Wonderful experience soaking and mingling with the locals in a relaxed atmosphere. A great value for your money, not far from other interesting tourist attractions

The food isn't good. Why do people like this place so much? Service wasn't great but that can happen anywhere. Did I mention the food isn't good? It's a shame that many of the St. Pete places in St. Pete suck. I'll keep trying.

Located in a quaint historic neighborhood, parking is limited, but you could use the walk back to the car after such an amazing breakfast! The breakfast quesadilla was a favorite of ours and the prices were fantastic for a quality meal. Can’t wait to come...again!More

Thank goodness, after recent dining disappointment, to discover that Trips is as good as ever. Warm welcome, excellent service and memorable food. Thank you Trips - a most welcome return for us after a prolonged absence due to Covid restrictions. Best eggs Benedict I've had...in years - since my last visit here.More

The more I think about Trips Diner, the more I resent my experience there. I had evaluated a few options for my party of six brunch the day before, and while Trips couldn’t make an official reservation, they did offer to take my contact information...and arrival time for outdoor seating which, the employee claimed, would give us priority and get us served more quickly. Sure enough, when we arrived, the restaurant was waiting for us, and I was told that we would be seated right after the next person. Thirty minutes later, I was told that there were “just two” more parties ahead of us, and that “it wouldn’t be much longer.” By probing, I learned that the first person had forgotten we wanted outdoor not indoor seating. After fifteen more minutes, someone came out, apologizing, and said they really didn’t know how much longer it was going to be for an outside table but that they could take us right away if we agreed to sit indoors. She had supposedly set aside a ‘secluded’ area in the corner (to belay our COVID fears, I guess) and we would be quite comfortable there. Inasmuch as our bodies were reeling from standing outside in the Florida sun (Trips could really do something to accommodate its waiting customers), we resigned to our fate, cut our losses, and agreed to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Indoors was everything I had feared. The noise was deafening. We had to yell to hear each other. And for some strange reason, there were four rather than three sets of tables joined together. I had to wonder if someone couldn’t count and/or if the attempt to find us seating for eight instead of six accounted for part of the delay. Ironically, the table settings were incomplete, and as service was inconsistent at best, we had to find our own silverware. The plastified menus were beyond disgusting, sticky, full of syrup and who knows what else. I guess it never occurred to Trips to wipe those down. Coffee was thinner than diluted mushroom broth, and there were only the impossible to open, artificially preserved, Half & Half capsules on the table for dairy supplements. The waitress did finally agree to give me milk, but she delivered just a tiny portion in a small cup (that ended up spilling) instead of in a normal pitcher. Food choices were limited. Not really a breakfast person, my daughter ordered a burger only to learn later that the kitchen had run out. Seriously? A diner without burgers is like McDonald’s without French fries. None of the meals had any hint of healthy components. The maple syrup was fake. The fruit topping for pancakes and waffles were really processed marmalade. My quesadilla was edible, but the “fresh salsa” was clearly from a jar. Sure, the pricing was low, but that comes with the territory. $2.79 for the worst coffee in the world is still $2.79 thrown out the window. Service was horrible, especially if you include the false promises about seating us quickly outside. My wife requested but never received another drink. And we all had to pay up front. Someone remind me why this place is so well-rated? Take it from Cherry Wonderdog – Trips Diner is better off for stray cats.More

We found this diner and had a nice breakfast there. The food was served hot and the portions were nice sized. Red was our waitress and she was a little frazzeled but managed to get our orders right.

What can you say when you have high expectations from a Diners breakfast and then get exactly what you want? BRAVO is the word that comes to my mind! Great food, lots of it, speedy service all done in a classic “old school” setting. BRAVO!!

Trips opened while we were away from St. Pete for several years. Upon returning home in 2013, we tried it for breakfast and was not impressed. The food was OK but we found the menu not very interesting as it did not provide much variety...in choices or anything different and unique from other breakfast places. After 9 years and seeing the place crowded whenever we would pass it, we decided to give it a second try. We were extremely pleased to see an expanded breakfast menu from our first visit and items that you normally do not see on other breakfast menus such as gouda / blue / asiago cheeses for omelets, eggs benedict made with fried green tomatoes instead of an English muffin, and wonderful obviously homemade corn bread along with standard choices of toast / biscuit. These are just a few examples of their innovativeness which has greatly enhanced the breakfast offerings. We are very glad we gave this place a second chance. We look forward to future visits and highly recommend Trip's based on today's experience.More

This was the best diner I’ve been to in years. The French toast was amazing. The sausage was peppery. The hubcake was phenomenal. The crab Benedict had perfect eggs. This place knows what it’s doing. The service was fast and so polite. I only wish...I lived closer so I could go more often!More

The few times that I have visited here (I do not live in the area) I always- ALWAYS get the white cheese grits. What can I say they are the best! Do your self a favor and order them when you come. Otherwise I love...the bacon it’s bog and fresh, and crispy if you ask them.More

We went there for breakfast with our dog so sat outside. A short wait, not bad. Food was good as was service. However, we would have MUCH preferred it if cooks and other staff wore masks during this time of pandemic. When I went inside...to the rest room was when I noticed cooks and all staff maskless.More

We stayed in St Petersburg for a week. We checked in on the reviews and this place had both great reviews and was only about one mile from our Airbnb. So, we thought we'd give it a chance. It was relatively busy, which is a...good sign. The hostess was very nice to us. She asked if we would like to sit at the bar. We agreed. The hostess introduced us to a couple of "regulars." Great people! Then the food arrived. It felt like Mom was in the back making a great meal for her kids. The portion sizes were huge. The taste was great! The price is just right. We liked it so much we just kept going back. It's a great family run restaurant. The servers love their customers and treated us like gold. I HIGHLY recommend this place. If I lived in St Petersburg or anywhere near there, I would be a "regular" myself. I might just have to return to St Petersburg just for Trip's Diner.More
