About
Chanticleer Eatery is off the beaten path, but well worth the few extra minutes to find! We really put our heart into all that we do at Chanticleer. We make all that we can from scratch and that doesn't mean heat and serve! We bake all of our bread, slow smoke our pulled pork, serve the best prime grade steaks, make our soups with lots of love and of course make our to die for cookies from scratch! We are really passionate about awesome eats, and get so disappointed when we eat food that isn't thoughtful. We hope you can taste the difference at Chanticleer and look forward to serving you, "food worth crowing about"!

We went here for an evening meal. I got the burger and wish I had taken a picture. With the homemade bun and all the goodies on it, it was literally too big to eat. This little place is tucked away so make sure you get good directions. If you want a loaf of their homemade bread, you must call ahead to ensure they will have it available. The grits were good, but rich. Consider splitting an entree. The atmosphere is not fancy. No need to dress up.

We had the Chicken and Rice (shared) and they roasted veggies with feta cheese and cheddar cheese grits. All of the food is locally sourced and freshly prepared. Our server, Jeremy, made our choice easy. Don’t miss the white chocolate coconut cookies!

This Resturant uses the very freshest ingredients. Their salad, burgers and entrees are delicious. I just wish we lived closer. We are in this area approximately 6 times a year and we always make a point to have dinner at this excellent restaurant. Their key lime pie is the very best on 30 A

Went with family for dinner on Thursday, Oct 8, arrived at 5 pm at the dinner opening time and were the second group to be seated outside. Their website has a special section detailing the preventative measures they take to prevent COVID-19, surprisingly masks don’t seem to be part of that for employees at Chanticleer. All 4 adults ordered a different entree, took an extremely long time for food to arrive and none of the entrees were more than just ok. The service and food were much better at Tommy Bahamas, Pompano Joe’s, Great Southern Cafe and Grayton Seafood Company.

While we were in Grayton beach for two months this fall, we dined at Chanticleer weekly. Their food and service were fantastic. My husband is certain that their smoked Reuben is the best he has ever had while I loved all of their soups. Tomato Basil is on the menu daily and a rotating selection of great soups included chili, broccoli cheddar and AMAZING chicken and rice. Salads were always very fresh and interesting and the homemade breads are the bomb! Randie that works the bar during the day is one of the most delightful lady and you can see her smile through her mask. She made every visit extra special just through her sweet persona. You can tell she loves her job! We have moved further south for the winter and miss our wonderful Chanticleer for lunch. Unfortunately, we did not dine with them for dinner but I bet it is amazing.

We are part-time locals that have been frequenting Chanticleer for years. It’s been one of our favorite spots for everything from fresh salads to entrees to our very favorite Key Lime Pie. Some of our favorite entrées included the Burgers, pulled pork plate, crabcakes, and the chicken and rice. We recently learned that the restaurant was sold. We stopped in to get the scoop and learned that the new owners were keeping the same menu Focused on fresh ingredients. During our dinner on 3/8, Donnie was our server and he was excellent. Sadly, The menu was lacking the pulled pork plate and the chicken and rice and only included one burger. The new owners added several seafood items so we decided to give one a go and ordered the mahi-mahi with shrimp and the new chicken entrée. Our meals took a very long time to arrive and Donnie was very apologetic. Our meals were worth the wait and excellent but they just didn’t feel like Chanticleer food. It felt a bit more like fine dining with the presentation and side dishes. Part of the charm and allure of the old Chanticleer was the non fussy and fresh menu. Our biggest disappointment was that they did not have any Key Lime Pie or carrot cake. The new owner did stop by and was receptive to feedback and suggested that they will be bringing back a couple of the old entrées to the dinner menu. We will definitely go back and hope to see some of our old favorites on the menu.

Our favorite lunch spot did not disappoint our latest family member! Most customers were wearing masks, but employees did not. We ordered the tomato and bean soups along with the special grilled cheese, grilled chicken and turkey bacon avocado sandwiches. All are excellent and very large portions. Until next time..

