After visiting Daytona we stared back to Saint Augustine and decided to stop at Betty's A1A Cafe. The restaurant was half full so we were seated quickly. Our server greeted us promptly and was very pleasant. The menu specializes with seafood which is the reason why we stopped. I ordered fried sea scallops and my wife ordered the fisherman platter... I went to Betty's because of the reviews. I should have skipped it and went back to Caribbean Jack. I ordered the fried shrimp with chicken tortilla soup and French fries for the sides. The chicken tortilla soup came out yellow but it was chunky with plenty of chicken. I had never had yellow chicken tortilla soup but it was... More

Our friends suggested going to local spot for late lunch after day of sightseeing. The service staff were all so friendly & helpful. It was obvious they liked what they were doing. The New England clam chowder & chicken salad sandwich were excellent. However the best was banana cream dessert. It is a must have.

My wife and I had the fried haddock for dinner tonight. Having eaten a lot of fresh haddock in New England, we know what it looks and tastes like. This fish was very fresh and mild with almost a slightly sweet taste to it. Perfectly fried so it was not greasy at all. really authentic! We had heard that the owners... More

We love Betty's and always make a stop at least once per east coast visit. Great fried shrimp and onion rings! And the house made sides are tasty. I especially love the chunky applesauce. I hear that the desserts are fabulous, but we're too full to give them a try.

BUT.... went there for the set Xmas dinner and was most disappointed. The dinner was very bland, especially because there was no 'colour' in the meal. White meat and mash potato plenty, but no colourful items such as sprouts, carrots....and the lot drowned with white ' sauce '. Loads of white sauce on mash potato just turned it into a... More

We come here only once a year (half of us live in Seattle and that is a hike)..... The food and the atmosphere are definitely old South. We love the onion rings - and - we always order an extra plate. This time we tried the scallops and they were great, too. This is "fried and fried" food so don't... More

I rarely give a place a perfect score, but this eating joint is the exception. A business associate that went to school in the area years ago suggested we stop in for lunch on our way through town and give this place he so fondly remembered a try. The place didn’t look over impressive from the roadside as we drove... More
