The Brass Monkey added another amazing Florida west coast experience to our trip! We were greeted by a top notch country singing waiter who was quick and the drinks were delicious. Our wait for a table went by quickly while watching the fun bar and...we were seated on the deck. When a couple got up and left, we asked if we could be moved to that outer corner table with the view and she said yes!! The ocean, the service, the chicken wings and drinks...it was fantastic!More

Last week after a fun day on the beach with my daughter and my good friend and her kids I recommended dinner at the brass monkey. I’ve been there in the past and I’ve really enjoyed it. We we were able to get a seat...outside right away even though it was crowded. Waitress came over took our drinks and appetizer order got those very quickly. That’s when things went downhill we waited an hour and 15 minutes to get some crab cakes, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders. After asking the waitress where our food was twice she said it was coming up next. We get our food we eat, we asked for the check once again that took awhile. Once we get the check I see there’s 20% gratuity added to our bill. We had split checks my daughter and I and then my friend and her three children. I asked the waitress why the 20% gratuity was added on and she simply said for parties of six or more we add 20% and then she said it’s on the menu. I wasn’t happy with the service so I asked to speak to a manager his name was Steve he came over. We explain to him that we had to wait so long for food and all he had to say to us was have you seen how busy I have been I’ve been running around all night. Not once did he apologize. I said no Steve I have not been watching you all night but usually when the food takes too long someone like a server will come and say sorry the food is taking so long, maybe offer to take an app off or some sodas. He said well I can take the gratuity off your check, I assumed he would take the appetizer off maybe the sodas for the kids but he chose to take the tip off. I paid him cash, he brought back my change, I left a tip not so great and I told the waitress she can thank Steve for this tip. We leave we go out to our car another employee who was not involved in the situation at all starts chasing us down, scared the children took pictures of our license plates our cars and our faces saying that we ran out on the the check, said we were trash and she was calling the cops. I was shocked. I told her to go ahead and call the cops because I will explain to them how we are being harassed for something we did not do. We called the manager on our way home, Steve and he once again wanted nothing to do with the situation and said he knew nothing about it. Very unfortunate situation, obviously won’t be back. So heads up if the food takes too long just be prepared to suck it up and wait because no one cares!!!More

We found black hairs in our food. ownership stated that due to the notion that their staff wears hats, the hair could not possibly be theirs. We paid our $70+ bill, tipped our server well and departed, never to return. Too bad for the restaurant...that they displayed such a flippant attitude toward their dining guests; after all, we are locals, and you know how word of mouth spreads!More

The Brass Monkey was a new stop for us on our regular visits to St Pete Beach. A friend of a friend thought we might enjoy their crab cake balls, known as Monkey Balls. They were small and pricey but delicious. Unfortunately we also ordered...their $30 dollar shrimp plate. Four shrimp, the size of your hand and about a quarter inch thick, they were chewy and tasteless. We left 3 on the plate. So many great seafood places in the area, skip this one. Overpriced and tasteless!More

From the moment you walk into the restaurant you feel part of the place. The hostess and waitress very very friendly and welcomed you. Our waitress Lexi was awesome and was very attentive during our meal. My wife and I decided to go with several...appetizers instead of each having a full entrée. We first had an order of baked crab dip. The dip was delicious and loaded with crab meat. The dip is served with crackers. My wife then order the colossal shrimp cocktail. Well let me say the shrimp looked like little lobster tails...wow. You get 4 shrimp with the order and they were delicious. The cocktail sauce that comes with the shrimp was also very tasty and had the right about of horseradish (heat) flavoring. I order the steam clams. You get a dozen little neck clams in a very flavorful broth that had diced tomatoes and chorizo in the broth. You also receive a side of cheese bread and this is very good and helps soak up the clam broth. Everything was very good and would definitely recommend this place and we will be back here.More
