This place is unique, in that you have to line up before it opens in order to get a seat. No reservations. Crowds show up 30 min. before it opens. Excellent steaks, sides--really good salad, drinks. Superb service. Quite expensive, but worth it (?) for...a special occasion.More
We read about 1200 chophouse as soon as we arrived in St Pete’s beach and as it’s just across from the Bellwether hotel where we stayed (another great story), thought we would go for our last night in town. We arrived at 5:30pm which is...early for dinner by UK stds, but knew it gets busy. On arrival every table was full and we had the option of waiting for a table (about 1hr) or seated outside on the porch or at the bar straight away, we chose the bar. At the bar, it was roomy, feet could actually reach the stool foot rests and we were introduced to the barman Jason who told us all about the food/specials, served us drinks and took our order after we had selected. We’re used to being rushed in most US restaurants which always feels too quick between courses, but 1200 Chophouse seem to have got the timings perfect between courses and we enjoyed a really relaxed 1 1/2hr meal fully satisfied. It’s not cheap and we spent around $160 (£128) but that included 2 rounds beer and Prosecco, appetisers, salads, entrees and bread, for the quality of food, taste and service is well worth the visit. Will definitely visit the next time we are in the USA.More
Best filet, ever! Gorgonzola sauce was amazing. Small place but totally blew our minds with how good the dinner was. I will go every time I am in town from now on!
My wife and I along with four friends went there May 12th. We ordered Bruschetta with tomatoes and balsamic on it. It was a very tasty app. I ordered a NY Strip and my wife had the Ribeye. Both steaks had a great flavor and...cooked to medium-rare, the way we ordered. My friends had the Strip, Ribeye, and pan-seared Sea Bass. The said the steak was delicious and so was the Sea Bass. The toss salad was very fancy with a good taste. Our waiter was Richard and he was outstanding. Very prompt on everything. Highly recommend this place.More
Today is our second time here. What a wonderful place to have a dinner or even just to bite something. Great service, delicious dresser. Both times we opted to stay outside as the temperature was pleasant and we were able to enjoy the sunset. We...really recommend this restaurant for you to enjoy your time!More

Great steak. salad was very good. Mashed potato portion small and lukewarm (Personally dont like my mashed potatoes served with an "ice cream scooper"; not with these prices and quality of steak). Small place inside with some outside seating. Just beer and wine. Wine list...was limited but found a nice Silver Oak. Noisy inside. My only complaint is that we felt very rushed by our waiter until we told him to chill. No reservations taken. We were told an hour and waited about 30 minutes; glad we didn't go across the street for a drink. If they call you and you aren't there; you lose your spot. I would go again for the steak; wish the service was more professional.More
Upon arrival we checked in with the host and were directed to the service end of the bar to get drinks to take outside while we wait the approx 40 minutes it might take to get a table. No problem, we were both getting a...glass of wine so we didn't even notice they only service beer and wine. Lots of casual seating so the wait outside was extremely pleasant! Within 15 minutes we were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar, which we did, to be honest it added to the evening! The staff serving at the bar are knowledgable, engaging and really added to the experience. The food was excellent. The chophouse Shrimp appetizer was amazing. The starter salad that is included with the entree was excellent, our steaks were perfectly cooked. Neither of us had the recommended pork chop but others at the bar did and they said it was amazing. The wine list was good, nice selections. Overall this was one of the best evenings of the vacation. The staff really added to the evening. Would be a regular if I were local, that's how good it was.More

Very small place with great steaks. They do not take reservations or call ahead seating so just go and get on the waiting list. Bar is very small and you cannot sit there and wait for a table since they use these seats for dining...also, which is where they sat us. They said the wait would be 45 min, though it ended up being only about 10 min. Friendly bartender and good conversations with others at the little 8 seat bar. They do not have a full liquor license, just beer and wine, though the wine list is great. Had the fried goat cheese app at the recommendation of other diners and it was great. Both had the ribeye which was cooked to perfection and awesome. One nice thing is that unlike other steakhouses who charge extra for potato, veg, salad, etc... these guys do not. A nice side salad is included, as is your choice of potato with dinner. A refreshing change for a higher end steakhouse. Would definitely go back.More
Eat here if you are a party of 4 or more. Eat here if you don’t mind ordering only to learn the entree featured on the menu is not available. Eat here if you don’t mind waiting over an hour. Eat here if you don’t...mind being seated at a table 8 inches from your neighboring table (on either side). The waitstaff is excellent. It is a beer/wine establishment and not worth the wait/menu. Put our name in. Told one hour. Walked down to shops. Came back after 45 minutes and told called our name a long time ago. They said we can't leave. No one said that when we put our name in. They were not trying to...assist at all. Very poor customer service. When I told them they quoted me an hour, he said yeah I over quoted. That's your problem, not mine. Take a number next time or tell me I can't leave. You made the situation wrong and did nothing to correct it. Very disappointing service.More
Quaint steakhouse with a great atmosphere and excellent steaks. The service is fantastic as well. We went with a party of six mid-week and got there when they opened and got the last table. There was a small line waiting the rest of the evening,...but the restaurant turned over at a reasonable pace. Honestly, the best meal and experience we had on our trip. Highly recommendMore
All I can say is that this restaurant is amazing, the best steak we have ever had. We were on holiday from the UK and spent a week at St Petes beach. We decided to check this place out. The service was spot on, the...waiter very helpful, answering any questions with the menu. The steaks were so tasty and tender and very big! We were so impressed we came here twice. Definitely worth a visit. IMore
We called in without a booking and the quoted wait time of 20 mins for a table was fairly accurate. We both had a ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection. Good service and atmosphere. The bill was reasonable too.
