My husband and I stopped here to grab lunch before heading to the beach. We saw that they had a patio which overlooked the ocean, and luckily, we were able to grab a table up there. The view was stunning. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, and my husband had their spicy chicken tenders. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. Even though they were busy, our server was very attentive and our food came out quickly. We both agreed that next time we are in town we are definitely making a stop back there.

Caitlin, Thank you for taking the time to do a review. We appreciate our happy customers and we are glad that you got to enjoy our patio seating overlooking the best beach around. You chose 2 good menu items, The "All Killer No Filler" Crab Cake Sandwich and the Fiery Chicken Tenders which are lightly breaded boneless chicken tenders tossed in our hot wing sauce served with Ranch or Bleu Cheese Dressing. We will give our servers your compliments. We hope to see you again soon.

The first thing you'll notice about the Brass Monkey is its homage to Baltimore sports. Upon asking, I found out that the owners are originally from the Charm City. With that comes some distant Baltimore flavors. There's ample seating indoor and outdoor to enforce social distancing. We opted for an indoor table, though the outdoor tables did have a nice view of the water. We ordered fish sticks from the kid's menu at $6 each for 5 fish sticks and fries. My wife ordered a good sized salad with a nice blackened salmon filet on top. I ordered the crab cake reuben. The crab cake meat was clean and contained some nice pieces of lump crab. I would definitely come back here to sample the rest of the menu.

The monkey balls are such a great deal, very good mini crab cakes basically. The frozen drinks are also delicious! Then I got the French onion soup which wasn't bad but they put tons of finely chopped (probably jarred) garlic on everything. I love lots of garlic, there was just way too much and it's not the most pleasant kind of garlic. They also put lots of it in my mussels/sauce. The mussels said they came in wine sauce so I was not expecting a tomato based sauce which is what I received. I never would have ordered it if it stated that on the menu, I hate stewed tomatoes and tomato based sauce with my mussels. I also wasn't a fan of the cheesy bread that came with my dish. I prefer toast or something harder to soak my mussel sauce up, not soft, cheesy bread. I guess it didn't matter since I wanted to avoid the sauce anyway. The Grouper Annapolis was also disappointing to me, it was too cheesy/almost mayonnaise-y. Just a very strange taste to go with seafood. I would visit again for the view, drinks, and apps, but probably not for dinner. The waitress was very good and we were treating very nicely.

Michelle, Thank you for taking the time to do a thorough review of the Brass Monkey. We are happy you tried a variety of our menu offerings. As noted on our menu Our Monkey Balls Starter are four 2.5oz Maryland lump crab balls broiled and served with housemate remoulade sauce. The French Onion Soup is a hearty mixture of beef vegetable stock with leeks, garlic, yellow onions topped with a ciabatta roll, provolone cheese. Our steamed mussels are in a wine sauce, garlic butter and provincial sauce, (tomato). Served with Cheese bread. The Grouper Annapolis is fresh grouper stuffed with our lump crab imperial topped with our imperial sauce then baked to perfection. Please come back again soon.

The service at this establishment tonight was horrible. My bf and I with our 4 kids had to wait over an hour for our food to come out. We got seated at 6:11 pm and at 7:20 pm I had to request to speak to a manager b/c we didn’t even received our appetizer. Our server Art did not check in to provide an update on our order either. We watched 3 other tables that got seated after us get their food before us. When the food came out my food was cold and missing a side. One of our orders was a request for no mushrooms but we got it anyway. The baby at the table got her grill cheese sandwich 10 mins after everyone got their food. But the kicker is that the manager offered to give us 50% off like she was doing us a favor. She called me a liar in front of my kids when I expressed my discrepancy with the entire experience and told me I don’t have to come back. She was completely rude and disrespectful like we were looking for free food. Unfortunately we had to explain to our children that the experience tonight is one example of how black people are sometimes treated when they are only requiring what’s expected.

