We were there with 4 friends for a drink and early dinner. Loved that we could sit outside, with a view of the waterway.
We shared the Captain's Platter and a cup of chowder...very tasty and common to St Augustine. I would rate the food as even with most fried seafood places. One diner's shrimp and grits was served with fried shrimp on top of grits...which she ordered when the special was sold out...at 5:30 PM?
The problem with the bar? Three of us ordered drinks mixed with tonic water. All three received drinks mixed with water rather than tonic. After 2 replacements, three for one person, we switched to wine as the mixed drinks were so bad. The waiter did his best, but the bartender just could not get it right.
Our first visit in a couple of years-we had stopped going due to overly loud music, unfriendly staff, food quality. Will not be in a hurry to go back.

We dined here after a sunset cruise located at same marina. We were seated outdoors promptly and were thrilled that there was live music. We ordered sangria ($7) and fajita wraps ($13 each) and both were delivered in a timely fashion. The food was very good but the sangria was a little sweeter than we are used to. The outdoor atmosphere and music were nice and we didn't feel rushed to leave quickly, plenty of available tables. We would definitely return here.

Living local in Central Florida, I often take weekend trips to Saint Augustine. That night I was looking for a sunset view, but it turned out to be a typical summer afternoon with early rain. I can’t believe all the years that I’ve been coming to the area I’ve never been here on the Camachee next to the Villano Bridge, I usually eat dinner on St Augustine beachside.
They opened that Saturday at 4, I took an awesome spot by the window with great views of the active marina. Outside, a nice area with picnic tables, chairs by the water, and a large tiki hut to eat in also. I can’t wait to return and just chill with a drink.
I ordered the Shrimp & Scallop Alla Vodka; the menu had a really good variety and I was surprised to see fresh sushi. The loaf of bread they gave you was hot and just scrumptious.
I was amazed at the plate I got.. penne pasta, the sauce was just delicious not heavy or thick and not really spicy which is good for me. But I was not expecting for the price, the amount of scallops and shrimp, couldn’t even eat it all. The scallops were done perfectly, so tender and so sweet and the shrimp were large.
I wish it hadn’t rained, I would’ve hung out there for a while as they also have entertainment in the evening.
If you’re looking for a nice casual restaurant with great service and ambience, this is your spot. Kingfish Grill is a keeper.

If you have a dog your not allowed to sit in a seat on the patio, you have to sit on a hard picnic bench.
Service was horrible. Our server was no where to be seen and seemed putout.
Another big table arrived after us and they were well attended. Our food arrived without salad dressing.
We asked two waitstaff for my salad dressing as our server had not returned.
Get this...They each told me “no I wasn’t their table.” It wasn’t until my husband said all she wants is her salad dressing did any staff member decide to take 20 seconds out of their time to get salad dressing. Clearly they do not support each other at this restaurant.
Food: The shrimp appetizer was good , however the conch fritters were soggy balls of mush. steak was middle of the road.
Scallops were good but served drowning in tons of butter. Red beans and rice appeared to be not fresh. My husband said his mashed garlic potato’s and shrimp were the best part of his meal. We didn’t have dessert, I had enough.
I would spend my 80$ someplace else. I hope the rest of our weekend at St. Augustine goes better.

We arrived early Early Saturday evening December 19 around 5 PM before the restaurant got busy.
Our server didn’t quote the correct specials for the evening. We stated ahead of time that we wanted 4 for separate checks for a party of eight.
We had to ask for water several times.
She got the initial drink order incorrect.
When out meals came out, only 3 out of 8 were correct. My sides were all luke warm and wrong.
Once I and another guess got the correct sides we had to ask for the sauce that was suppose to be on the side. One guest never got their main entrée just the sides.
The server rolled her eyes at us because we actually wanting our meals as we ordered them.
When she finally rang us up she overcharged us for drinks and put us all on the same bill and divided it by eight. I took a manager probably 15 minutes to Re-ring the bill without the drinks we were overcharged for, but the bill was still totaled with all guest on the same bill. Oh and the drinks still weren’t right, we got charged for 5.5 drinks
So service a negative one star food maybe a one star.
I guess the manager didn’t do anything to make it right because he thought we were tourist. Although I live in Central Florida now I lived in Saint Johns For 25 years and still have a home there and go there frequently but I definitely will never be back to this restaurant.

We have found most the downtown restaurants very disappointing since we arrived in this beautiful town but we have just moved into a wonderful house on Camachee Island, overlooking the glorious marina, and we have the Kingfish Grill as our local watering hole. What good fortune! So good was the meal last night that we are prompted to praise the place, thank the welcoming staff and urge people to pay it a visit. We had some of the best calamari for ages and the snow crab plate was as generous as it was delicious. The weekends are a bit of a challenge for obvious socially-distancing reasons but David on the bar plays the best music from the late 60s and 70s to make any waiting a sheer joy.

My wife and I had a fantastic happy hour and an absolutely fresh dinner tonight at Kingfish, which is on the way to Vilano. We sat at the bar and had two terrific and very attentive, and masked servers/bartenders (Dillion and Joe). My wife went with the hog snapper, with blackened shrimp, crumbled bacon, jalapeno grits, and fresh mixed veggies. I opted for the steak wrap and chose red beans with rice and coleslaw as my sides. We were offered fresh bread and I added a very generous side salad for $4.00. You can not beat the price, service, ambiance, and quality of this place...5 thumbs up!

