After fishing with Native Guides in Captiva, we took our catch to The Lazy Flamingo to have it prepared. The fish was cooked to perfection, and we all received a side for under $50. A perfect end to a perfect day!

Overall, it wasn’t horrible—it just wasn’t great. We were seated quickly since we said we were fine with the patio. It was a little warm but with shade down and the fan blowing it was bearable. It was rather cramped outside though as the area...is not large. In today’s environment I am surprised they filled every table on the patio. We did have a large group seated behind us and with angle of the table it felt like the guy at the end was on top of me. They are extremely short of help as I only counted four servers plus the hostess. Our server was a very rare sight indeed. The food wasn’t bad. My wife enjoyed the shrimp tacos. I had the burger which was good but nothing to write home about. We would have enjoyed the experience more if we had been inside and not on the cramped patio.More

Always our first island stop for the last 10 years on the island and our last meal before leaving. If you aren’t getting the conch chowder, raw oysters, fried oysters, and the garlic bread with marinara.... go back and get it. The Caesar salad is...also a good light days choice. Sangria was also good. This restaurant pleases every one in our big family (5 kids ranging in age from 19 to 3). Nobody leaves picking over their good. Kids get frisbees and take home cups that we use at home :) customer service is good. Best to get there before 5:00 to avoid waits.More

We wanted seafood on our trip to Sanibel/Captiva. Read the reviews thought we’d try it. Definitely a cool bar vibe. You had to take menus from the bar and seat yourself. When ready to order you had to walk to the bar and order and...take your drinks iced tea back to the table. When food was ready had to retrieve it from the bar. I have not experienced service like this with the extensive menu that that have. Yes in a bar with bar food but even then the bartender brought our food and drinks. Was never asked how our food was. Had to go to bar and get bill. There was also a sign that said something like tip appreciated. I would not consider that we were waited on. The place only had 3 couples at tables and one guy at the bar so not too busy. Was expecting more when reviewing the menu online. We had mesquite grouper platter which was flavorful. The blackened shrimp Caesar salad mediocre. Would not go back.More

We stopped for lunch and ordered the grouper fish tacos with mango salsa. Two were served per plate and were very large and tasty.

Once again a great vacation on Sanibel and once again we ate every day at the Lazy Flamingo. From Conch to oysters, soups and salads, can't be beat. They also have a great selection of beers and wine. If you want laid back atmosphere and...an easy lazy way to eat, welcome home.More

My husband and I ate at the Lazy Flamingo every year in the early 2000’s to 2012! One of our favs every time so when we made it back this April we went there the second day of our trip and we’re so disappointed! My...husbands sisters were with us and two of them ordered fried shrimp, I had grilled mesquite grouper and my husband blackened grouper! Mine came and no seasoning not even salt, the fried shrimp looked liked shrimp sticks and they were not impressed and my husbands blackened grouper had nothing on it as well! We paid 50.00 and if it wasn’t for how wonderful the staff was they would have gotten no stars! Too bad they use to be the best! Won’t be back again!More

I’m not sure what changed but I’ve returned to Lazy Flamingo several times in the past few years and have been disappointed with with fried grouper. We’ve been eating at the Periwinkle Way location since it opened a couple decades ago, all the years my...kids were growing up. The fried grouper was to die for. Crisp dark brown almost panko-like coating, with a hint of lemon. The fish inside always fresh/white & juicy/tender. The tartar sauce was absolutely delicious. Whatever/whenever it changed it has ruined the experience for me. I gave it multiple tries to make sure it was a permanent change. Sadly, it is. The grouper batter is almost rubbery, nothing special & like you’d get on fried shrimp or other seafood. Just batter. The fish itself has been hit or miss, too. Slightly fishy sometimes, fresher tasting at others. I still love the restaurant and the peel & eat shrimp is still great at its freshest. Just really miss the original quality & taste of the fried grouper we’d known for so many years.More
