We were lucky and got a window seat and giraffes were 20 yards away. Food was very good and fairly priced. It’s walkable from main lodge at animal kingdom and you can also see some animals from a couple of viewing areas at the hotel.

It will be hot in August, but you should plan for dinner in the late evening when it is cooler and when you'll see more animals up and around. At Animal Kingdom, try to get on one of the safari rides as early in the morning as possible before it gets hot. You'll see animals anytime, but more of them will be moving around early in the day.