We’re very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your experience with us. It is our goal to give EVERYONE who visits our restaurant excellent service, delicious food, and a beautiful place to enjoy their time with us. The night you were in we were very, very busy. We offer that not as an excuse for poor service, but because every restaurant experiences slightly slower service when running at or near their capacity. We checked your service ticket, and it indicated only 30 minutes between the time your order was placed and the time your food came up. We did notice when looking at your service ticket, that you ordered 3 hamburgers done Medium-Well. That explains why your ticket took a bit longer than our average. We then spoke with your server, and he remembered you well. The reason it took so long for your appetizer to come out is that you ordered it some time after your ordered your meals. This, of course, means that the appetizer wasn’t started until after your main courses were already being prepared. We discussed the missing side, and the server assures us he corrected that very quickly for you. We also spoke with the manager that you spoke with. She assures us that she did not call you a liar and that she was simply trying to create a better experience for your family. Your order was a big one, and your family ate the food that you were served. With that in mind, a 50% discount represents a very generous offer. Again, it is our goal to make everyone happy and to create an experience that makes them want to come back. We are very sorry that we failed to do that.

Was at the Brass Monkey last February, and wanted to share with the other couple with us on the trip, to experience the Monkey Balls on the menu. Cute name for crab meat shaped into balls. The Monkey Balls were great (plated 4 each) and drinks were cold. We were all happy with the exception that it was raining and we could not experience outdoor dining with that killer view of the Gulf.

Jim, Thank you for taking the time to do a review of the Brass Monkey from your visit in February. You made a great choice in trying the Monkey Balls which are four 2.5oz Maryland lump crab balls broiled and served with homemade remoulade sauce. Did you read our story about why they are called Monkey Balls? It is the brass plate that cannon balls are stacked on so that they don't roll away. Come back and enjoy our restaurant again on your next trip.

Went for lunch after arriving for our daughter’s graduation from college. Great view of the ocean and things were going fine until my daughter found a chunk of hard plastic that had broken off of something in her wrap (luckily, she saw it before biting into it). Waved down the host/manager who was seating someone else and pointed it out. He took the plate with very little said (and no apology) and after a long wait, our server brought a replacement wrap (no one ever asked if that is what we wanted). While the server apologized (she was lovely and still got a full tip), our daughter’s wrap was still charged on our bill and the manager never came out to apologize. I know people will continue to go there because the view is amazing. Just beware that location may have made the leadership of the restaurant pretty complacent about how hard they need to try.

RK, We are very sorry that you had such a disappointing experience while with us. We should, indeed, have taken the time to apologize for the problem, and to discuss with you how best to make your experience better. Please accept our belated apology. We know it is too late now to change your experience, but we would if we could. We hope that you can find it in your heart to give us another chance to show you just how good we can be, and that you will do another review. We are confident that if you do we will make you happy.

We put our name on the list and waited an hour and a half for a table. After we got sat we then waited about fifteen minutes for the waitress to take our order and then it was a full hour before the food came. The inside is very crowded and in no way follows social distancing guidelines, especially the stairs. I would not go back. The bathrooms are one stall so they also have a long wait. It is fine if you are single and just want to drink but not good for families, large groups, or people concerned about close contact.

We were referred to the Brass Monkey after a trip to Shell Key. When we arrived, we were promptly seated on an outside upper deck with beautiful views of the Gulf. We quickly figured out that the restaurant was owned by someone from Maryland. The menu was diverse and the crabcakes were delicious Maryland blue crab with minimal filler. Our server was attentive. Prices were reasonable. My husband had a soft pretzel covered in crab dip, my cousin had crab stuffed mushrooms and I had pizza. Everything was delicious. Would highly recommend The Brass Monkey!

From the moment you walk into the restaurant you feel part of the place. The hostess and waitress very very friendly and welcomed you. Our waitress Lexi was awesome and was very attentive during our meal. My wife and I decided to go with several appetizers instead of each having a full entrée. We first had an order of baked crab dip. The dip was delicious and loaded with crab meat. The dip is served with crackers. My wife then order the colossal shrimp cocktail. Well let me say the shrimp looked like little lobster tails...wow. You get 4 shrimp with the order and they were delicious. The cocktail sauce that comes with the shrimp was also very tasty and had the right about of horseradish (heat) flavoring. I order the steam clams. You get a dozen little neck clams in a very flavorful broth that had diced tomatoes and chorizo in the broth. You also receive a side of cheese bread and this is very good and helps soak up the clam broth. Everything was very good and would definitely recommend this place and we will be back here.

