Our anniversary dinner was wonderful from beginning to end. An appetizer of mozzarella & tomato salad piqued our palates. We enjoyed grilled beef mignon with roquefort fonduta and the grouper special (with a scallop on top!). The sauces made both of these divine. Vegetables were...fresh and cooked perfectly. We finished with a gelato trio. Curt, our server, was attentive but not hovering. Maybe the best part of the evening was listening to Danny Sinoff on piano, with his bass playing friend. Mostly jazz, some Sinatra, all easy listening. We'd enjoyed Danny's music years ago at Ellington's and tracked him down via Trip Advisor's Forum. Visit Traditions for that special meal; you won't be disappointed. Traditions might be considered "Old Florida" style; it was outstanding in all ways.More

Recently held a dinner party for 7, celebrating my wife’s birthday on a busy Saturday night. The atmosphere was lively, not boisterous. The food was outstanding. We started with an abundant assortment of chilled on ice, Lump Crabmeat, Oysters and Shrimp, complimented with a dozen...Oyster Rockefeller. Each of my guests ordered dinner from the menu, the selections were varied, each drawing rave reviews. I left the wine selection to the owner; Andréa’s paired a wonderful selection of French white and red wines for the meal. This was a special evening, and the entire staff was remarkable. Michael our head waiter was what every diner hopes for when dining out, a server that is knowledgeable, helpful and not overbearing. The meal was brought to a remarkable conclusion by the serving of a decadent Chocolate cake and complimenting Champaign with a dazzling presentation selected by the owner. Kudos to Andréa’s and his entire staff for making this special night a special evening. I do not want to be remiss in mentioning the live entertainment that evening, a lively duo that played a good variety dinner and dance music. This is a restaurant that is not only for special occasions but a great place for couples and groups.More

I ate here two times for dinner while staying at the Island Inn, Matthews Lodge - I had duck one night and filet mignon with vegetables the other evening. Both times the waiters were great and very delicious meal! A little pricey for me, but...I wanted to treat myself. I believe that this older building is going to be torn down and new building going up next year - in case anyone read the reviews about the carpet!More

Stopped at the bar for a quick drink before dinner - rum punch was excellent. Danny our server seated us for dinner. Danny was wonderful, attentive, we felt special. Danny was extremely knowledgeable about both the dinner and drink menus. My husband had veal and...I had the filet. Both were exceptional! It was a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. If you go, please say hello to Danny for us!More

Gruesome. The food had to be microwaved. This included a dry “grilled” grouper special and a shrimp scampi where the shrimp tasted and had the consistency of frozen. The sides were nasty, including mashed potatoes with the grouper that looked like the kind of mashed...potatoes you get in a Swanson hungry man dinner. This is a restaurant in a resort, the resort is lovely, the restaurant likely relies on a steady stream of resort guests, to its and their detriment. We did get a very nice bottle of wine. Complete debacle. Avoid at all cost.More

My only complaint with this establishment is the smell. We almost had to leave as the musty smell was overwhelming. It’s the dry time of yr abs this shouldn’t be. Food was excellent and service good. We had the duck and it was amazing! They...had a piano man who kept us unite entertained. I would give you 5 stars if you find the source of that awful smell- carpet? Thanks!More

We enjoyed a nice dinner at Traditions on the Beach at a window table with a beach view. We had excellent service from Joe. My husband and I shared the spinach salad and their shrimp cocktail. I enjoyed Tradition’s black grouper special with the scallop....My husband also really liked his lobster, shrimp, mussels pasta special with choice of sauce type. While we didn’t dance, we enjoyed listening to the music and watching other diners dance. It was a lovely dinner in the Historic Island Inn.More

We’ve been to Traditions before it was OK this time was the last time. We were a party of four. everybody ordered the special. All specials are $38. There is no excuse charge top dollar and serve cold cold scallops and cold mussels that I...had a return to have them warm it up! Service was slow. Too many good restaurant choices to try again.More

Thank you, Danny, for a lovely experience at Traditions! As our server, you took care of all of our needs and gave us great menu suggestions. The duck entree was amazing and so was the “by the glass” Cabernet. Make this one of your dinner...stops during your Sanibel stay!More

We had company from up north come visit and we wanted to take them to a nice place on the beach. We chose Traditions as we had been there before and enjoyed the food and ambiance. We had made reservations over a month ahead. We...were seated promptly upon arrival. Our table was tucked off in a corner with no view of anything. I asked if we could get a better table and was told no, they were all reserved. Our server was definitely pushing us to order quickly and we kept slowing things down. We laughed at the end when he brought the check and said “no rush”. Our food was actually quite good. If the table would have been better we would have left much happier. My guess is that people staying at the resort get the view tables, but we could have avoided the horrendous Sanibel traffic and had as good a meal in Fort Myers. We probably won’t go back here with all the other choices for dining.More

The atmosphere was nice, the waiter was very good however the food was bland and overpriced for such bland food (Scallops & Salmon). The bread took a little while to arrive and then when it was gone and they said they were bringing more, it...never came. They didn’t have the wine on the menu that we ordered but did give us a different wine at a cheaper price. The bill prices on one of the items did not match with the menu had, it was two dollars more. Not very impressed with traditions restaurant.More

Mandatory gratuity of 14% on all take-out orders. I am unaware of any other restaurant doing this. Chicken Marsala was unmemorable but my husband did enjoy the Scottish Salmon.

Arrived Christmas day for a five-day stay at the Island Inn (Traditions is their on-sight dining venue). The restaurant staff was amazing from the initial seating through the end of the night which was spent at the bar. The host and hostess made us feel...like the family. The lobster bisque was amazing; unfortunately the appetizer and entrees were just above average. I had the scallops and wife had the chicken...sadly, nothing to write home about. Like I said, the staff was good to go, the food was just okay.More
