A Casual Dining restaurant with a focus on fresh ingredients located on St. Pete Beach. Serving BREAKFAST, lunch, dinner and late night. Plenty of outdoor seating on the patio, and indoor seating, air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. Serving fresh seafood, and home-made chicken, pork and beef selections, all prepared fresh, by hand, specifically for you. Sauces, vegetables and mixed dishes prepared daily, in-house, and always from fresh ingredients. The friendly staff, and regular local crowd, make it a fun place to hang out. With a full-service bar, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating at the bar, there is something for everyone. The restaurant is family friendly, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area.

This was our first experience at Rick's Reef and we enjoyed the food. We ordered the jumbo fried shrimp dinner with fries and potato salad as sides $14.50 & we ordered the blackened grouper dinner with fried corn on the cob and garlic mashed potatoes $16 . The shrimp were a good size and tasty. The fries were fresh natural cut, not crisp but tasty. The potato salad was chunky and lightly tasty. The serving was a bit too large for the light taste. I probably should have asked for a little mustard or bbq sauce to add to it. The blackened grouper was flavorful and not too spicy. The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty. The fried corn wasn't what we were expecting as it wasn't battered and fried, just fried. Service was good. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and we chose outdoor being close to the water. Big mistake as there are plenty of smokers. Our server wore her mask as did we. None of the other guests even had a mask and the server for the table beside us didn't wear one either. People came in after us and sat at the table right beside us rather than skipping a table . This along with the no mask was quite disconcerting and very uncomfortable. The food is very good and we recommend. This is a very casual bar restaurant.

Hello, summer salad

Everyone has grouper on the menu around here. And it’s usually pretty good. But the Summer Salad with grilled grouper at Rick’s Reef was way above the average. For $14, you get a really nice size filet on top of a huge bed of spinach with fresh strawberries and a delicious strawberry vinaigrette (usually not my favorite) that seemed homemade. Definitely worth a try!

This place was so cool especially for people my husband and I age in the 50's lol.. we meet so many people that were so down to earth we enjoyed sitting on the seats outside that wrap around the bar. The food was so delicious, the drinks were perfect not water down the bar tender was very funny spoke to everyone in conversation. And helped us find places to go we would name places and she would say hey go here go there try this and try that and she was right on point! We will be going back next year!

My boyfriend and I went in at about 1130 because the website advertised that they opened at 11. We went in, there was absolutely no seating and open seating, so it was quite hard to find a spot. There was also no where to sit and wait. It was Sunday so they served breakfast until noon and that was not stated anywhere on the website. We wanted lunch so we left and came back about 10 minutes after noon. We still could not find seating and sat at a dirty table. We had to grab menus ourselves just to find out that the kitchen had to be switched over from breakfast and they would not be serving lunch still. We waited ten minutes for water! We decided to leave after we waited a while and then left because they continued to take breakfast tickets and wouldn’t be able to take lunch tickets until those were gone. Horrible service, would not recommend.

Average food with high prices & wondered if they wanted customers

We walked in and asked to be seated. The host said that it would be about 45 minutes wait. No big deal on a Friday night but there were plenty of empty tables and another person walked up and seated our group of four immediately. Just wondering if the first host was tired of working and wanted to turn business away. Our server was very good and checked on our table the right amount of times without being overly intrusive. The food flavor was just average. I had grouper stuffed with crab/lobster. It was basically flavorless and needed, at the very least, a smidgen of seasoning. The prices are not cheap and one would expect at least a little effort put into the flavor of the food to complement the fresh seafood.

Caesar Salad Was A Plate Of Lettuce

Servers remained confused about needing to seat us or have us stand and wait. The restaurant capacity was 1/2 full and we waited 25 minutes for a to go order containing 2 salads, and a sandwich. Having a smile and being considerate is not on the job description at this restaurant. We felt like our presence was an inconvenience.

SCT, very sorry to see this review. At this time we had just reopened back up after being closed for several weeks due to COVID. Using new procedures and learning how to run a restaurant at partial capacity was a challenge for everyone. I apologize for any confusion or unsatisfactory service. We do pride ourselves on great service, amazing food and cold drinks. Every review is taken under serious constructive criticism and we appreciate all feedback. We do hope you come back and try us out again.