I have been waiting months to get good crab legs. I read the reviews and thought these would be good, but was unfortunately disappointed. We literally just left there and I very rarely complain, but with the price I paid for the dinky crab legs that were stuck to the shell, I had to say something. Our server, Samson, started off well, but as the restaurant got busier he completely forgot about us. I had to get up for salt and pepper, we had to ask a food runner for a drink I had ordered 15 minutes ago and I saw sitting on the bar. A hostess cleared dishes from our table twice and he was nowhere around. Perhaps that is the management’s fault... understaffed? Anyway, we were looking forward to a great seafood meal and it was mediocre at best.

Terrible mistake coming here tonight! They told us it would be 45 min to one hour. They took our phone which I had the hostess repeat back to us correctly. After about an hour, my husband checked with the hostess. They said they tried to call us. We were seated at the bar not far from the hostess stand, no one called us , we were finally seated to only be told then that there was no waitstaff because they were all tied up. The floor manager told us this. People at the bar were waited on before us with food service, even folks who came 45 min or do after us. They discounted our meal 10% but did not assuage the poor treatment we re veiled, the food was good but certainly not what we endured. We will never go back snd I highly recommend that you not choose this restaurant.

We had a sunset cruise with Florida Water Tours, their email gave a 10% discount at this restaurant, which is in the same complex. We went 2 hours early (learned the hard way about waits) at 5 and sat inside (patio is lovely but everything available was getting a lot of sun). Wonderful view inside as well. Ordered the appetizer sampler and the larger crab boil. Hubby loved the gater and shrimp, I loved the crab cake and was enchanted by the Vilano oysters. Seriously - they were amazing and if I go back I will get them all by themselves. The boil was great - plenty for 2 people and a great deal of sausage (most provide a few bites). Only complaint was that our server went missing a few times (but short staffing, so we understand).

We have visited The Kingfish Grill several times since we moved here in July. Every time the food has been excellent, the service attentive, and the ambiance lovely. We chose to have an early New Years Eve dinner here and take the Florida Waters Boat trip to watch fireworks. It was a perfect way to end one year and begin a new decade.

From the service to the location and the outside seating with beautiful lights everywhere, this was amazing. The drinks were good, salads, and the entrees. Our waitress was very sweet and offered suggestions. Checked at the right time and was there when we needed her. My husband had the fried shrimp, lightly coated and cooked without being greasy. I had the shrimp with grits. Soooo good. I asked to have them grilled instead of fried which they very willing did. Good flavor with the cheese, bacon and scallions. We enjoyed everything about this restaurant.

We had dinner here Friday evening and it was terrible. First, our waiter was not very attentive. We sat more than once with empty glasses. Second, either the waiter or the bartender bungled our friends' drink orders. Third, my wife and I ordered salads our friends order one of the specials. Both of these should have been readily available. A couple at the next table came in much after us and got their orders before us. When our friends' orders arrived, they were cold, as though all of our food sat on a counter somewhere before being brought to us. I understand that with Covid, restaurants are short-staffed, etc. However, this did not seem the case as there were lots of waitstaff. We can also understand if the kitchen is short-staffed and it takes a while to catch up. But the fact that half our order arrived cold, that's another issue. To round things off, the musical entertainment was extremely annoying. He was much too loud and it didn't sound like dinner music, just a bunch of improvisation and noodling on the guitar. I didn't even mention the lack of parking. Never again.

I don’t usually take the time to write reviews but I had to this time. My husband and I came here to eat after we did an evening boat tour. We arrived at 8pm and were told 30-45 min wait. We sat at the bar and had a drink. We were seated after waiting just 20 minutes or so. It didn’t seem very busy. We ordered our food and waited a very long time, over an hour for a Caesar salad with steak and the shrimp platter. The best part of the dinner was the bread. It was pretty amazing. The salad with steak was $17. It was tasteless. Literally the worst salad, how do you mess up a caesar ?? The steak was not cooked and was very rare...I ordered medium...It had a lot of fat on it. Our appetizer was okay and so was the sushi. We don’t get these date nights very often and ended up spending a lot of money on a dinner we just left sitting on the table. The atmosphere was nice and so was our waiter. We didn’t say anything or complain. We will never go back.

Yes, another visit here. Service and food are consistently varied and delicious. On this visit, our server was Dylan, who also happens to be a neighbor in our condo complex. He had several specials but recommended the Striped sea bass special. I took his advice and was very pleased with the result. The fish was perfectly grilled and served with red bean rice, lots of lump crabmeat served on a bed of three fried green tomatoes and topped with a tasty homemade salsa. The combination of flavors was a delight to the palate. I had a half dozen oysters on the half shell to start and they were good – James River oysters from near our summer residence. My wife had her usual here, tree hugger roll. Check the pic of the menu for its ingredients. This place is a nice, down home friendly restaurant. Lots of regulars were chatting it up at the bar on this busy Friday evening. 3-13-2020
