A great fun place. Friendly relaxed atmosphere & great service. We dined on a busy Friday night without reservations & only had a short wait in the bar before being shown to a table - but I would recommend booking as it’s deservedly popular. Diners were still being seated after 9pm. The menu is exciting & full of interesting & different options - especially for us trans Atlantic visitors. We were both delighted with our choices. We shared the pork belly & biscuit (really delicious) then enjoyed beef brisket tacos & meat & potatoes. (There were lots of vegetarian options too). Sadly we were too full for dessert.

We looked at a couple of our usual dinner places on a Friday evening after a day of golf. The first couple didn’t really have any vegan options. When we checked out this restaurant, we were good to go. The staff was very friendly and our server, Alec, very knowledgeable and informative. He worked with my wife and she ended up getting a delicious veggie burger with grilled veggies. That was after we had the fried green tomatoes app. I had the fresh catch, flounder, lightly blackened. It also was delicious. We splurged with a dessert this evening – a sour cream strawberry pie for me. It was almost like a strudel. My wife had a vegan cupcake du jour – her favorite, chocolate. The restaurant was quiet even though it was crowded. The bar area has a proliferation of beverages available and the dessert display is mouth-watering. We’ll be back here again.

We learned about The Floridian in The Southern Cast Iron magazine. We immediately made reservations! The food was AMAZING! The staff was friendly, fun and really interacted well with our group. We all tried different dishes, but I have to admit, we couldn't eat dessert. Our group had 2 appetizers, Companys Coming, and Biscuit and Belly. We moved on the Entrees - Shrimp and Sausage Pilau (featured in the magazine), The Winter Salad, the Mahi Mahi, Steak Frites, and the Golden Winter Curry. There was not a bad dish to be had. The flavors were phenomenal and the choices for our gluten free and other concerns were easy to address. This is a must try! We'll be back

Had lunch here today with friends that live in St Augustine, but it was the first tIme at this restaurant for all of us. My wife had looked at the menu and was concerned before we got there about what she could order since she has difficulty in eating/swallowing some foods. I had the meatloaf sandwich which I found the tasty, but I didn’t like it in a sandwich. Should have been served with vegetables. My wife, unable to find anything she felt safe eating, got pimento cheese and a biscuit for her meal. While she enjoyed the pimento cheese and said it was tasty I didn’t particularly feel that her meal was worth $13.00 dollars. Our friends both seemed to enjoyed their meal or if they didn’t they didn’t comment one way or the other. Being a meat and potato type of guys this restaurant really didn’t do it for me aside from being overcharged in my opinion for the meager meal my wife had. The service was alright. Personally I think their are much better restaurant in St. Augustine than this one.

We visited the Floridian for dinner last night... three couples. Based on prior reviews, we were excited about getting reservations several months prior to our visit. Once seated, it took a while getting our waters. When this was noted by our server, she went ahead and took both our drink and dinner orders saying she’d have the waters brought to us by someone else. When our entrees came, only five of us were served as my husband’s shrimp and grits wasn’t brought out. The server from the kitchen quickly noted this and said it would be out in a moment. Our own server said she didn’t know where it was but would go check again. Fifteen minutes later, it showed up. And, it looked like a bowl of cloudy water with five small shrimp sunk to the bottom. Apart from the shrimp, the dish was inedible. I had the Steak Frites, and the meat, cooked medium rare was exceptionally tough. Another disappointment. My husband let our server know about his disappointment with his entree and asked her to also advise the chef and manager. The charge for the entree was removed from our bill... which also included a 20% gratuity because we were a party of six. We advise others to stay away or proceed with lower expectations.

I made a reservation for an early 4:30p dinner for a birthday celebration for 4. We arrived at exactly the right time and were told we had no reservation. We are local and frequent this restaurant. The hostess was in a very fowl mood and I explained the time I called what their person said when I gave them my phone number and they confirmed my name because I was in the system. She said you never called, so what do you want now. We said our table for 4, again she acted in a huff, & my husband said this is my wife's birthday not the way we should be treated. We eventually asked for the manager who finally seated us at a table and mind you the restaurant was at about 20% capacity. She did not apologize for the hostess but got us menus and that was that. During the shutdown we supported this restaurant by getting take out often and tipping well as we knew what they must be going through. Maybe this is not a big deal to some but treating patrons with disrespect is not a way to keep local business. We are in a business where we meet newcomers to teh area and have always supported this restaurant. Food was average this time and we won't be back.

