FAILTE! [WELCOME!] The Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda opened in 1997 by Proprietor Kevin Doyle. At the time there wasn’t a single establishment in the area that offered a variety of quality imported beers and the atmosphere of a traditional Irish Pub. We serve only high-quality imported draught beers, bottled beers, ciders, fine wines, as well as, a selection of “soft” beverages. We also have expanded with the ‘other side’ and now have a full liquor bar! Our menu features traditional Irish Pub favorites made from fresh ingredients and family recipes. The Celtic Ray’s Fish & Chips are famous worldwide! See you at the Ray, Slainte!

My first real Irish pub. Dining room was a bit dank and a bit dark and tables were spread out everywhere and in little alcoves, etc. Gave it a "real feel". The thing you need to know is that you order and pay for your...food with the bartender, and the food is then delivered to your table. I had the fish and chips and would venture to say it's the best fish and chips dish I have had in years. Thick, flaky and tender white fish. The "chips" were good. A nice addition is the slice of Irish soda bread that comes with the meal. We were there for lunch, but the "action" seems to be outside. I would love to go back in the evening. There are multi-levels and a couple of bars. Also, a stage is there for live music. Will definitely go back at night!More

The food looked amazing. I couldn’t eat anything that looked amazing. It is annoying that an Irish Pub has so little gluten free options. When I was in Ireland I could eat literally EVERYTHING!!! At this restaurant even the curry dishes had gluten. Totally unnecessary....So if you like to eat salad while others eat things that could easily be made GF. Enjoy the Magners. That is the best they got. Pre-eat so ya don’t get drunk.More

If you have but one place to dine in Punta Gorda this should be it! The fish & chips is the standard by which I judge all other restaurants.....and find them not up to par. The worst meal I ever had there was outstanding! And...that is a comment I can make about few other places, the Wells Steakhouse in Wells, Maine, being tops on the list.More

My buddies and I stopped here this past Saturday and we went to the upstairs inside bar for food and drinks. Cheyenne was our bartender. We had beers and ordered chicken and strips, Shepard's pie, and soda bread. Nice place with a comfortable setting. Food...was good but my Shepherd's pie was a small serving for the price. Chips and soda bread were delicious!! Nice place to stop for drinks and food. Good service by our bartender. Will be back.More

BAD FOOD - BAD SERVICE - BAD MANAGEMENT APRIL 3, 2022 Today me and my husband wanted to swing on by catch a few drinks and have our favorite fish and chips, usually we always get 2 meals to go but it was just a...entire bad experience entirely, MGT please watch your cams to see all this, arrival 4 to 415pm, place outside pretty busy so we wanted to have quiet time we went inside decided on a table for two up by the stage area, we sat their few mins, workers at the bar saw us but nobody came over, maybe their was no wait staff ?? who knows so we just left the table and went up to the bar a total of maybe 5 people were at the bar eating and drinking 1 gent over to the right 2 over to our left and 2 others other side street side....we made it pretty easy just wanted fish and chips and mentioned we also wanted 2 dinners to go would order upon delivery of our meals. The young lady took our order, I questioned on what fine wines they had or did they have a wine list to order a bottle, she seemed confused only gave me choice of chardonnay, pinot noir, white, rose? I asked about Brand Names, i guess maybe she didn't know what I was talking about so I passed, my husband ordered a beer and I went on to order water with lemon until i could get a wine list? The bartender came over gave me a glass of water and used his fingers to adjust the lemon almost putting his fingers in the top of the water in the glass, then went on to use those same hands to handle dishes, etc at the bar---- The wine request info got lost in the shuffle of things and our food came 2 dishes of fish and chips with just 1 piece of bread and the fries were stone cold, fish OK, told my husband go eat his fish i would take care of it and then I told the same waitress I wanted the wine info from that we were done our fish (that is how long it took for her to make the round back to us) and to bring us a fresh batch of fries for each one of us (same amount on the plate, it was obvious she would see that the fish was gone and the good portion of fries still lay their, she said give her a min she would come back and replace the fries with FRESH ONES....well she did finally come back with a small dish size of a bread plate with fries but you could tell they were all crumbs and split up from the French Fry Container where the cooks probably keep them under the warmer...they were not freshly made up as promised and surely we didn't each get the same size portion that came with our fish plates it was less than 1/2 put on a mini plate so that was the compensation that was taken, we just wanted what size came with the meal as each dinner was $18.00 1 piece of fish and fries with cole-slaw and 1 piece of bread, she did also replace the piece of bread that was missing off my plate. I kept telling my husband, WOW i am amazed how much this place went down hill....service now the food...horrible, lets pass on the to go orders since we were not even asked as we told the waitress we would give her the order upon delivery of our meals.....so sad face me who really likes solutions resolved told the same male bartender about the issue, server name on the bill was LOGAN C not sure of that was the female or male.....but his solution was to ask WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY? like a guessing game? i said I am not looking for anything free but just some type of comp on our end for what happened, he then walked away and then while he was at the register said " how does credit for the beer sound?" almost pressing me to just agree and to get out of their. I told him whatever he thought was best, so my husband got his beer credited.. ....we should of just received credit for one of the meals since basically 1/2 the meal was never enjoyed by both of us....Did the male bartender think that $18.00 was really going to hurt business at the CELTIC RAY? The Gent should of said, listen we are truly sorry, lets make you 100% happy and give you 1 full credit for 1 of the meals, we are sorry kitchen was busy and we want you back, but nothing happened like that. Horrible, Needed to Share to All.More

Having spent a decent amount of time in Ireland, Scotland, and England, I'm as surprised as anyone to say that among the best bangers & mash (or rather, colcannon) I've had were in this pub in Punta Gorda. This place features a big outdoor space,...but the inside gives off a wonderfully legit pub vibe, with a decent selection of beer (classics and locals) and a collection of Cornish pasties and pub grub. The beer is even in imperial pints (as it should be!). Great food, comfortable venue, good beer, friendly staff. Unquestionably worth going out of your way for.More

We've been going to Celtic Ray for years. We would make an annual visit when we were down from NY in winter. We now we live 45 minutes away in the Cape and make a visit about every other week. Well worth the drive (we...visit TT's as well). Very authentic and the food is great. Wish they had a happy hour. I was a little disappointed they have been out of the Rueben Pasty our last 3 visits, but we had another pasty and it was delicious. The last time our Curry chicken barely had any chicken, but it is normally a good portion, so we let it slide. Anyway, great spot. We'll definitely be back. Happy St. Patty's!!More
