Quintessential coastal charm with awesome fresh fish fare. The beer was cold, staff friendly, view perfection and the food was just good down home cooking

I think my favorite restaurant experience during our recent Florida vacation was the New Pass Grill & Bait Shop. My family and I stopped in for lunch after a visit to the nearby Mote Aquarium. This is a great spot for outdoor dining, with a...desk and beach overlooking Sarasota Bay. Orders are placed at the counter and your name is announced over the speaker when your order is ready for pickup. My wife ordered the New Pass Stuffed Tomato with chicken salad ($9.99). Choice of homemade chicken or tuna salad stuffed in a fresh ripe tomato served on a bed of lettuce, onions, pickles, and greek peppers. Once you start slicing this up, it is essentially a salad topped with chicken salad. The chicken salad was tasty and no dressing was required for the salad. I ordered the chicken salad sub ($8.99) and onion rings ($4.99). As you can see in my photos, the servings are plentiful! The sub was really good, and again a quality traditional chicken salad with celery and mayo. Our kids enjoyed the grilled cheese with fries ($6.99). The food at New Pass Grill & Bait Shop is simple, but serving sizes are large, and the view is spectacular. Worth a visit!More

We stopped on Saturday 2/20/21 at noon, sunny and 70 degrees. Parking was pretty full but we still found a spot. 16 bar stools outside overlook their dock and the pass along with four picnic tables. No indoor seating to speak of. It's a walk...up and order your food kind of place then sit where you want. We ordered the two lobster roll basket which comes with an ample supply of battered fries for 26.95 which fed both the wife and I. $4 for 16 ounce domestic beers. I'm sure the lobster meat is shipped in as there are no tanks but the quality and quantity was top notch. I think it's the best deal on the island from St Armand's Key up to Ana Maria.More

This place is exactly what you need when you are out on the water. A place to grab some fresh bait and to get a bite to eat. My husband is much more familiar with the shop than I am, but this was my second...visit on a recent trip. We actually just drove out for breakfast, I wanted their BLT. We both had great sandwiches for breakfast - made quickly and with friendly service. Spaced picnic tables outside and servers were wearing masks. Thanks, we will be back!More

Great location, we sat outside in the warm sun, really enjoyed our food. I had the Grouper sandwich, the fries were the BEST I had in a long time. Guess it was the seasoning they put on. Liked everything bout this rest. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We...will be back!!!!!!!More

Can’t miss this. We came back here again for breakfast, they make probably the best breakfast sandwiches you have ever seen in your life. We really need two hands to handle a breakfast sandwich. Everything is very fresh and made to order. Social distancing is...practiced, and all the dining is outdoors, overlooking the water and the seagulls and the boats coming in and the kayaks and paddleboard ‘s. You can’t beat the food and you can’t beat the view. We can’t wait to come back and try and lunch, Has to be on another day because you can’t eat lunch after breakfast here.More

Had lunch here on Sunday afternoon for the first time. We arrived by boat and found the docking to be very convenient (close to the gulf). The bait shop was well stocked and had plenty of options for anyone heading out for some fishing. With...regards to food, the burger and the fish and chips are both great options. Sit on the dock and watch the great view. Service was friendly and fast. You can also call ahead and place an order if you want. Great spot!More

Just like Dad used to make. One of the best bacon, egg, and cheese on rye I have had in a while. It's a dive but has all the flare of old coastal Florida. Watch the boat and birds from the deck as you overlook...the bridge. Great for a quick bite to eat... and it's a bait shop as well.More

This is a great little sandwich shop in the upscale neighborhood of Lido Key. It's small and parking is at a real premium during the lunch hour. If you decide to go, get there really early or you will have lots of trouble finding a...parking place and possibly a table as well. The food is good and the views are great. New Pass has a simple menu and outdoor seating for the most part. You can get beer there as well. Lots of local workmen frequent the place at lunch as well. It really was an old bait shop and it looks that way so it's casual. Don't expect anything fancy even thought it's on the edge of St. Armand's. It looks like a fish camp. The outdoor picnic tables don't get cleaned often so you have to be willing to put up with that. There are no wait staff so you order at a window and pick up your order yourself when they call your name. It was a warm, sunny day in January when we visited so it was really pleasant, but you might want to find something a bit larger than New Pass on a rainy day.More

I found this place on TripAdvisor and so glad I did. It's a very casual place with window to order your food, and outdoor counters and picnic tables overlooking the water. I ordered the blackened grouper sandwich ($17.99) which was delicious and very fresh. perhaps...a little heavy on the seasoning. The piece of fish could have been a little bit larger for the money. I suspect you pay for the location. The fries were delicious. Service was quick. Highly recommend.More
