Very friendly staff and good food. I ordered a bbq baked potato that was great and my husband ordered a shrimp dish. We had our dog with us and they allowed us to eat inside since the temperature outside was very chilly. They were the best in my opinion!

We had breakfast here maybe 8 years ago, little did I know I'd be having a family dinner there now. We were seated immediately and the server was spot on with drinks and starters. Shrimp was grilled to perfection, my lemon pepper shrimp was a treat. Our son-in-law's flounder was perfect, ribs were cleaned to the bone. Even the chicken fingers were crispy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside.

My husband & I had lunch here today. The service was great but the food was just ok with 2 exceptions - the chopped pork was delicious & so were the onion rings. The southern potato salad had a good taste but the texture was like pureed, the baked beans were kind of mushy, the brisket was cut too thick & dry & the roll was very dry, unfortunately we would not return.

We had been told this was a good place to have breakfast but I now feel that it is because it is the only place to have breakfast. We were pretty disappointed with Beach Pit and next time will drive out of town to have BF. A little presentation on the plate would have been nice. The omelette had no cheese or anything on top. The only good thing about this meal is that the eggs were very nicely fluffy. The worst part of the meal is that we were sharing this meal and only one piece of toast came with the omelette. In a neighboring town we discovered that an omlette came with fruit and choice of grits or potatoes. For only one dollar more. I feel that the restaurants really take advantage of people knowing there is not much choice on the island. sad !

When there was plenty of parking in the front door on a Friday night when the town was packed, we should’ve seen that as a sign. There were very few people dining and several servers but service was not great. Mixed drinks were delicious and food came out fast, but all the food was weird and seemed rushed or phoned in. Lemon pepper shrimp lacked flavor and was chewy. Green beans had little flavor. Grouper was rubbery and bland. Brunswick Stew was mostly sweet bbq sauce. The worst were the wings—I guess they were baked at some point but they were cool on the outside and cold in the middle. (The sauce and the ranch was good.) We actually sent the wings back out of food safety fears and just got a grilled cheese. The cheese wasn’t even melted on the inside. Wholly disappointing meal and then there was an up charge for credit cards as the proverbial cherry on top.

We went at 5 p.m. to try to beat the rush. There were only 4 tables occupied. We were seated immediately. An hour & 35 minutes later they started bringing part of our order. It was cold & nasty. When we finally had everyone's order except for one (she had ordered a beef potato only), we had to ask about it they told us they didn't have potatoes. I asked to see the manager. She could have cared less, but asked if I wanted to speak to the owner. We waited 15 minutes for the owner, who never came out. We went inside to find him. He was the absolute rudest man I've ever encountered. He told the waitress she was going to have to pay for our food. While we were there there were at least 6 tables of people who left without their food. The parking lot was full of people waiting on to go orders. Don't waste your vacation time going there.

We're snowbirds who've eaten here several times during each of the last few years and we've never had a single complaint. We've sampled a variety of their menu and always enjoyed the service, drinks, and food. It's our chosen place to celebrate Valentine's Day with their steak and lobster dinner special. The steak, whether sirloin or ribeye, is always tender, juicy and cooked to order. The lobster tail is also tender and juicy which can't always be said for a surf and turf combo. We'll be back as long as they're open and the Good Lord allows.

Simple breakfast menu delivers on what is promises -- simple fare well prepared. Extra points for having grits; points deduced for artificial creamer instead of cream. But coffee is hot and refilled often.

We ate there twice while staying nearby. First day was good. Waitress was mindful of any needs we had (coffee refills, etc). Second day it was not as busy and we were seated immediately. 15 minutes went by before a waitress came. She took our order. 5 minutes later finally coffee. When our food finally came out I had waffle with blueberries and no blueberries. She went back to get blueberries and they were ice cold in a small bowl. Waited for coffee refills and my husband had to get up and go get it himself. But the kicker was not getting the bill….my husband had to ask two people to go find our waitress. Girl at desk never did (we watched her), another waitress finally found our waitress and finally got the bill. Training is important in food service!

