Ya Mon'! I'm going to say this with ALL DUE RESPECT....but if your Jamaican food spot isn't a small, hole-in-the-wall, great smelling, slow, with rude customer service....then you're in the wrong place for great Jamaican grub! Fortunately, Montego Bay Caribbean Takeout is ALL of those things! I've visited a couple of times and it always seems to not be very busy, smells amazing, and the food is excellent. The jerk chicken is spicy, flavorful and tender. The rice is fresh and the cabbage is very good as well. Ive even ordered hot beef patties with coco bread and my oh my is it good! I would say this has been the best Jamaican food I've had in Florida thus far (my sample areas have been Brevard and Seminole counties). I told the nice older gentleman last time "I will see you soon" and I intend to hold that promise!

Excellent Takeout Food

The food here is delicious! Worth waiting for, if you have to. My husband is Caribbean, so we're picky about this type of food. We were nor disappointed at all. I tried it after a friend recommended it. We will be back! They're friendly and personable. Great prices and large portions.

The food is very good, but we've found that even after calling ahead, and waiting the suggested 30 minutes prior to going for pick-up, we still have to wait 15 minutes or so for our order. This leads me to believe that the order isn't started until we get there. People come in and place orders at the counter and get theirs before we do. I sense that these are very frequent customers and are given preferential treatment. Other people have the same complaint, but the food is so good, and so well-portioned that we wait. This is strictly a take out place. Mom and Pop.

Finally stopped in yesterday after driving past this place thousands of times.This is basically a take-out place,There's seating for about 6 or 7 people, maybe 2 tables.The first thing that I noticed upon entering was the most incredible aroma of caribbean spices-Damn!,I'm in the right spot! You order at the counter from a somewhat limited menu which is posted on a board by the counter.Portion sizes comes in small medium and large.I ordered the large oxtail dinner.After about 10 minutes my order was ready, and I could hardly wait to get home and taste it.I was not disappointed! it was absolutely delicious! Everything.The cabbage was cooked to perfection-not to undercooked or mushy.The rice & peas,great and plentiful.Also the dinner came with a large piece of cornbread and last but not least,The oxtails.A very generous portion for $12.They were succulent,flavorful,meaty,fall off the bone tender with just the amount of fat that i love.Only complaint,not enough butter beans,I think i only counted a handful-next time I will be sure to ask for more-and oh yeah,there will be a next time!

Real Jamaican

Wow! So good! A taste of real Jamaican food in Sanford. Incredible food and wonderful service. Since the food is made the right way with love, not all dishes are available at all times--they gave us their menu with their number so next time we can call ahead to make a request or see what they have prepared that day. On our visit, we had a spicy Jamaican patty, oxtail and curry chicken served with rice and peas, plantains, and cabbage. I also got my daughter a Ting--one of my favorite Jamaican treats--and she loved it! We will definitely be back the next time we're in Sanford. Just a note--this is mostly a take-out place, as their name suggests, but there is a small countertop and table to eat-in, so you do have that option. Also, the location is easy to miss--I believe the sign above it reads "Jamaican Restaurant" and the windows say "MO-Bay Take Out" but Google Maps will get you there. It's in the same strip mall as the Winn Dixie.

We had dinner here before heading off on our anniversary trip. Do not let the appearance of the plaza or the suite fool you. I had the jerk pork dinner and it brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely well done and they even accepted restaurant.com coupons which helped me get more for money. The sorrel drink was delightful and I would keep drinking if could have more. My wife had the chicken meal and she enjoyed every bit of it as well as the drink. Looking forward to going back. They seemed so much like parents at dinner time.
