Shortys Place is a small Liquor, Beer & Wine Bar with smoking permitted. Atmosphere is one of a kind in SW Florida!! There will be bar food starting September 1st, 2017. Shorty highly recommends the Celtic Ray, River City Grill, Dean's South of the Border, Village Fish Market, Manatees Pizza, & The Turtle Club!!! We have plenty of outdoor seating with a new outdoor bar & Pool Room. Live music on the weekends to enjoy. We have 27craft and 7 domestic taps with a few imports thrown in for good measure!!! The Bottles are ICE COLD, the coldest in town I've been told. So come on down and see Shorty, Mr. Shorty,Angie,Jayne, Caroline & Heather for a good time. We are also selling package liquor & beer to go!! We Sell Beer, The Bull S*#t is Free!!! A M F

A get-down-and-dirty party stop

If you want to kick up your heels, and consume more than one fairly-priced bottles of beer, Shorty's Place is for you. Although they have limited seating inside of the bar, the outside parking lot (dotted with tables and umbrellas) is where the action is. And few bars can match the action in that parking lot, when Shorty's Place brings in a live band. Bucket of beer flowing in and out of the door give you an indication that this is an action-packed stop (with or without your motorcycle). Rumor also has it that Shorty's puts out a great hamburger; but a full dinner menu it is not. Try this one on for size, if you want to "get down and dirty"...

"My favorite restaurant!" says Hubby

Yep, that's right! Hubby has taken a "hankering" to Shorty's! Far from being a fancy place, he just loves the down-home atmosphere in the outside bar area, and the feeling you can be all alone, have a private conversation, or join in the activity around you. It's a neighborhood bar that even non-drinkers (like us) can relax and enjoy. We're not night owls, so our time there has been for lunch or late afternoon. Much of the food is simple, home-made, well prepared, and tasty! The hamburgers and scratch soups are great!

Sunshine, Craft Beer and Good Food

I met a friend at Shorty's Place yesterday. I admit, it's been a while since I visited, with Covid and all that. The new lunch menu had many appealing options including tacos, sandwiches, soup, salad and flatbread pizza. My friend had the chicken philly steak and I had a vegetarian flatbread pizza. Those who follow my reviews know I sometimes have trouble finding vegetarian options so I was relieved to see a few things on this menu to try. But of course, we met at Shorty's Place more for the comfortable outdoor ambiance in historic downtown Punta Gorda and the liquid libations. I love their extensive variety of craft beers and my friend enjoys Bloody Mary's. Service by Heather was excellent.

"The kitchen is closed" despite the full menu on the actual website.

Don't bother to show up if you're hungry. I came here and waited three minutes, then when I asked for a menu she told me the kitchen is closed, and the only food they serve is an occasional clam chowder and one other item that now escapes me. After my vacation ended, I checked the website and there's still a full menu. Taking it down shouldn't be tougher than cooking without an oven. This shouldn't be listed under restaurants.

I guess its only good for locals

The place really looked cool from the outside. My wife and I were starving and stopped for a late lunch. Menu was limited to about 10 items that were all sandwiches. We got 2 draft beers and ordered brats sandwiches. Bartender said they ran out of brat buns and we would have to use hot dog rolls. OK. We finished our drafts and watched 2 rounds of national trivia and still had no food. Bartender finally came over and said she gave our food to somebody else and ours will be up shortly. The brats were good but the rolls were super super dry and crumbly. We ordered another round of drafts and she gave us 1 free beer. I dont recommend you go unless you live there.

I LOVE THIS BAR!

I Love this bar! It is by its very nature a true and must stop destination while visiting Punta Gorda. It is a constant. A place that visitors and locals alike can always find a cold libation and a friendly conversation. This truly unique and last of the Mohican “Dive Bars” attracts almost every kind of patron and all are welcome. The service is top notch and the establishment lively. They have regular entertainment and karaoke several times per week. Additionally, there is a pool room with free pool. The food menu is limited and service for food hours vary. People come here for fun and if that’s your goal, you will also Love This Bar!

Fun, Food, And Music

We always have a good time at Shorty's. We feel like family. The bartenders, Brandy and Jane have always been good to us and we so enjoy playing trivia or listening to music. There may not be many good karoke singers around but they all have fun.

Disaster

This is probably the worst place in southwest Florida. I walk in and everybody standing around not doing a thing. The bartender is too busy trying to patch up her love life then serve drinks. I have no desire to ever come back to this hole in the wall disaster ever again, maybe you can give the bartender some time so she can figure out her love life

Dive Bar

This was the only place we could find open late after we came to town. Everyone was smoking, inside and out. The place looked so dirty I was afraid to order anything to eat. The following night we drove by and it looked like it was a bikers bar. The parking lot was filled with motorcycles. I have nothing against bikers, but I am not one and this was just not the place for me.

Cute little bar with plenty of outdoor seating and karaoke.

Our friends took us here to one of their favorite local hang out's. It did not dissapoint with it's relaxed atmosphere, plentiful drinks and local karaoke singers. We had fun here and wanted to stop on our return to the airport but time didn't allow.

A Fun Spot on Sunday Afternoon

A good spot for the boys to have a few beers and enjoy the afternoon. I won’t call it a dive bar, but I will say it is short on extravagance. Today they had entertainment and had the place opened up to the parking lot. Dropped in before with another couple over a weekend in Punta Gorda and enjoyed ourselves.

Outta nowhere I found a fun spot

I walked in on a Saturday night to an excellent old school blues band, missed the name. The crowd was having drinks and enjoying the music. Personally I had an excellent craft beer.

always love setting out with lunch by the bay