If you're not Vegan don't bother with this restaurant. My fault for not checking the menu first and going off a good rating. Everything is very uppity. No good Kids meals options or any "Regular" food options. Biggest let down was being charged a 12$ fee for bringing my own cake and not being told. Finding out when the check came was a huge shock. Will never return or let any friends/loved ones visit this establishment. There are pleanty of good restaurants in St. Augustine try them instead. Harry's is the best.

I think this restaurant is highly suited for vegan or vegatarian diners. I ordered one of the few meat items on the menu and it was mostly greens. She ordered a vegatarian meal and was very happy with her selection.
Service was excellent.

Pretty good, nothing to knock your socks off. I got the banh mi shrimp poboy. The flavor combinations were unique and had a bit of sweet, savory, and sour (with the pickled veggies). The bread was woefully dry unfortunately which really took away from the experience. Extra sauce or a buttered bread would have made it much better. It came with 6 shrimp and they were pretty small. The side salad was fresh and delicious. My friend got the meatloaf sandwich. Bigger portion, and very tasty. The chips were homemade and very good. The flavor combinations were good and unique, but there’s room for improvement in the execution. Maybe if the prices were more reasonable I would have felt better about the meal, but each sandwich was $15.

Was referred here by a friend. Due to COVID, the restaurant has found a way to meet demand and still serve high quality food with great service. Outdoor seating under a canopy and in a side yard previously used for small groups allowed me and my spouse to experience a great lunch without waiting any more than 10-minutes during peak time.
Sandwiches we experienced were creative, authentic, and fresh, not to mention full of flavor. Staff was attentive without being overbearing. They were very mindful of the overall situation and made our time there very pleasurable. We will go back the next time we're there.

The Floridian was highly recommended for a great lunch spot during our visit to St. Augustine. Since the weather was very hot, we chose to dine inside in the air conditioning. It was very dark inside the restaurant, but it was cooler. We were promptly served ice water and iced tea by the hostess. Our waiter left much to be desired: after an unusually long wait, he took our order. We asked for straws for our drinks, but he didnt return for 10 minutes. Our order was not correct; my burger did not have cheese as I had requested, and the waiter just shrugged and said, "Nope, it doesn't, does it?" He made no offer to correct it. The bun was rock hard. I asked for ketchup, and he returned after 10 minutes with an old ketchup bottle that looked like it had been in the refrigerator for a year with a tiny bit of ketchup in the bottom and crusted ketchup on the cap. He never made any attempt to refill our empty drink glasses.
It is very rare that I don't tip, but I did not leave any tip at all except to say, do not dine here. Terrible service and terrible food.

This was our third visit. The food is always exceptional and the cocktails are inventive and delicious. The Floridian is a must have meal when visiting St. Augustine. A block off the main drag, the restaurant is a bit more quiet and less touristy than some. Highly recommend making reservations several days in advance or a table is not to be had even for a small party.

My husband and I ate at The Floridian with our 2 kids. We had company’s coming and picked shrimp for appetizers. These were pretty good. I had the golden chicken curry which was probably the tastiest meal I have ever eaten. My husband had the sausage and shrimp which he said was good. Son has steak frites. Steak was not seasoned at all. Frites were so hot he couldn’t eat them without burning his tongue. Daughter had chicken sandwich which was ok. Both had a pomegranate lemonade which was very good. Waiter was odd. He didn’t say the normal things you would expect like “what can I get you to drink” or “would you like to order appetizers” he just kind of came over to the table and stood there and waited for us to say what we wanted like “can we order drinks” etc. He would come back and say “are you ok?” It was odd and off putting. He asked me if I wanted another drink but not my husband. We wanted to hear the desserts but he just brought the check out and shortly said he would take payment when we were ready. I think he was trying to rush us out for the next table. Kind of hard to explain but it was an odd experience like nothing we have ever had before.

My wife and I moved to Daytona Beach and are in the process of exploring the northern Florida area finding new restaurants. In times of COVID, we are only visiting restaurants that have outside dining. We searched on good places with outside seating and found this gem, The Floridian. We had a meatloaf sandwich and a shrimp Po Boy after delish appetizer with fried green tomatoes, fish dip, and palmetto cheese and warm baguette. All were so good and very COVID safe friendly with masks required except when eating and servers wearing masks along with social distancing and outside dining. We really enjoyed and it was very reasonably priced.

We tried this local gem yesterday for lunch and will be returning often! That's what you have to do when so many menu choices tempt you but you can only order one. The cocktails are unique and delicious. The salads were creative and tasty from the citrus beets to the roasted sweet potatoes the flavors blended beautifully! We hoped for outside seating but even at 1:30 the outside dining was full. They had made appropriate modifications to inside seating that we were very distant from other diners. There was good air circulation inside as well.