We love the Beach Pit and when we’re on the island it is our favorite stop We love breakfast and for lunch the baked potato! BBQ to go by the pound served family style after a beach day hits the spot. The service is always spot on. It is consistent and should be on your list of regular places to eat.

To be fair, there is a nationwide stag shortage right now and they even have a sign right inside as soon as you walk in talking about the staff shortage. So, I understand the staff shortage. We came here at the beginning of our vacation for dinner. The food was fairly good and we sat outside on the picnic tables in the shade watching the seagulls out on the lawn while eating. Dinner was a fairly good experience. Nothing superbly over-the-top awesome. Then, we went there for breakfast on our last morning during the breakfast. The food was mediocre in terms of quality. Also, there was something wrong with their tea kettles so the waitress brought more hot water for our tea in a coffee mug and poured it directly into our tea cups (which already had tea in them) and spilled some of the water on the table. But, our waitress was nice to us and the atmosphere was nice for breakfast.

Over-priced! $14 for a regular sized brisket sandwich and baked beans. The brisket was chopped! The bbq sauce was good. Hubs had $12 oyster basket, 10 fried oysters and green beans. Very dim outdoor lighting on the enclosed patio.

This restaurant was one of the few that we noted on any social media sites with a review that I was able to find credible. There are very few places to dine on St George Island itself. We walked into this totally empty restaurant two days before Christmas at 5 pm. None the less, our waitress, Emma was sharp and attentive. We ordered off a menu that featured BBQ on one side of the menu and Seafood on the other. Empty restaurant, menu with two many choices. We looked at each, and we were silently resigned to mediocrity. When our waitress approached us to order, she was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a Seafood platter, which had fried shrimp, fried grouper, and should have had fried oysters, except I substituted those for extra fried shrimp. The batter was light and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The fried grouper was good. The French fries were my choice as one of two sides, among many choices. They were thin and decent tasting as French fries go. I took it safe and should have tried another option. The other side I chose was the cole slaw. It was very fresh. Home made and worth the risk. My mother bragged about the fried okra and hush puppies. My partner chose the grilled shrimp. It was a platter with a seasoning that was, as my partner described “ spot on “ He chose the side salad which was not at all a typical food service salad mix. It was fresh, and a good choice. The portions are huge. I should have split a platter with my sister, who also ordered the fried shrimp platter and equally enjoyed everything. We did not order dessert or alcohol beverages. The waitress was very efficient. She provided every thing we needed in a timely manner. I will also say that our family has consciously chosen to try to support our local businesses as they struggle. We too try to reward good service above the typical expected gratuity as these staff members are barely making enough to make it worth it for them to even come to work, while serving those of us who are willing to venture out during this pandemic. I understand that not everyone can be so generous, but I do plead with those people ( and we know who we are ) that are able to look around you and try to understand that most of the people who make our evenings out possible are struggling to pay their bills. We need to order take out, give generous tips, and reward excellent service, so these businesses can be here years later when we are no longer in a pandemic. Anyway, it’s definitely better than the other fried seafood restaurant nearby that we tried based on the amount of cars in its parking lot.

While visiting SGI with friends, my husband and I decided to go to The Beach Pit for breakfast. It was pretty good, not great. Food was warm, but not hot. We both had the two egg plate with sausage. Plate included two scrambled eggs, one sausage patty and one piece of toast. Husband also ordered orange juice. I would estimate the glass at 12 ounces and it was $5. Several jelly selections were on the table. Service was friendly and very fast. We thought the food was probably already prepared and in warmers. Everything considered, we would return to The Beach Pit for breakfast.

Great breakfast, friendly and prompt service! The grits were served piping hot and were exactly the right consistency. Highly recommend getting a biscuit, I had a biscuit with sausage and egg. The omelette my daughter ordered (meat lovers) was cooked perfectly.
