About
Schooners is a classic laid back open-air beach shack. Known affectionately as "The Last Local Beach Club," Schooners keeps the focus on fresh, local seafood, icy cold beer and friendly service. Local bands keep the beach bar vibe rockin' along, there's usually a volley ball game going down on the beach, and the famous Sunset Celebration blasts the night off with a boom from the famous Schooners cannon. We have had mixed experiences with this restaurant. We had spent the majority of the day at St. Andrews and wanted to head back for the sunset so this was the closest place to feed our hungry bellies at 3pm. We still had a half...hour wait. This visit everything was on point. They have COVID protocols clearly in place. The food was excellent. We had cheese curds, blackened grouper, and fish tacos. The service was excellent despite them being understaffed and we were able to return to St. Andrews for an amazing sunset. The only thing that was hard for me was the stools. I had taken a fall at St. Andrews and was really sore so I did have to stand at a counter height table because my back could not handle the backless stools. If that is an issue for you, just make sure to tell them you need an actual table/chairs.More

Schooners, my old friend... what has happened to you?! This was our first visit back since we left without eating back in May, when we couldn't get shrimp chowder. That was our first time trying again since a less than stellar visit 2 years ago....We went in tonight for dinner. The hostess was sweet and accommodating, our waiter was spot on, the cannon fire and atmosphere were fun... and the food was incredibly disappointing. We ordered a $9 cheese curd app. They bring these out in a bowl, on a huge bed of arugula to disguise the fact that you are getting maybe 2 dozen small curds. The jalapeño ranch that came with them was good, though! The menu is what makes me so sad. That limited menu from Maya? Yeah... still a problem. This time, against my first thought otherwise, we stayed. Mostly because my kids had been excited all day for the popcorn shrimp. I have always craved their shrimp chowder between visits. It's gone. No longer a menu item. Shrimp alfredo flatbread? Also gone. I could have sworn we have ordered calamari here before, but if so... that is also a thing of the past. One positive... popcorn shrimp is now on the adult menu, so my teenage sons no longer have to order 2 kids meals each. Downside... it's freezer section popcorn shrimp. The kind you can get at your local Walmart. My husband's grouper sandwich was tough, almost rubbery. Now that all the unique things that kept bringing us back to Schooners are gone, I have no desire to come back.More

We went here for the view. Really impressed with the friendly bartenders. We did not eat here. No tap beer. All cans or bottles.

We discovered Schooners on our first Panama City Beach vacation in 2019 and it was our favorite of the week. So of course we came again during our Aug 2020 vacation. It did not disappoint. Both times I had their grouper and it is the...best I’ve ever had. Right on the beach. Highly recommend!!More

Great place for food and drinks. Best fried shrimp I’ve ever had. Crispy and succulent. Beach seating but closed while we were there. We sat on the bar/porch at a great table. Definitely a place to go back too,

Loved Frozen Strawberry daiquiri with souvenir cup . Tasted also the painkiller and the beach chair. Beach chair is very delicious and tastes like cotton candy. I think the beach chair would be awesome as a frozen drink!!!

This was close to our hotel so we decided to try it. Exactly the type of food and drinks we expected from the restaurant. We were lucky we had a high top table right by the beach to enjoy a lovely sunset The cannon blast...at sundown was a fun touch.More
