Had a reservation, did not have to wait. Our beginners Edamame -yum! Ordered the steamed buns as well, I did not try but our table enjoyed them. Also had the Korean short ribs, an awesome start. We then ordered several rolls of sushi, and tuna and yellow tail Sashimi. Everything was wonderful. When we arrived to our table no menus had to use a phone app in which mine was not working others were I requested a menu and was offered one. Note the do not have a full bar only offered wine, beer and Sake. We were not aware of this had we known would have gone to the other restaurant at UTC instead. Thus us their first location.

Probably a good idea to call first an see if they have Sea Urchin (Uni). Every time I sit down and ask for it, it's never in stock. It's been listed on their menu for years at "Market Price", but they never seem to have it. I'm willing to pay for it, but I guess that doesn't matter. I'm going to stop patronizing them...What a disappointment.

This was a find near our hotel. We were seated at a long, narrow table in the bar area. It was an active place, and loud, so hard to hear each other. We ordered dumplings and edamame for appetizer and then ordered more dumplings! We enjoyed all our sushi-so many creative rolls! Our service was nice, but very slow due to change in staff. It was ok, good family time!

This was my 2nd visit & my last. I went to try their lunch menu. I ordered JPan Beef box & was VERY disappointed! The salad had only white lettuce stalk parts.....not a green leaf in sight. The shrimp dumplings were raw dough around a 'mystery' filling. Ew! The spring rolls were saturated in oil....no crispy anywhere. The beef had a funny sawdust texture & cold. A good note: the white rice & veggie roll pieces were good. All this for $13.00???? Nope, you won't stick me again.

Have been going to Jpan for many years. Used to be amazing. Then, ownership changed, portions became smaller, flavor diminished, even before Covid. Went tonight again, ordered the same thing I usually do, and I couldn't even recognize what it was. No flavor and pretty much grocery store sushi. So sad.. But I guess it's time to find a new place..

Really pleasantly surprised by this restaurant - it’s in the back of a outdoor mall area so you wouldn’t know it was there unless you’re a local. Easy parking, they take reservations and have a full bar. The ambiance is nice and they even have some outdoor seating. Food was GREAT! Three of us with a couple of beers and tip came to $151 so not cheap.

Love getting takeout from Jpan- only reason they lost a star is due to the fact that you cannot modify the rolls in the online ordering system they provide - and also the to go packages used to be the best and now they have gone to cardboard - the food is always so great and fresh! I just wish we could order to go delivery direct from their website instead of through the third party app to get everything right. Love the volcano roll and all the low carb rolls wrapped in cucumber - so fresh and delicious

I went with my daughter for lunch on vacation. My noir was so tough I couldn't chew it. It is obvious the chef does not know how to cut sushi. Every piece was so tough. Don't waste your money.

This place has become my new favorite lunch spot! Their sushi rolls are amazing and always fresh- the volcano roll is my favorite. Seaweed salad and miso soup are delicious! Service is always great and atmosphere is cute inside.

The meals were okay, but not great. Most people seemed to order the rolls. Nice crowd. Good location near Siesta Key.

We enjoyed the sushi and appreciated the service. It’s a nice place and I would return. The manager stepped and waited our table due to be short staffed. He was very nice.

We've been here for several anniversaries prior to now... This is one of the best in Sarasota!! My husband's favorite was the Golden Bacon Lobster Roll, a must try!

My third time there. The Miso soup is excellent and Sushi is good. Any experience with ordering entrees was poor (all around the table). The portions are small, overpriced and very underwhelming. I've had a couple of beef dishes and the chicken teriyaki. I walked out feeling annoyed at spending over $30.00 (one person) and I could have had a better meal elsewhere.

Gave this a second try based on many reviews that were at odds with my initial skepticism. Even on a summer Tuesday evening it was full with a pleasing hum of energy. But the hard surfaces with no sound softening design generates a din that makes you struggle painfully to hear your guests across the table. The chairs too are stylish and contempo but are stiff and painfully uncompromising.
Tempura vegs were greasy and the only taste was from broccoli; the remainder were featureless and flavorless. Teriyaki tofu was also oddly tasteless except for the broccoli; I don't like too much spice myself but I put wasabi on it to get some depth. Sushi was attractively presented but unremarkable with rolls that were quite ordinary; Ichiban a few miles away has better quality and variety. Kim Crawford sauvignon blanc was significantly overpriced at $40; it was advertised in today's paper for $12 retail. With 1/2 bottle wine, tax and tip, $77 for two was more than this was worth. Service was friendly and prompt, but there's a strange tipping gadget that asks for an electronic tip without showing the bill.

We were shopping in the area and hungry for lunch. We both love sushi so we decided to try Jpan. The service, sushi roll options, quality, taste and price all met our expectations. We definitely look forward to returning and trying some of the other delicious sounding menu items.