We had a delicious lunch at Chanticleer Eatery today. I had delicious shrimp and grits. The shrimp were plentiful and perfectly cooked. It also had smoked sausage with peppers and onions and just the right spice. My husband had the classic grilled cheese which he liked. We shared the mile high key lime pie which was a great ending. Servers were not wearing masks but were very careful about standing away from the table as they took our order. The tables were separated.

I have enjoyed meals, lunch at Chanticleer since they first opened. I was disappointed that they took away the local discount and I’m sure I’m not the only one. My business lunch today was both good and needs some improvement closer to days gone by. My favorite on the menu I stopped eating because it changed so much, today I did have an excellent hamburger. If this review was just based on the hamburger it would be a top review. The ketchup bottle had too much water, and when you serve a hamburger usually you check and see what condiments your client wants. There was a food runner who did not get our waitress back to us. The hostess at the front was very helpful and very sweet and apologized, I could not even get a second glass of water for a long time. I finally received some mustard and mayonnaise and a much better bottle of ketchup. An $18 hamburger you should not have to get mustard and mayonnaise out of packets this is not A fast food place. This is my second visit recently with Service is almost nonexistent, I did not penalize my waitress I tipped her well I suggest ordering your hamburger and taking it back to your office and having all of your own condiments There’s a new place across the street which has much better service and the food is really good it will be my new place to eat in that area thank you for all the good meals in the past Chanticleer

We were travelling on Fl 98 from Alabama down to Panama City Beach on our way to Innisbrook in Florida. Didn't want o go to the chain restaurants for lunch and took at exit that looked like there was civilization down the road. We found Chanitclee, asked a departing local diner if the food was good. He responded that we were in for a treat and to ensure for desert you had their homemade cookies. They're very conscious of large servings so on the menu they had a shared reuben sandwich with two extras and charged an extra $4 for sharing. It was fantastic and we took the homemade cookies with us in the car. Best accidental lunch we have ever had. Great service; friendly atmosphere. Not to missed. I seem to recall the exit was to Grayton Beach but it might have been Santa Rosa.

Have loved this place for years - always a “must stop” when we are in town. This was our first visit since the new owners and it was a disappointment. Food took too long (45 min), the delicious broccoli cheddar soup was water thin and had to be exchanged, the chicken bruschetta flatbread has been replaced with very dry chicken bruschetta sandwiches, and the “marinated” steak sandwich was flavorless. We want the old Chanticleer back! We may not visit this one again.

One of our favorite places from last year - still in our top 5! Jambalaya is really good, lots of shrimp and chicken, Prices have gone up sadly, $25 for that dish. My burger and fries were disappointing, the burger was requested medium rare on rare side, came well done, and fries were very crispy not as good as last year. Still keeping it on our list but for $70. for lunch ( one beer and tea) will not be frequent visitors.

We came here on a February weeknight for dinner and were seated right away. (Chanticleer does not take reservations.) We enjoyed a wonderful dinner. I had the pulled pork plate, which was delicious. Good pulled pork, nice sauce, generous serving of cole slaw, which was great. My wife had the pork chop and enjoyed it, but it could have been a bit more flavorful. We plan on going again soon. She wants to try the pulled pork, and I am eager to try the jambalaya. Service was prompt and attentive.

I hate to praise this place but they keep exceeding expectations. This year by Hubby has only ordered thee Jambalaya. He says it's the best ever and they are not stingy with the shrimp, either - at least 9 each time! This year I have had the Reuben twice ( always bring 1/2 home it's huge!) the steak sandwich, the Chanticleer grilled cheese ( 1/2 sandwich) with their homemade tomato soup, and the cobb salad. We get a chocolate chip cookie for dessert ( $1.75) and once the bread pudding. If I could rate the food a 6 II would = it's all fabulous.

I enjoyed the lunch salad. It was really filling and fresh. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. I really wanted to try the burger, but they will not do dinner at lunch or vice versa. They have several spots on the menu where they explain that you should order the food the way it comes. They’ve already determined that you’ll like it, so don’t mess it up. Quite funny and a little pretentious, but it was good.