Local beach dwellers return visit to an old favorite a disappointment

I've stopped writing reviews a long time ago, however I felt this experience was so outside the norm that one was merited. Our review is for a recent visit on a Saturday night well after dinner rush. Odd reception upon entry, directed towards the bar to have dinner there, where all but one of the dining room tables were empty. Asked to sit at a table for dinner and advised to sit anywhere. We sat down at a clean table and then were asked to move from the table since it could sit six people. There was only one other table seated in the dining area that night. Seemed awkward given the state of things. Sat at another table which should have been cleaned before we sat down. The table was not cleaned during the course of our diner. Diner order taken in a cursory manner, no drinks or dinner specials offered. Food arrived in normal time, chicken dish was clearly undercooked. Other meal had a considerably smaller portion than in the past. Wait staff cursing loudly at kitchen window during our diner. Another couple was seated at a table nearby, so it appeared that the dining room was still open for diner. No eating utensils nor napkins offered for dinner. Wait staff observed us get up from the table, go to another table with napkins and cutlery piled on it to retrieve things to eat meal. No check back by wait staff during meal. Had to pursue wait staff for check. We have been looking forward to getting back to patronizing our favorites. Sadly, Ricks Reef is no longer on our list.

Best home fries!

Ate here for breakfast after reading the reviews. They were out of champagne so I couldn't get the mimosa I wanted but I was able to get the best diet pepsi I have had at a restaurant. If you're a pop drinker then you know what I mean, the mixture had to be just right. Anyway, I had scrambled eggs and bacon and home fries and white toast. I don't know what they do to their home fries that they were the best ones I had but they were. Home fries seem to be a thing in st pete, no hash browns and so after having home fries everywhere else these were my favorite. Also, the white bread toast, I don't know the bread is thicker and toasted just right, it is very good. I had that egg dish and my husband had the country fried steak and we had two diet pepsis and that was our least expensive meal of our trip and it was really good food served by Brian who was friendly and gave us a refill to go. Definitely on my list to go to the next trip. I liked the sign they had that said something like no fast food, just fresh food, no microwave here. Gotta like fresh food!!

I cannot rate or comment on the food, because I never received any. Or drinks, or menus, or any service. We arrived around 11am for lunch. The kitchen was changing over from breakfast to lunch, which is fine. There is a sign stating this at the door (breakfast service until 10:45, lunch starting at 11:15), and the host mentioned this. We asked to be seated and we would wait until lunch was ready, because we wanted to get out of the 90°+ sun. The waiter didn't want to seat us, but eventually agreed to let us sit at one of the multiple empty tables in the outdoor section. There were only 2 people sitting at the bar and one other family finishing breakfast. We waited for over 30 minutes and were never checked on again. We would have been happy to order a drink and wait, or even get a glass of water and menus, but nothing. I wish I could rate the food, but I never even had a chance to order, or even see a menu.

Visited on April 12 my wife had the BLT, I had the Lobster Roll. The lobster roll wax the worst lobster roll that I have ever had in my life the only thing they did get right was the New England style roll. The lobster itself was like a lobster chopped salad you could hardly see the lobster totally horrible I managed to get half of it down I honestly regret not sending it back my bad. My wife's BLT was ok she felt that the Bacon should have been cooked more. Their fries were ok but honestly that's it. I could never ever recommend this place for food

Delicious Food in a Casual Atmosphere

The food was super tasty!! I had the meatloaf sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. Also tried the corn, which was tasty. The onion rings were huge and were served with roumelade sauce. The texture of the batter was different than expected, but was well seasoned. My hubby had the crab cakes and he said they were phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for a casual eatery with tasty food!

Awful!!

We waited an extremely long time to be seated and get food. It took 2 hours from the time we arrived to the time our food was served and it wasn't super busy. This was after the host told us several times it would only be 15 to 20 minutes to be seated. Our group ordered several different items on the menu and none of it was good. I am not a picky eater in the least, however, I could only eat a few bites of my coconut shrimp and fries because they tasted so greasy. Host and waitress were very nice, but would not recommend this restaurant.

Ate with the family one night recently while visiting St. Pete’s while on vacation. Food was your one step up from fast food but not gourmet. So instead of a $34 dish with Grouper, you pay $17 and, honestly, the grouper is just as good as any upscale restaurant. We had the grouper (it was very good!), mahi mahi fish tacos (average), and chicken Alfredo (avg). The slaw was great and the fries were really good. Family of four with two beers and two margaritas (for the adults!) was $100 after tax and tip. Considering how much everything costs in Tampa st. Pete, it’s better than going out to restaurants that are above the moderate cost. One downside is that the restrooms are not super... more like your college bar type bathrooms.

Lobster love

This place has a variety of good food. If you like fries you definitely need to have the LOBSTER FRIES!! They’re so good. We had the lobster roll sandwich which had clumps of lobster meat that was overflowing on the sandwich. Cool little place to do for dinner or lunch.

Dingy serving smelly shrimp

I went for bloody mary bar and seafood. No bloody mary bar "covid" the peel n eat shrimp I ordered smelled bad. Place is dingy/dirty. Regulars drinking and eating at the bar loud and trashy. 4:45,pm on a Wed. Horrible!!
