar personality and accommodating manner set the tone for us to have a great night out.we were a group of 10 women and every single one of us liked our meal. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. If ever in Siesta Key this place is a MUST!
