As a London-born-and-bred transplant to the United States, I admit I was somewhat sceptical about Shakespeare's claim to British authenticity. The "English Style Poutine" at the top of the menu did not reassure: I assume the Québécois, for whom poutine is a national dish, will...agree this is a definite oxymoron. As it turned out, however, our visit on a hot day in June (June 7, 2023, to be precise) was thoroughly enjoyable. We had the fish & chips and bangers & mash. The former was delicious and the latter just as tasty, even if the bangers didn't quite bang in the old-country manner. But then, real Cumberland sausages reside exclusively across the pond. Great beer on tap, recommended by our server, who was excellent throughout. The place, though well-populated, was quiet and conducive to conversation. Will definitely visit again!More
