My husband and I decided to try out The grill at 1951 Friday night. Firstly the atmosphere was nice especially with the music! Our server April made our first experience here a great one! I was craving a steak and went with a filet but...our server told us about how the surf and turf with the lobster was a perfect combination so I decided to take her recommendation. Needless to say I'm glad I went with her suggestion! Overall great experience between great service from April, the delicious food, and music. Will definitely be back!More

Now that my wife and I experienced the Grille at 1951, we appreciate its apt motto: “Come for the entertainment, return for the food.” In a word, we thrilled to the entertainment, the classic jazz, blues, and pop repertoire of the immensely talented Tony Boffa...Quartet. We loved the selection of songs, and I was particularly gratified that the decibel level easily permitted quiet conversation. The restaurant’s American cuisine is equally impressive and included more than a few creative appetizers, tasty soups and salads, a potpourri of entrees, and decadent desserts. All in all, we had a delightful evening. It’s likely we will seek out opportunities to hear Tony and friends again, and we will definitely return to the Grille at 1951 for the food and elegant ambience.More

We were given a gift certificate for this restaurant for my wife's birthday. We were greeted and seated promptly at a table near the Jazz Band. Our Waitress, Alana, was very knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered off the two for $49.95 menu, my wife choosing...the Salmon while I chose the Lasagna. The first course of baguette bread with dipping sauce was outstanding - the bread being fresh and tasty. My wife had the house salad with vignarette dressing while I had the fish chowder, which was very thick and creamy. Her salmon was well trimmed and accompanies with a very nice dressing. My lasagna, a huge portion, was covered with cheese. The Italian sausage was sweet an full of flavor. We recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit.More

We were staying at the nice motel next door and went by for a night cap, not expecting to walk into a jazz club with such great music! The bar, the food, the music -- all first rate. Everyone who worked there was very gracious...and hospitable. This place is worth coming back to.More

My husband and I ordered the Ahi Tuna "Martini" (served in a martini glass), which was very tasty, but the accompanying wonton chips were stale. Crusty bread with seasoned oil/vinegar for dipping was delicious. We then split a ribeye special and ordered it medium rare....It was seasoned nicely, but was delivered well-done. The friendly bartender of course offered to have another steak prepared (we declined and took the majority home for our dog). The custard in our creme brulee was overly sweet and the eggs were extremely overcooked. For the price we paid (tuna was over $17 and steak was over $50), we would have expected something a bit closer to awesome. The live jazz was lovely, and the atmosphere was very nice (except for the three bored waitstaff standing behind us for our first 20 minutes chatting away as if they were at a party). We may give this restaurant another try in the future, but it will probably be awhile before we take the chance again.More

At first, when we walked in we felt out of place because it’s an older crowd. But, the atmosphere was great! Music was good, decorations were delightful and the food…….. AMAZING!!! The chef was out walking around a bit and I spoke to him briefly....He said he’s only been there a month and has plans to add all kinds of new menu items that sounds amazing too!! Our waitress, April was fantastic and very attentive. All around a wonderful experience. Highly recommendMore

AND IT WAS. After overlooking this Restaurant for years based on what it used to be and reputation, we went on a neighbors recommendation with them and we were so pleasantly surprised with the ambience, food, service and wine list. Went back again last week with a party...of seven for a birthday celebration and we were wowed once more. Everyone said their dinners were great, some American, some Seafood, and some Italian. Great Restaurant Tamiami Trail in front of the Days Inn. We certainly wont overlook the Gem againMore
