Not what it used to be

Before JPan moved near the mall it was in downtown Lakewood Ranch-it was cozy, dim mood lighting, nice background music, and excellent service and food. Now the environment is totally less appealing. Loud music, mostly high-top tables, more of a club atmosphere and it took a long time to get our food. Green tea was served in a cup with a teabag in it-a small pot on the table would have been nice. No reason to go back.

Went for lunch. My wife’s combo lunch of chicken teriyaki, etc., was plentiful and very reasonably priced, but mediocre. There was enough food for sharing between the two of us,. The chicken, California roll, and pot stickers were OK, but the fried rice and spring rolls were barely edible. My eel sushi was not very good. Our server was friendly and efficient. We will NOT be going back.

Poorly behaved kids ruined an otherwise fine meal

Our server was excellent, sorry we didn’t get her name, but she’s from Thailand. Friendly, prompt and helpful. Seaweed salad was good, veggie egg rolls were just ok. Our sushi rolls were pretty good and they had a sale on some saki which was delicious. The only issue was three separate tables had screaming kids in the 1-3 year old range. I am a parent myself and was shocked at how these parents let their mis-behaved children ruin a fairly expensive dinner for the whole place. Ok, you don’t want to teach your children manners? Take them to a place for kids. Please.

Low food quality and flavour, very disappointing.

We ordered one chicken teriyaki one salmon teriyaki. The salad and miso soup included with the meals arrived within 2 minutes, and the main meals arrived 5 minutes later. Both the chicken and salmon were totally over-cooked, dried out, and flavourless, as were the accompanying vegetables, and we couldn’t eat more than one-third of each. Both meals bordered on being inedible, not at all what is expected of meals costing $17 and $22 respectively. After we complained the restaurant voluntarily reduced the charge by 38%. Overall it was extremely an disappointing meal and we won’t be returning.

Absolutely a Horrible Experience

Absolutely the worst Sushi I have ever had in my life. Mushy and totally lacked flavor. Service was equally as pathetic. We ordered our appetizer and sushi rolls. The rolls came 45 minutes later and the appetizer came 15 minutes after we finished our sushi rolls. Poor quality service and product. Waste of money and would not recommend to anyone.

My friend and I were seated at a table but no one came to take our order. I saw 2 other couples seated after us and the waitress came and took their order but ignored us. I asked a waiter if he could get someone to take our order but no one every came. We sat there 30 minutes and finally walked out. They did not appear to be short-staffed since I saw several waiters and waitresses waiting on tables.

The website is extremely misleading.

The website is extremely misleading. My girlfriend and I were looking forward to an evening of Happy Hour, as per the website advertises to get people through the door, and we were immediately disappointed when the bartender told us they are not honoring Happy Hour due to the simple fact they are losing money on it.. Our bill was 3x as what it should have cost us. Very letdown by management. Bartender seemed like he was in a rush when there was only 1 other couple in the dining area.

Outdoor for holiday lights

We left a neighboring restaurant as their happy hour was only inside (understandable but not advertised). Even with the busy holiday lights season we were seating outside and enjoyed great service from Young. I thought we’d be rushed to turn the table but were not. Enjoyed seaweed salad, specialty rolls, and other sushi.

Very good lunchtime specials

We tried Jpan for the first time by checking out their lunch specials. Service was good, and food was delightfully fresh and flavorful. My wife tried their Shrimp tempura rolls, and she thought they were great. I went with their chicken teriyakiBento Box was both very good and a ton of food.

Pricy but worthy

We had Party of 7, seated quickly and server asked and brought waters, why we reviewed drink menu. Great selection, server answered all our stupid questions, which they are probably used to. Godzilla rolls were great along with all Tuna rolls. Shrimp and Chicken Tempura was great. Atmosphere is modern , clean and well lit. Not too noisy, able to have conversations , amongst us. Server refreshed our sodas and asked if we needed re-fills. Did not get pressured to finish. Cleaned up used plates as we completed eating. Will be back!

Great food and service was fine

Excellent Ramen bowl and Sushi selection was great. All the food was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Service was fine, but had some issues with the payment system. Checking my bank statement, I have 3 charges for my meal, but 2 of those were credited. Hopefully it will clear itself up on the next business day.

Worst service!

Yesterday was my first and last time at JPAN. Myself and 3 others went for sushi and sake. After being seated we ordered drinks and lots of food. Before we even finished half the sake our server told us we had to leave. She said we could not be served food because we had drank at another establishment before coming in. How is it they would serve us alcohol but not food. If anything they should have served us food but no alcohol. We weren’t allowed to place a Togo order either. Safe to say that was the worst service I’ve ever had and will not recommend this place to anyone.

For a place in UTC, I expected more. Mediocre supermarket-quality sushi, empty restaurant, poor vibe, etc. This place is on the way out.

Terrible Service, over $4.00 to add cream cheese to one roll, charged their own tip

The waiter was terrible, didn't seem to speak any english. I asked direct questions about my rolls which he said "yes" to but that turned out to be the wrong answer to all 3 questions. I brought it to his attention... "Yes" again. I gave up. THEN we get the bill.... $4.00 extra charge he added to add cream cheese to one small roll. Never asked me... just charged $4.00. Then I paid the bill with my CC and gave him a $20.00. I asked for change.... 5 ones, one 5 and a ten. Well he brings me $15.00. I asked where the other $5 was and he said "tip". I was going to give him more but whatever!