We are maryland born and raised and military life has moved us far from home naturally. So we do not get maryland seafood often if ever anymore. We vacation on Passagrille every year and we absolutely love the Brass Monkey. Their food is always amazing, and it is traditional maryland style seafood. Pretty much everything on the menu is good but our favorite apps are the stuffed mushroom caps, monkey balls, and crab dip. My favorite entree is the bay burger. Us Marylanders love our crab and they are above par. It’s a very homey vibe and a great atmosphere. Not sure what happened during the visits of these other reviews but it really is a great place if you like maryland style seafood.

We arrived at 4:30 and were seated outside right away. The second story restaurant offers an unsurpassed view of St. Pete Beach from the outdoor seating area. Public parking is available close by. Busy times will require a block or two walk to get to the Brass Monkey from your parking spot. Waitress was attentive and friendly. The restaurant has an inside bar and table area that seats about 75. Outside seating for about 40. I had the mixed lemonade and vodka which was excellent. We ordered the seafood potato skins and chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. Liked best...the view. Liked least...paying for parking.

Food was ok, soggy bread though on sandwich. We wanted to use our $50 gift card and were told it was worth only $20. Paid for our meal with our own credit card instead and asked for our gift card back, So we could go home and find original receipt for $50 , they said they already cut it up. ( very fishy ). We came back with our receipt for $50 and we were told it could not have been the card , but how did they know, the card was cut up, by them, and why ???? How many other people did this happen to? Also stories about who issued card were not consistent, and we were told about system being messed up. We will not go back there or take our other business associates there either. There was no attempt to rectify this . Small money but bad business.

Jim W. We are sorry for the confusion. You parents gave us a gift card that had originally been sold through our old POS (Point Of Sale) system. When we updated to a new POS the information on the outstanding (old) Gift Cards from the old system was saved to a spreadsheet. When we are presented with an old Gift Card we do two things. We find the matching number on the spreadsheet and check the amount it was purchased for. We then generate a new Gift Card (on the new POS system) for that dollar amount, and present that to the customer. This is exactly what we did for your parents. We have checked, and double-checked, the amount on the spreadsheet for the old card, and it is $20. The receipt that your parents presented to us the next day WAS for $50, but on a card generated more recently on our new POS. So, it is our current belief that there is a (new) $50 card which was purchased and never used, …and the (now new) $20 card which we traded your parents for the old card we cut up. So, we think if you take a hard look around for the $50 card you'll see that all of this was just a misunderstanding. We do have to say that it's insulting that you would accuse our bartender of stealing on a credit card transaction. Everything is clearly documented and there is absolutely no possibility of any impropriety on the part of our staff. That said, if you want to come in and use your two cards we will not refuse to serve you.

Skip it! This was the worst place we ate at on our trip. There was a small area to eat outside, but it was full so we had to eat inside. It was super busy & crowded. The atmosphere was awful inside. Outdated looking, random sports memorabilia, not tropical or beachy at all. Menus looked beat up and old. Kind of had an unclean feel to it. Our food was not good. My husband ordered the crab Reuben and i tasted it- it was so bad I had to spit my bite out into a napkin! I ordered the Caribbean jerk wrap and only ate half of it because I really didn’t like it! My son ordered the 10 inch pizza- meh! Wouldn’t recommend that either! Like I said, I’d skip it! There are much better places to eat in the area!!

Rosemount Chick, Thank you for writing a review of the Brass Monkey, We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The Brass Monkey added another amazing Florida west coast experience to our trip! We were greeted by a top notch country singing waiter who was quick and the drinks were delicious. Our wait for a table went by quickly while watching the fun bar and we were seated on the deck. When a couple got up and left, we asked if we could be moved to that outer corner table with the view and she said yes!! The ocean, the service, the chicken wings and drinks...it was fantastic!
