We have ordered take out 3 times now... great every time. Turmeric rice is wonderful .. highly recommmend.
Started with the fresh avocado rolls and calamari. Fresh. Perfect. Delish sauces. Finished with the crab meat loaf and fried rice. Cooked perfect. Tasted great. Highly recommend.
We decided to try La V. We were impressed how they made us feel safe. We were excited by the menu. The food was good, but not great. The big shock was when we paid with a credit card they added an additional fee. I...felt cheated and it ruined the evening for us. Just be upfront, or raise prices by a little and don;t have a hidden fee.More
We ate there twice during our visit. The food was wonderful. Tried a few different dishes and they were all excellent. Restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s got a good ambience. Prices are good. It’s actually less expensive than most restaurants...downtown. One negative is they seem to be a little short on waitstaff both times we went there.More
Fleury flies are everywhere here! In your drinks, in your food. I stopped counting at eight buzzing around. I have been to countless restaurants in Florida but this is particularly nasty. About the food: on a re-try I came back to see if the tofu...rice bowl was any better than the last time (came with a half a head of lettuce ;not kidding, and cabbage as plate filler), and little veg or tofu! This time they brought the plate with 1/2 covered in cucumber because I asked for no lettuce, cabbage as “garnish” so they used cucumber instead. I requested remove the cucumber and just give me tofu and veg. They did in fact give me tons of carrots, etc but only three pieces of tofu. When I asked about that the waitress said, the vegetables compensate for the protein. If you ordered chicken, shrimp or other protein besides tofu you would have gotten more. I just think they’re cutting corners but the fly situation is gross!More
Not too sure what all the hubba’s about. Our meal at La V was relatively decent, but to consider this restaurant among the top ten in the city of St. Petersburg is like considering our current president to be among the best in history. We...found La V on one of St. Pete’s restaurant strips, nestled between a slew of other Asian and exotic food restaurants on Central Avenue. We walked into a deafeningly loud room where servers were congregated behind the bar, tending to diners and responding to requests like my own for new seating. A young man resembling a tall Woody Allen first tried discouraging us from staying for dinner because we did not have a reservation. He said there would be a wait, but when we offered to sit outside at the empty table, he contradicted us about anything being free then reluctantly walked away with menus – presumably our own. We followed him to the table and sat in far more pleasant conditions on the sidewalk away from the interior noise. Prior to coming, we had found an online coupon for a complimentary bobo tea drink, but the website wasn't cooperate at the restaurant. Again, our waiter questioned whether that “promotion” was still active then “reneged” to adhering to its terms. Fifteen minutes later, we received our mango, raspberry, and lychee bogo teas, the latter being far superior to the rest. Unfortunately, each was loaded with sugar, and I suffered from sugar highs and lows throughout the evening. It was about 40 minutes later that we received our entrees, and while good, they were certainly not worthy of public accolades. My fusion fried rice with Vietnamese sausage, shrimp, and kimchi was an eclectic smorgasbord of textures and tastes, and the fresh mint leaves and lettuce provided a nice balance. My wife’s Hoy An Style Noodle was a little bit of the same --- interesting mixture of foods, some a bit too spicy for her, along with the throwaway hard-boiled egg half. My daughter’s chicken pho ga was alright, but the broth didn’t blow me away. Everything was “very good”, and had it not been for the service, Cherry Wonderdog would have bestowed a four-star rating to the La V establishment. However, service was atrocious, and it definitely detracted from the meal. Our waiter always seemed harried and bothered. He provided minimal service even though he eventually delivered. He was either distracted, in an unusually bad mood, or in need of training. The last straw was when my daughter asked to take-out her pho, and I interrupted his attempt to remove her bowl by requesting a taste beforehand. Rather than wait five seconds or say he would come back in a minute, he literally dropped the Tupperware on our table and stormed off. It was as if we were there to serve him rather than vice versa. A customer should never be made to feel uncomfortable, and that is exactly what he did to us. All in all, La V served good food, and I would definitely reconsider it for take-out, but neither the interior nor the service impressed me in the slightest to warrant a return visit for a night out.More
Both the meal and service were great we had the Spring Rolls and Pho and both were delicious. Our server was great! Friendly and helpful as we decided what to order.
I went there for lunch with friends and let me start by saying the food is awesome! The sandwich was great, the spring rolls were delicious, and the crab meatloaf although small very good. However, the server was very short with us and had no...interest in my questions. Before leaving we ordered some boba tea to go, one of our orders was incorrect and I literally had to hunt down the server to get it fixed because she avoided our table. Then she made up excuses about how it was really what we chose instead of her writing down the order incorrectly. I would go back again but I would just have a different server.More
Flavorful and friendly Vietnamese spot on downtown St. Pete's hopping Central Avenue. We enjoyed the grilled shrimp salad and the bun ma, a meaty broth-based dish loaded with fresh herbs and vegetables.
