Been going here longer than I can remember, it was one of the few places to get 'authentic' Mexican food in town. Now it tastes like the cook opened a jar of Cheez Whiz and poured it on a tasteless chicken burrito. Our other dish...More
Good food and portions at reasonable prices. Older building on main street not fancy but decorated Mexican. Big menu and all dishes are good. Chips and salsa are good as are wait staff.
Went to the Alvarez for the second time. It did not disappoint. The food is very good here. The service was slow and our orders got missed. When they realized this they brought us an amazing cheese dip and a free round of drinks. We...More
We drove 45 minutes and met friends at this restaurant, looking forward to some good Mexican food (based on the reviews). Well, our expectations were not met. I think I've been spoiled after living in areas that have good, authentic Mexican food, so it has...More
While on the road and hungry for lunch we dropped by Alvarez Mexican Foods. It had a simple homey atmosphere and the equally pleasant staff and diners helped us find a booth in the busy place. My husband and myself both chose tacos, he chose...More
I've been going to Alvarez since the 80s, but there are better choices now. Alvarez has served Mexican food since it was "exotic"! i.e. the 80s. Always loved their Chiles Rellenos... a batter dipped, deep fried poblano pepper stuffed with cheese. Healthy? Maybe not. Tasty?...More
Bad service from authentic Mexican staff pretending they don't speak English. Flies on the food, dirty tables, typical Mexican offerings. This restaurant is recommended to me but I don't see the draw. The interior unpleasant. Don't go here.
Their menudo is so yummy. I ate a bowl for lunch recently then ordered some to take home. Service can be iffy but I wasn't in a hurry. I ask for the hotter sauce since the chips & sauce served is very bland.
In Palmetto Alvareaz is just...Alvarez...it has been here forever and if you eat there you know why! They just updated their menu, and added a few new touches. I love their salsa...and go for breakfast too!!
