This was always my go to cozy seaside eats and drinks hangout. Two years has passed since I was there and I was so disappointed in the modernization of old docs. I anticipate the amazing rum runners, not so good this time. It's just doesn't have it anymore, nothing reminiscent of the old digs.

I believe Doc Fords is relying on past reputation, or we ate there on an off day, because it's not like previous year at the previous location. Not particularly good food or service. The waiter took our order and returned with the bill. A refill of tea or water would have been nice.

Good food, and a nice atmosphere on the back patio. Lots to choose from on the menu. The restaurant was very clean and the sun shades on the back patio made for a comfortable outdoor setting.

Doc's appears to be a favorite with the locals and returning vacationers. It has the ambience of an upscale pub, and a huge selection of cocktails. It is a sandwich type restaurant and they seem to be very proud of their "famous" clam chowder--they shouldn't be. It was brown, thick, and pasty as though they had thickened it with flour... More

Capping a full day visiting the island, we stopped by Doc's at 6:00. The 70 minutes wait (in season) was worth it! Doc's moved to their current location September 2016. 2 bars with big screen TV's provide a nice way to pass the time. The upstairs bar is a bit smaller and the place locals hang out. The downstairs bar,... More

We went for dinner twice during our 1+ weeks on Sanibel Island. Both times our table shared the Yucatan Shrimp: a huge plate of shrimp in the shells and in a wonderfully addictive medium-spicy sauce. The recipe starts with 4 tablespoons of butter, so what could go wrong? Everyone loved their entree; I had the Shrimp and (jalapeño cheese) Grits.... More

My wife and I went with friends for lunch at Doc Ford's recently. We sat outside and the 80 degree weather and sunshine was quite a contrast to the 20 degrees and overcast sky back home. The location is attractive and this is a pretty new facility (or so it appears). Service was fine and the food was ok. I... More
